QoL (Quality of Life) Improvements you would like to see?

I think I found something which really grinds my gears:

Should be able to return untouched cars to the dealership for full credits. By untouched I mean its never been driven or modded or anything. This way if you buy the wrong variant of the car like I did you can return it and buy the correct one.

used controller for the first time to edit my livery for manufacturer's cup. The haptic feedback was really annoying. I haven't looked to edit it but I don't know why they felt the need to have feedback on a menu.

I would love to have the real Campaign mode returned. If they can add it to GT Sport then I can't see why they can't do it in GT7. Just like GT Sport have an options button at the top of the screen where its possible to change car while in the race menu at the track before starting a race or when you exit a race instead of having to exit from the race completely then going back into the main race menu screen.

What would be really cool is if we could make our own custom championships like we can make custom races. Set up a custom race however you want, then have an option to add more tracks. I want these criteria for the race, and I want these five tracks. The system would award points like it currently does and at the end there'd be a championship bonus.

Seems like it'd be easy enough to do.

I got some stuff to say:

-The Menu Music changing for every single menu. How am I supposed to enjoy the smooth soundtrack if I only get a few seconds each time?
-Wide body not being under Customization
-No Next race option for License tests or Missions
-Accidentally going to the Used Car lot instead of my Garage (might just be my fault)
-Changing the color of your car. Why do I need to see a sample of it on a different car before seeing it on mine, in a whole other menu?
-Livery designs search is still very limited.
-Not being able to set settings in the tuning back to the previous setting, just waiting until the blue number turns white again

How could I forget?
HAVING TO LEAVE GT AUTO COMPLETELY TO GO TO ANOTHER SECTION OF THE SAME AREA

PD has missed so many of these little improvements. Many of them were present at launch or added via updates in previous games, but still missing in GT7. Examples:
  • Ability to buy tunning parts in race menu;
  • Save during champioships;
  • Change car and time/weather in race lobby;
  • Go to next license without returning to main menu;
  • Quick access to garage;
  • Load ghosts of previous saved replays;
  • Telemetry;
  • Ghosts as a racing line;
  • Share cars with friends;
NEW: Ability to change car setup during pit-stops.

race info leaderboard blocks my view , so when turning off race info i would ike the option to leave on the gauges (bumpercam)

You already can change your car, you just have to select an event first.

But I agree with your other point. Where the hell is the rest of the game?!

Please, give me an option to shortcut to my favorite time trial tracks! (and races) (and custom races) ..

I totally agree with all the things that have been repeated here; having to exit the gt auto completely to switch between floors surely is annoying. The menu music switching songs between menus could be changed to persist between screens, sure.

But the one thing that would improve my life as a sim racer, is having a clutch option to assign to a controller button!!!!

It's a racing simulation, so why not simulate the thing that most race drivers use every time they drive? Aside from modern paddle shift cars and sequential race transmissions, it's as essential as the throttle.

Having to shift down and back up just to make sure i clear a corner where instead i could just clutch in to unlock the diff for a second and get a bit of cornering just killllls me 😖

Not to mention clutch-kicking to start a drift.. even after a decade, still can't get my head around using the e-brake.

Also not being able to adjust the brake pressure, just the front/rear bias, to me is a major oversight. Relying solely on ABS (or being really sensitive on the controller) instead of having the option to fine tune the brakes seems amateurish to me on PD's part.

Having some bonnets added to the custom body parts would be nice but not necessarily a QoL addition.

To sum up: add a clutch option, and be able to adjust brake pressure.

You sound like a person in desperate need of a wheel.

  • Addition of an option to swap the various menus (tcs, section time etc...) and tachometer positions and display an analog-style tachometer. The current tachometer makes it a little difficult to keep track of RPM drops.
  • Add a non-roulette means of obtaining roulette exclusive parts. For example, adding it as a very expensive part that can be purchased after collector level 50, or driving over a certain distance in a car that wants to do an engine swap like Tokyo Xtreme Racer.
  • Allow carbon body kits to be painted the same color as the body, like some Porsche models.
  • Add front spoiler and rear diffuser options to models where those parts are not currently available. These are not just visual upgrades, but also parts that have significant functional benefits. The rear diffuser in particular is a powerful part that can raise the upper limit of front downforce when used in conjunction with the front spoiler, yet not many models are available with this part.
  • Display the coordinates of the decal in the livery editor. This feature is implemented in most other games and would not be difficult to add to GT7.
  • Performance statistics visualized for each parameter, like Forza and NFS. What is currently available in the tuning menu is somewhat unintuitive. For example, "Speed 10.0, Grip 3.2" would make it easier to intuitively understand that the car currently has insufficient grip for the engine power.

I am a picky gamer and like things my own way... Not everyone agrees with me but that's ok :)

1. The menu's need to load instantly on ps5 - Anything less than instant is too long these days
2. Ability to go to next licence test once completed one, without having to back out
3. Ability to to to the next section in circuit experience without backing out
3 Ability to "leave championship" after you finish a race, instead of being forced to go to load up the next track then leave.
4. Cafe menu books - you can't really progress in the game without accepting the next book - make the next book automatically accepted.
5. Have the option to remove animations when purchasing cars
6. Have the option to remove animations when doing oil changes etc
7. Initial game start up - needs to be an extra option "pro" user - that turns off all assists and selects manual
8. Let the game set Miles/Kilometres automatically based on the country you're in
9. Improve AI - its terrible
10. Make a proper GT career mode like older GT with headers like beginner, intermediate, pro and endurance
11. Make the Single player races grid starts with similar cars
12. Add qualifying options for above
13. I know the OP said not to whinge about the economy - But omg the economy is a joke currently - its not fun and has effectively ruined the game for me until its fixed. (Being improved in future update)
14. Used car dealership - needs to refresh 5x faster
15. Used car dealership - somehow you can buy more than one of the same used car (???).. at least randomly change the car colour, mileage and/or price
16. Legendary car dealership - needs to have more cars available at a time (coming in future update)
17. Higher credit cap (coming in future update)
18. Have option in tuning - "Purchase all best parts" with a price - maybe it has a memory check box where you can select the tyres
19. Have a "restore car to new" option... instead of changing oil, then washing, then restoring rigidity and the engine refresh
20. On the Ps5 version at least - The ability to purchase parts / upgrades / change decals in online lobbies
21. PS5 only lobbies - Have up to 24 players per lobby (they do this in Wreckfest)
22. When entering a sport race - sometimes you have up to 15 minutes to wait - let us register then play other single player elements while we wait - IE circuit Exp, Missions and licences.
23. Fix the penalty system already. I know it can't be 100% perfect but there are many easy improvements to be made
24. I haven't done this but BOP daily races seem to need to untuned version of the car? Remove this manual de-tune - just have people own the car and when you enter the race, it tunes the car to the current specs for the race and after the race, everything you have remains unaffected (Effectively owning the car gives you the ability to loan the same car, with the same livery but a different tune for the event)
25. The ability to skip the videos that come up during Cafe menu
26. Ability to skip the intro video when first playing the game
27. Ability to skip the music rally when first playing the game
28. Personally not a fan on how the tyre choice now affects PP - I like the old system where you pick a PP to tune to and then have tyres separate - Makes it easier for setting up PP races IMO
29. One lap magic races - don't make us wait the entire time to start the race - these are essentially no different to any other race within the game where you start 30-40 seconds behind the leader... except the wait time is added. Add a "skip wait" option
30. Change car invitations and replace them with "You must own these 4 cars before you can purchase this special car" type thing and make it so you can always buy them after you have purchased one.
31. Let us earn engine swaps / special parts for cars by winning events in them
32. Add Online / split screen co op championship events for GT mode - have team points etc (as was done in previous f1 games)
33. Ability to pause during pit stops
34. Ability to save endurance races while in pit stops

Online QoL
Host needs to be able to set race grid starting positions
Host needs to be able to set a default new host if they DC
Host needs to migrate automatically when host leaves - the lobbies shouldn't just finish
Host needs ability to kick people
Host needs ability to ban people
When hosting - The game needs to remember the last lobby settings you had
When hosting - Need to be able to save multiple different lobby settings with the ability to rename them
Sport races: Need more events during peak times
Sport races: Remove the warm up option - just sync players and let us race
Sport races: Add 3 race championships during peak hours of gameplay that give high payouts for staying until the end.

GT App: Needs to be able to set up Series races within the app where friends can join and see champion rules, times, settings, tracks and points for current, past and future events.

Im sure I could come up with more if I went back and played the game but the last update has ruined the single player experience for me and there is a severe lack of events for a GT game.. Once they have been finished, there is nothing to play for anymore.

The online lobby system is so broken that it ruins the experience there too. I have no idea how anyone can release a game with the custom lobbies being so broken.

This game has everything there to be the best GT game in history, they just need to update and improve a bunch of things and reverse the decision to massively push people to MTX.

The menu music either not changing on every click, or at least stop continuously blocking the view of the clock with the song title. I want to know when I need to sign up for the next race.

About that, why can't I do 'housekeeping' while signed up for a race... Let me browse the dealerships, check my car, oil change what not, grind windmills, just pull me out when matchmaking is up.

For that matter, what's up with the 15 minute max advance sign up. Let me sign up 29 minutes in advance after missing the race, then do real housework until the race, instead of having to remember to click sign up while doing the dishes.

For custom races:

Let me save custom race settings.
Don't reset all the custom race settings when I notice I missed something and have to go back to fix it.
Remember my sorting option when selecting garage cars, you have to reset the sort for every car when creating a grid.
Let me save the grid I created to use another time.
Let me check and change the car settings when setting up a grid, I don't know which ones were gimped to use in tournaments. (Does the AI use BoP like you're forced to use, or do they use the current car settings?)
Let me save a custom race to continue later.
Let me pause in the pit, you can pause mid race, but not while pitting?
Let me change the sound settings while racing.
Let me change the music selection while racing (honestly are there only 5 tracks playing while racing? I keep hearing the same songs)
Let me see what time it is in game during the race, why no clock? How long till sunrise etc.
Let me see a weather report before the race starts, custom weather is still very random. Anything but R07 and R08 have a chance of no rain at all, very little or a lot. Even the torrential downpour settings can just have a sliver of dark blue.
Let me zoom out the weather radar further or don't accelerate the clouds based on race length. In a 3H race the clouds move at about 900 kph (560 mph), in a 2H race they move at over 1,300 kph! (over 800 mph)
Or give me more than 9 options for weather on longer races and mark it with times. When is sunrise and sunset?
Let me change oil in the pit, oil doesn't last for an 8H race. For $400 dollars it should at least last a day lol.

Like mentioned up above, A Clutch button wouldn't be a bad suggestion. Reminds me of the days of Manual with clutch on a controller during the Forza Days. :P

Another thing I miss is the stats of our cars.
-Races Won
-Races entered
-Times Changed

A test drive feature for the Dealerships would be nice

And last but not least, from the old GT2 days

Random event generator*

*Super license required

Would be cool to be able to scroll through vehicles in your garage the same way you scroll through cars at the dealerships. (thumbnails across the bottom with the car model in the middle).

It would be super cool if the 600, 700, & 800 championships would change up tracks. Or maybe we can pick from a couple different sets (so long as they all end on N24!). It's always the same tracks racing the same cars in the same order.
