I've just been trying out the new Spa QM,same old 🤬,different track-don't know why I bother really...Anyways,a strange thing happened going into La Source, turned in and WHALLOP-i'm shunted across the run off area into the far barrier by the trees-nothing behind me,as I came back onto a clear track the same thing happened again
So at the end of the race I saved my replay to check what was happening-was I in for a shock...

this is just before the first shunt-speed is in MPH...

IMG_0352.JPG

And the second shunt, coming back on track, just past La Source seconds later...

IMG_0353.JPG

I watched his whole replay and at some points, when he wasn't going backwards or bouncing off the walls he was hitting 350+ mph-I know some will say its down to lag,but how the hell can an invisible lagging car do over 350 mph ?
And the craziest thing is the guy finished in 5th place

Spa + GT3 is wonderful, I tried to connect 20 times and succeeded just 3. I got rammed, brake checked, pushed outside when maintaining my trajectory on a straight during an overtake. The only proper race I had was one where I started 3rd, took the lead on turn 1 and sprinted away from the rest, and then I got disconnected halfway during lap 3.
I really need to get into some serious racing lobby, I can't stand this anymore. I'll take a look in gtp lobbies but there are too many! Do you guys have any suggestion?

Had some nice races at Tokyo recently in small fields, going at it hammer and tongues with a couple of other racers over three laps with no penalties for anyone, the kind of races you dont want to end. The final race the other night though was ruined when one player jumped the start as the rest got away.

He parked it on the start line, ruined my race and I got the penalty :banghead:

I have tried the QM at SPA, every time I have raced I get slammed in the rear or side by idiots, and I get the penalty. Driving the Mercedes which is supposed to be the faster car, and every other car just flies by me. I drive with all aids off but I can not get near any other cars, not even when I slipstream another car they just walk away from me. I suggest PD just dump this crap, and give us something better. If you can't drive clean just get the hell out and go play need for speed or something. Maybe PD could just kick the kids off the came for awhile and see if that helps the game.

I'm in the same boat mate, trying to find somewhere to race(incidentally, looking for races was how I ended up in the WRS TT :)),but I may have a solution-let me look into it and i'll PM you later to let you know how it went đź‘Ť

The one thing that cheered me up,and calmed me down, after running these ridiculous races was to save my replays and watch them back. You may think that everyone else is running better/faster laps, but once you actually see how poorly most of them drive(its a whole different perspective watching it back,as opposed to being in the thick of it)-and this is where PD's farcical penalty system is really shown to be encouraging bad driving/racing-you may not feel too bad about it all.
Just to waffle on a bit more-isn't it about time at least one QM-i'm looking at the coming soon box in the corner-had mechanical damage switched on ? You crash/ram/barge and you're out,no pitstop for repairs-its game over.
Obviously for a start the morons are going to ruin everyones race, but the novelty will soon wear off and it'll just be left to those who want a clean race and the occasional idiot who wanders in,but at only 3 or hopefully 5 laps its not too long to the next race.
EDIT:-Considering PDs track record on penalty systems this may be a very bad idea

Tonight I did some races at Spa. But although a few races were fun and fairly clean and I ran some low 7.0's, the other 6 races were hackfests. It's amazing when a car can rear end you going into the last chicane before the straight and you get shoved into the outside wall and a short cut penalty, while they drive off.

I even had one "driver," bang into me on the straight over and over until he finally shoved me off the track into the grass. Keep in mind, I was on the right side of the straight, out of the racing line while he did this. He won the race and messaged me after, "F'ing loser."

Nice job Vato. I blocked him after sending a return message.

Finally get an awesome track, but now I realize it's who you race with, not the track or the cars.

Going into a quick match, you'll probably be paired up with kids, old people above 60, people who pass the controller to their cat in the house, or someone who has no interest whatsoever and just trying out the game.

I suggest joining racing leagues on forums to find good clean drivers who play fair and have the skill to drive around other players. I used to play quick matches only, took time (years) to find good drivers from there, and now I don't see the point of playing mediocre races when I can just play some good quality ones which are run smoothly and fairly.

No need to spend hours getting disconnected, then to only connect and play with someone who doesn't know what braking means.
Old people ?? I'm 68 đź‘Ťđź‘Ť,, typically place very well thank you,, and I win as many as any others . Old doesn't make us slow bub :mischievous: - you just need to remember this - your turn to be an "ELDER" is coming,, IF you're lucky enough to endure all life has to toss your way and you survive that long:scared:

I think your last note is rite on partner,, look how well they've designed the penalty's now. As they are we've sort of , kind of, wishfully earned what to expect,, unless they can make the penalty fit the offender (AS THEY SHOULD!!) I'm voting - LEAVE THEM ALONE!!

I agree with you - at 60 I'm not quite ready for the scrapheap yet, and can still race fast. I won 90% of the races I entered over the weekend, and those that I didn't were usually down to penalties caused by other drivers!

I've been thinking for a while now about starting a QM club, running with the same tracks and cars,in stock form to level things out a bit,and/or a club for those like myself who don't have much online experience, but still want to race without all the hassles of QM or trying to find a suitable lobby.
Having never run either a club or lobby i'm still looking into it,if I go ahead i'll start a thread in the appropriate forum and post a link to it here...

Sounds like a plan -as I think somebody mentioned elsewhere, the beauty of the QMs (assuming you can get in!), is the more or less continuous racing. The main online racing rooms do seem to attract people who prefer to spend more time talking than racing!

I had some good races last night under my alias in the Red Bull x2014 Jr....

Is it just me or are there a lot of racers from Brazil who would rather wreck you than race?

A few have been cool, but way too many have even been aggressive with the side swiping during warm up. lol

The GT3 cars@Spa has had me hooked for a week or so. A good balance between the cars and the dirtier drivers tend to only hurt themselves with their antics on that track.

I'm ready for a new tuning event though. Bored of courtesy cars.

I can handle certain things, but it's mistakes like this that get me...

I can deal with losing to a better driver, cause that's how I learn. This stuff just pisses me off or at the very least makes me lose faith. But hey, that's life.

Cheers

I've had that happen AT LEAST 40 times this past year. It really hurts when you beat a dirty driver and he's the one that scrolls back up ahead of you. I just save the replay to watch how it really went down again. :)

I do the same thing for saving replays, and ya it's not my first time with this situation either, not by a long shot. Replay shows I clearly won, it's just a mistake somehow. Even my time is better than the "winner" but I still came up short.

It's the inaccuracies that are dis-heartening, and I hope they work it out somehow. It's these little things that make a big impression on the game itself, and the bad ones stick in people's minds.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the game and the competition but it still makes me say Grrrr. ;)

Cheers

This seems to happen in those rooms where there are gaps in the grid, and you always seem to start in the same place (usually near the back of the grid!). Must be a bug of some sort, but they've had plenty of time to try and fix it.

^Exactly.

The small loss of credits aside, you can see you were quicker on track and you know you won. A bugged leader board putting them above you doesn't mean they won.

Once I see the room starts to get buggy, I leave. The grass is greener elsewhere.

I don't mind the QMs. You just have to know what you are in for. Am I going to have some guys drive dirty? Yes.

However, once you get up to the front those guys are generally cleaner (and faster) and the dirty guys fade. I think the dirty guys are actually decent practice for driving clean yourself. You have to time and plan passes for spots where they can't have any recourse.

Also, I've met some cool guys running these which is mostly why I do it. And I ran a 6:49 for the first time at Spa today!

No bud,, it's NOT just you that has noticed the Brazilians dirty driving. There are a few, a VERY few who will try and drive decent but the majority of those green flags are nasty, dirty and go out of their way to "try" ruin every race. Personally I just don't understand why they like to do it. Because I run the QM's almost exclusively when I run across one or more of them driving dirty and because I don't need the credits nor do I give a rip if I lose,, call me nuts but I have made it almost a vindeta to bust 'em up, leave 'em in the grass and blow them off the course until they quit and leave the lobby - if I can. Problem is, they've practiced dirty driving and sometimes I'm just not good enough to blow some of them up.

I actually had a pretty good run in the new 350pp quick match last night. I won one and got podium on 3 more out of 6 races in 2 different cars. I did still get some needless penalties when other people swiped across my front end, but overall it was a good time. Only saw one person being intentionally rough, but he screwed himself more than those around him. I will be visiting this competition more often until it's gone. Good money to be made here. I got well over 250k on one of the bad runs coming in 5th out of 7.

I can't get on the console till later on tonight so was wondering what event they've put up? Which track and what event have they taken off?

The new one s 350pp your tune on Autumn Ring. It's actually a pretty good race considering the low pp. They took down the last Lemans quick match.

Gave the new quick match a try and I've got to say it's not for me. 350pp is seriously boring.

I saw masses of new faces that I'd never raced against before and almost every corner in the first lap saw a dive bomb attempt by them. No interest in taking the corner at all if they had a car to hit in front of them. Ha. And there was me saying it sounded relaxing.

If anyone is interested in giving it a try, I was getting around 5 minutes with the Honda Beat, Elise '11, Alfa Duetto '66 and a slightly slower Biposto B.A.T 1. I wouldn't use the Biposto too much in there though. Too many credits knocking the dents back out but it's a great drive at that level. My heart wasn't in it to try any others. 700K+ for a win in a full room though.

Oh well. back to the GT3's I go.

Today in the R246 QM I crossed the finish line 1st by a good 2 seconds. When the award screen came up, I had finished second to a car that DNF. How can that be???? I mean, really?!

Also the 350PP QM is a joke. No matter which car I take or which tune I use I get smoked. I have yet to finish within 9 seconds of first. The cars ahead of me just pull away like its nothing. Are they cheating? If so, how? Looks like PD has made that impossible. Are they playing it on their PC and modifying the code on the back end? What gives? Its very frustrating for a race that could be loads of fun.

And I agree with all of you, the collision penalties need to be fixed. I hate getting rammed off the course on purpose only to get penalized. Its like adding insult to injury. I always try to drive fast and clean.

I dont pay much attention to the screens. In rooms that have lag, I've seen the faulty finishing order. I know if I won and that's most important. You said no matter which car you use your're 9+ seconds behind. What are your lap times, and total race time? There are a boatload of cars that can do consistent 1:37's. Thats good enough for a win, even against an Elise with a mediocre driver.

What I've found in regards to "pulling away" is that old axiom, slow in, fast out.
