So at one point one of the example vid's indicated there might be a replay record feature, did that actually make it into the game?

Is the driving physics in the demo exactly the same as the full release?

Physics appear to be the same, and there is no extra replay features or record/save features.

On the XBox version anyway.

I'm only good at drifting on this track though, and the drifting was pretty untidy to keep the combos up. But here's a picture of the stats...

Ahhh thats right, i forgot you had the actual game. I was thinking about the demo drift track and i was thinking, geeze:crazy: The highest i can get on the demo track was like 2,900,000. I really hate that track.

I've now got the game (got it early) and I'd say it's an 'agressive racer'. There's lots of big crashes and sometimes there's debris scattered around the road, so it's actually quite hard.

Your AI opponents act very agressive going into corners! On the first corner of a race, I always hit the back of the car in front, so you have to know when to brake and how fast to go round those corners.

Like GT said, you start off racing for other teams to earn enough money to start your own teams. On one of the races I did, I was in Lambourghini and it was very quick off the line, so GRID has some very fast cars.

Also I like the way they've added a collection of famous circuits like Spa.

Overall, so far, I'd rate it 9/10. The only problem I have is that the handling is a bit too sensitive, but apart form that it's a great game.

When will Codemasters actually learn on this one, every Race Driver release has been without the ability to save replays (well as far as I can remember) and with the PC releases they have always ended up sending out a patch to give you the ability to save replays.

Anyway I've been playing the demo more and have actually decided to get it, I look at it more as a game of a film of racing, as the actual racing it not realistic in terms of handling and overall aggression. The way I look at it, its sort of 'Days of Thunder-esq' in game form.

The BMW 320 still handles weirdly, but I'm going to give it a go (Spa and Le Mans are too much to resist).

Scaff

Anyone answer my question about the splitscreen mode? Splitscreen mode was a huge part of TOCA 3 for me and my friends as we managed to get uber competitive on it causing for some great intense races. Without splitscreen this game will lose (for me) a slighty edge to it, I mean online racing is all well and good but theres nothing like actually playing head to head with one of your friends there and then. I'll still get whatever the outcome but splitscreen should be included! PS3 games are lacking this feature at the moment!

You can't even switch cars during a replay, which is the worst possible feature they've missed out since you want to see a driver's crash from his point of view. :dunce:

I'm sure you'll enjoy the game - it can become quite competitive. And I still agree some of the cars drive weirdly - about the only cars that drive with some kind of noticable limits are the American muscle cars. And I quite enjoy the open top cars as well, but you need to have lightning quick reaction times to stop hitting other cars...

I recorded a video of a good battle I had in a Chevrolet Lacetti (oxymoron?). That car handles really oddly but I tried to keep it as clean as possible... It should be uploaded by this evening. 👍

^ Speedster, I'm not sure. I'll check once I'm back on.

:ouch: Seriously... Really... ? I was hoping... Thinking it was just because it was a demo.

EEKKK It be a big game! just managed to get my second driver for the team but I'm still trudgeing around the classic muscle car races, but completly smitten with them. Tried the 911's and the Lamborghini along with someother stuff, even picked up the supra, skyline and RX7 amoung others. My problem at the moment is getting to know the tracks, it seems events change venues quite often so I'm not getting chance to do a few laps to get used to them early on. Love the demolition derby, can't wait to get online with it later LOL also niped quickly into the online race section and found the private rooms and also my headset kicked in so the PS3 seems to have voice coms unlike the demo..........Overal impresion is a good one looks to be hard and theres alot of races and events

I broke my word and bought it anyway, I have to say, so far I'm glad I did. I'm about to start my first LeMAns race.

Good luck with the LeMans race. 24 minutes pass so unbelievably quickly while you're concertrating on trying to keep ahead of everyone. On the last 3rd of the track there's a series of S bends (not sure of their name) which I cannot for the life of me take fast enough for the AI cars. They either overtake me or have to severely slow down. It's easier with stability control turned on, but not quite enough. I did win one event though... just. 👍

I know what you mean. I didn't finish too well in that race, my target was to beat the Spyker squadron, I was in a Porsche 911. I was doing great and was right on the bumper of the leading Spyker with about 3 mins to go and coming up to the very last bit of the track which I was taking faster than the Spyker every lap. Than I touch the gravel, the back end weaves and smashed into the barier on the left as you come on the start finish straight. I was soo close to that £126,000 target bonus and I missed it with one costly mistake.

It is harder than the demo made it out to be, the demo was easy. I'm still wishing the handling was less twitchy but I'm having fun. I've just bought a TVR Tuscan Challenge.

I'v actualy got my team upto 98 in the world rankings....through perserverance than skill LOL The Le mans is a complete knightmare, I'm ok in the light but once it goes dark I'm just backing off too much as I can't see the apexs. I'm running a team of spykers (trying to keep in GT2 till im better) money wise, getting the cash isn't too hard once the bigger sponsors appear. I'm actualy getting a little hooked on the open wheel cars there not as scary as they sound and really rewarding to drive. Went on my first foray into online grid last night, looks to be good, the track voteing system is prety good how it incorperates so many tracks, and rather than say a 3 race series being on 1 track they do it over 2 or 3, you can pick your car at the begining and your team so you can have your own team paint job, Not alot of people on at 3.30am LOL but there were enough insomniacs for me to allways get straight into a race. I did a few open wheels, GT1 and some freestyle drift. all prety much good idiot free races which were close! Apart from when I took a laborghini out on a GT1 race......just don't it corners like a boat compared to the other cars! Finaly the teir system of events, you have the 3 countrys and 3 license tieres for each, well clear a whole teir and you race a specific team in a challenge race.....and get a bonus?????? I've just got the tuscan race and the touring car race to do on the european rookie teir to do.
There is no way to invite friends into ranked or unranked matches, and the private rooms require a password, if any of you see a gtplanet race room the code is GTP if anyone else sets up a forum race could we all use this name and code? I'll be on tonight! Rumor control says the in game XMB is in update 2.40 due out before or at the time of MGS4....this is a prety solid rumour hitting the largest of the websites such as PS fanboy ect ect ect.....this should allow us to invite people into games on the unranked side of things, also the trophy system is said to be in the same patch.

no friend invites? that's a ridiculous decision imo. :(
i have bought Grid for PC today, love the graphics and feel !
My luck it was sold out for PS3 in all 4 shops i was today.
ok i'll wait for this ingame xmb (t-shirts lol) then, no friends invites makes it useless for me. GT5p is enough annoyance without friends/ own music options :(
No invites, no buy for PS3!
The game itself kicks a55 despite the demo 👍
LOL my PC cost the same than my PS3, and every game i tested looked and played so much better on the PC, that's ridiculous too
( Jericho, NFS Carbon, NFS Prostreet, UT3, etc etc )

My bad i don't like PCs anyway :( really thought the PS3 could do better, and on top of that i don't think it will get any better ( graphics ) with ingame xmb (whenever ), it'll just eat up the last free resources :indiff:

erm not seen any unrealistic top ends? They are just perseived unrealisticly from some cars, the open wheelers with the motorbike engines (JCRS or something) top out at 138mph ish but feel quicker than the GT2 lambo at 200mph+ Again remember these are track cars not road versions. As for the PC Fanboy...I thought all you guys died in the 90's (sorry couldn't resist LOL)
I really have to state a bit of the obvious though the game isn't an out and out simulator, I've gone into drifts at 100mph+ on Grid.....I did it by accident at 80mph+ in my celica one daythanks to a flat runflat tyre.....there realy is no comparison....then again the iminent fear of death hasn't been coded for the PS3 yet (unlike windows Vista....sorry didit again LOL)

I must say that I'm completely blown away after my Porsche GT3 Experience at Istanbul and my F3 race at the Nurburgring. I felt intense, actionpacked and the replays are very well done. Enjoyed the h.e.l.l. out if it this evening.

So you find it good to have no invite option, really ?
I must admit though what i said sounds fanboyish, but why PC?
Im a disappointed PS fanboy if any ...
Wasnt my idea to delay anything and all for PS3
HOME end of 2007 anyone? GT5? XMB ? Good luck with that!
Oh and the screentearing looks so nice on GT5p 👍
bet you say there's none, right?

You know, after a good few hours on the game today the collisions are really anoying me. I don't mind the AI being agressive, the problem is that colliding with the AI is like colliding with a wall in many cases. Your car goes flying or spinning off and they just carry on like they've hit a traffic cone or something. I don't mind if the AI does the pit manouver on me and I spin, but I do mind it when afterwards I do the pit manouver on the AI and I spin. I did some testing to see if it was just me getting clouded judgment and no, I honestly couldn't spin the AI by tapping their rear wing, I tried pushing on them harder and harder and then what happened, my car spun. Hitting the AI is like hitting a garbage truck, the number of times I've been side swiped and the AI car has just plodded along like it's hit nothing is getting on my nerves. I wouldn't mind if I had the option of being agressive back, but whever I am I'm the one that loses out anyway.

The game is still fun, but it's far from a classic. The handling is the big problem, but the amazingly stuck to the road AI isn't doing it any favours.
