I liked the first three burnouts but this latest one just was bad....just really bad. I was expecting a solid burnout but instead got a heap of steaming.....well you get it.

I figure it's not too realistic, but with damage there's a certain compromise you have to have so the playability is still there. I think Codemasters did fine with it.

We'll see if I can make that happen again.

I've found a great way to get around the second to last corner, although your RPM's stay real low until you get out, although that can probably be fixed by using manual, am I correct?

Chris.

Even to be a more arcade type racer you still have to pull over skills from GT series into grid. E.G. racing lines. If you don't take good lines then you will be getting walked away from fast. Most arcade type racers you can do silly things such as cutting through grass and such. On grid if you do that the only thing it does is make you drop a place...lol. Its like GT4 got together with PGR for some hot coffee. I enjoy all race genre games so im happy to be getting it when it releases. I will play it and when i get a little bored switch back to GT series and when im tired of that and want to play something really bad i might even bust out the PS2 and play some NFS:Carbon :) Goodbye physics as i know them!! hahaa

Everybody is calling GRID an arcade game but isn't it a little bit more than that, nl. a simcade?

Have you played the demo (honest question)?

The only sim element to to it is that you need to slow down for some of the corners, the handling model is almost pure arcade, while the look of the game (tracks and cars) are real world.

I have to admit that GRID still has me in a quandary about getting it, only a week until its released and I still don't know if I can be bothered to get it. I guess it will be down in part to how much more I can drag out of GTAIV in the next 7 days, that and if I really dislike it then Ferrari Challenge would be an option to P/X it against. I know that I will almost certainly end up getting it anyway, as I have done with every Codemasters racing title anyway, guess I just can't make my mind up in my old age

Thanks for the heads up on the review.......many senterments on here are conveyed on the IGN ewview..............Looking good! Everything but the kitchen sink in there! I just need to find out if the PS3 has voice coms now......from what I've read in the past it's hinted at and being a major flaw if it's not there no ones mentioned it in the reviews.

Oops, I was wrong.

It's Ferrari Challenge that is called a simcade not GRID. GRID is arcade!

sorry

:guilty:

I just removed the GRID demo from the HDD as it is (sorry for GRID fans) rubbish.

Huh? The only reason I couldn't get around the last turn was because my car was so Fed up. lol It would turn right on it's own which made it harder to turn left. xD

Like I said, arcade is a cop out these days, but yes... while it does take more skill than an arcade and the cars will leave you behind the bottom line is it's still the most fun in ANY car game and I want to play it more.

Wow... and I get bashed for commenting before I play a game...

Actually, that had nothing to do with your post :P I was simply stating that the way I found beat the Codies WR time by 5 seconds, although I was behind it for most of the lap.

Well I just ordered the 360 version. I feel that the game will only keep my interest if I have achievements to unlock. Plus, it's only £32 at Shopto.com, which is really cheap. 👍

Just curious as you have both consoles which rationale do you use to choose one version over another...?

If I had both consoles I would find it really hard to choose which one to buy it for! That goes for any multiplatform game :scared:

Well, usually I go for the better looking version, but since GRID is is pretty much identical on each console, I'm going for Xbox only for the better controller suited towards driving (IMO), and the unlockable achievement points (kind of lame, I know).

He stated the rationale in his post. He feels that he'd lose his interest in playing GRID without Xbox 360 Achievements, as the PS3 currently has no equivalent to the 360's Achievements. But... the PS3 will be getting achievements soon called "Accomplishments", I believe. So really, there's usually very little to differentiate each version of a multiplatform game... although you'd probably want to get the game on the console that most of your friends own, if online multiplayer is a key feature for you.

I'm going fo rthe PS3 version, it's £35 most places I've seen it. It saves me having a reason to start switching between my PS3 and 360 again.

Yeah how it looks on one or the other is definitely big pull as well as play-ability...

I don't think wanting it for the achievements is lame, I wish Sony would get their act together and sort their rewards system so all my efforts can be worth something! :sly: although the older games now may not have it eventually added like COD4..

Next PS3 firmware update includes 2D trophies on the XMB, and supposedly upwards of 70% of titles should support the feature immediately. And then with Home, those trophies will be 3D.

Cool, thanks for the info but how will the PS3 know how far you are a given game and wont some already released titles not be supported.. unless Sony get the info from devs for every game published so far (not that many actually)..

Robin.

I don't intent to pre-order this, sometime next month I'll go into GAME and trade in a couple of games that I'm bored with and then buy this. Should mean I get to spend less money.

Oh and of course I'll get this on PS3.

You can easilly make your own achievements much more fun then chasing others.

Anyway I will get the PC version mostly because it has better wheels but also half the price almost from the console versions. Graphics is a bit better but not much than the 360 version. Instead you run at a constant 60 fps with vsync enabled with everything maxed so I don´t complain it still looks great :).

Really it looks like fun even though the handling could be better. It only feels spot on for the drifting. But probably have enough content to play for a couple of weeks when I don´t feel to dig deep into my racing sims.

I just noticed this thread, I would like to say that I am getting this game on release day.👍 I have enjoyed the demo, and I was good at it as soon as I played.:sly: If your good at GT5, you should be even better at this game, and apart from the more strict collision evasion you must do, it should be a walk in the park.;)

pc has better wheels?
You do know that the G25, which is a pc wheel, is also compatible with the PS3 and GRID! I'm not sure if there is a better wheel than the G25 for pc, which you can also you use for the ps3.

Grid is okay, but I'm not sure if I'm going to get it! :scared: Hmmmm Ferrari Challenge need to check out...

Nice find, the image above shows theres a replay record, this was suposedly absent acording to the reviews? also at the end of video 23, the PS3 one, theres a quick look at the team colours sytem, looks prety good, more than I was expecting and if you include the sponsors decals your looking at some prety individual looking cars to take online.
