But who would I email? I wouldn't expect the GTP staff to be giving out their personal email addresses, so is there a GTP address that could be used to contact staff?

I think there's an email listed in the "Contact" section just below. Can't remember and can't look because I'll loose this message and have to retype it

In the event of your country not allowing you access to GTP, you can email me at GTPWeAreStillHere at the mail of G. :P

No, not my personal email and I swear if that inbox is flooded with crap I'm going on a tirade.

No.

While the AUP prevents me from advising methods to render national censors ineffective and disguising your posts' origin, there are techniques used by journalists and citizens in repressed and war-torn nations to reveal their content to readers in the outside world through media such as Twitter.

Does the AUP apply in conversations? As long as it's not harassment and what not.

Just curious.

TB
If it happens on GTPlanet, the AUP applies.
So if I see... Say a mod planning on overthrowing the world leaders and renaming Earth "The Planet Of GT" do I report it or leave them to make the world a better place?

So things like grammar can get pulled up, even if it's just you and one other person messing around with each other?

If so, i'm in a lot of trouble

Is there some way that a person could contact the staff if they'd been blocked from the site by an outside source?

I'll explain: if GTP had been blocked by the Chinese government while I was there would there be a way to contact the staff to explain the situation instead of people assuming I had been killed in a nasty road accident?
You can always send email to webmaster:@:gtplanet.net.

No.

Couldn't get the download in China, I tried many times. The Firefox browser that comes with the package works there, but it has to be downloaded outside of the country.

I don't expect I'll have any issues in my current location. Good to know there is an address to contact if there is a problem getting online.

But.... if you're having problems getting online, how can you send a message using that email address? Perhaps you mean getting on GTP.

It's nothing about connection speed and everything about state censorship. While state monitoring does cause slow internet response, there are websites that are completely blocked in China (Facebook, Twitter, Youtube), so finding alternate methods of contacting people you only have contact with through those sites is important.

Then there's the blocking of Picasa, GoogleDocs, and GoogleDrive, which makes collaborating with colleagues in China a royal pain in the 🤬 ing butt. Hmmm... seems they're finally allowing DropBox, though.

I never had an issue with Dropdox but accessing a Gmail account can be a nightmare depending on what you use it for.

I have a question which has probably been asked somewhere but I can't find an answer for it. If someone self-censors, for example, typing the characters **** rather than letting the swear filter pick it up, can you tell that they didn't actually use profanity? Basically, can you see through the swear filter?

I'm almost positive that we can, but try it. Post five ****s, but make one an expletive and I'll tell you which it is :D

If I get an infraction for this i'm going to throw some crisps on the floor.

How amusing. I remember before the transition I searched a word that the filter normally would censor out and I actually got results from it. Tried it again and it doesn't work now.
