Im another one who went against my word and bought, and i am glad i did, it is so fun and addictive. Plus the tracks and car choices are great. Really glad i bought it.

It's funny how most the people who weren't too keen on the demo have in the end bought the game and enjoying it from the sounds of it. Obviously Codies did a good job in the end. :)

The smartest move they made was making it so you could actually see and interact with other players. Unlike what they did with Dirt. Dirt was an awesome single player game but not being able to see or interact with people online was what killed that game instantly.
At least Codemasters learned from their mistake in Dirt. 👍

Perfect... ? I'd call it a FAIL.

I get a email from codemasters "ITS OUT NOW" at gamestop, circuit city and best buy All the online sites say JUNE 3...

I go to Gamestop... "no it's not out til tomorrow" "June 3? must be the shipping date".

I go to Circuit city... They barely have a 360 section and there's only one copy of DiRT.

[censored] amazing.

Did a few Midnight Togue events last night (including the first Japanese Head to Head) and they are great fun, not exactly mainstream 'motorsport' but fun none the less.

The one thing I have to congratulate Codemasters for is managing not to turn this into a NFS clone, yes it does have drift and togue events in it, but the still feel very much like motorsport events.

This may well be firmly an arcade racer, but boy is it a fun one.

It also looks like downloadable content could well be on its way in the future as well....

Threespeech: So you have some new ideas for downloadable content?

CM: We do have some new ideas. There’s also a lot of stuff where, when you’re making a game, there’s always stuff you genuinely can’t fit in the time. Some of those ideas are still there and we’d love to get them in – some for the online community and some for the single-player game.

Threespeech: You’ll be supporting this title with new content for quite a while?

CM: Yes, we definitely do want to. I mean, it’s going to be a while before there’s another one – we’ll see how well this one does and how it’s received by the public. We definitely want to maintain support for the game, to keep people interested and excited. We want to be there in 12 months time, still challenging people online.

Perfect... ? I'd call it a FAIL.

I understand what you mean. Here, the game was supposedly released May 30th, but only today I got confirmation from one store that they have it :indiff:

But what I meant was that this release, at least in the PS3 world, comes at the exact time to have great sales. GT5:P is getting "old" (even if you still play it, you're now ready and willing to buy something else), and GT5 is still nothing but news and rumours. Probably it won't be out before 2009.

Konami doesn't show any sign of a possible sequel to EPR so ... Codemasters has and will have, for a long time, the only racing "full" game available for the PS3.

That's why I think the timing of this release is almost perfect.

Come on vip you should know by now that the date listed is the tuesday SHIP date. That means it wont come out until the next day which is wednesday. The only exception to this is with really big games like Halo 3, GOW, GTA4. All other games come out on wednesday in the US and its always been that way.
With that said I am picking up my copy tonight.

Saw this in the CodeM forum, decided to copy and paste it here:

"Hi Folks.
The studio has furnished me with this list of fixes made in the upcoming patch.

unless obviously platform-specific, the fixes will apply to all versions.

the Current ETA for the patch is at the end of next week.

This may be subject to change"

GRID Patch change list.

• Changes to what is displayed in lobby when a player has kick votes.
o The player who has been voted for can see this fact and the number of votes they have received.
o Players who have voted to kick someone can see who they voted for but cannot see the number of votes.
o Players who have not voted do not see anything.

• Added ability to get the next page of sessions in private session results (PC and PS3)

• Banned sessions no longer appear in private session list.

• Reverse gear is now disabled for the first two seconds of a network race to stop players reversing off the start line.

Holy crap thats rediculous for a game that just came out. Trying to decide if this will be worth the purchase. I actually planned on picking it up in about 4 hours. :nervous:
Oh well if I dont like it my local Gamestop will give me a 100% refund.

Well, the only thing I will be super glad for is the ability to look left and right in the bonnet view, if I ever get this game, ofcourse.

From,
Chris.

I wonder if those with 360's that have no hard drive can get an updated full version of the ame directly from CM, or do they just have to live with the bugs and no updates? If you can't get an updated disc, and I were in their position, I'd be rightly pissed. :ouch:

I'm all for having the ability to make game updates, but for customers with no hard drives, the developers should then also offer a replacement program so that those customers are not stuck with an incomplete or bug ridden game.

That's why I think the timing of this release is almost perfect.

Sucks it wasn't available to you when it was suppose to be... Anyway, I figured that. I was just using your words as a spring board for my frustration. Yeah, with GT5p biting the big one and FM2 freezing all the damn time this fills the bill MORE than enough. 👍

Come on vip you should know by now that the date listed is the tuesday SHIP date. That means it wont come out until the next day which is wednesday.

💡 Umm... oh, uh... right. My bad, didn't get that memo... I was going off of what Codemasters, the commercials and online review sites said, never looked at the fine [censored] print. Damn me.

• When viewing in spectator mode – wheels should now turn correctly.

uh, ok... ? lol

All that and no fix to view other drivers during replay... 👎

:odd: If you open it how are you able to get a full refund and give the game back...?

I guess I must have a Retard version of GS/EB over here because they don't do anything of what people have been telling me about.

I have been going to my local Gamestop long before they were even gamestop so they have no problem returning games that I am not happy with. But in all honesty I have only returned a couple games in all the years I have known them. The funny part is they have my name and address memorized because I have been there so many times.

GS/EB are the store versions of EA... they are worthless.

I had a friend tell me he could get a [censored] load off when trading in games (you have to be a membor though to get the added %...) and so I went to see how much I could get for my games and I'd get more back if I burned them...

Unfortunately the freezing problem still exists with the US version. I have played a couple races and every time the computer AI crashes it freezes for about 1 second. Basically a massive frame drop.

So far the game is really good but this is a major major problem that needs fixed asap.

Fix due at the end of the week! To be honest, I'm not seeing any problems with the PS3 version, just optermisations and some stuff I've not come accross in my 11 seasons (saying that had a few laggy games, about 1 in 20) I know the 360 version has had some online and freeze problems from the start, hats of the CM for coming up so quick with such a huge patch, not just fixes but alterations to make the game better as well!
With modern games being so much larger and more complex, plus all the variations of HDD sizes and internet setups it's no wonder there are so many patches apearing, If you look also at the cost of development and the limited testing time (due to costs) I think we shouls get used to this situation, just aplaud the recent instances of developers getting patches out on the networks so quickly.....and yes there are those exceptions, but on the whole it's prety slick how the problems are addressed so rapidly. Take the reverse lock for instance, theyve come accross people cheating by starting in reverse to wipe out the cars behind andget a clear shot at the first corner and patched it..........congrats to CM for being on the ball!

Ok I seriously give up on GRID I have been playing for at least 3 hours straight and I am extremely disappointed in this game online and offline. I am just going to bring it back to gamestop tomorrow for a 100% refund and then just rent it for 5 days. :ill:

I'd rather have it on the 360, I think he favors the 360 anyway. I don't remember him getting a PS3 either. Speaking of the PS3, i tried to play GT5p and ot frustrated in the end... It was a big mistake because I'm craving GRiD that much more now. I put on the demo to try to get though tonight. One way or another I'll have it tomorrow, but I won't be able to play it til the afternoon. :grumpy:

Well, my dad very kindly bought GRID for me yesterday while he was at the shop, and let me tell you - I LOVE THIS GAME! :D

There's just so many things I like about it - first of all, the photo-realistic graphics, which for me even surpasses GT5P; the incredibly close racing - each race is as exciting as the last; the damage model - the deformation when you hit a barrier is just incredible; also the option to run your own team, and to also paint it your own colours and apply your own sponsors.

I had a good solid run on it last night and I've already got my B licences for all 3 regions, and my European A licence, and the American one is almost there too. The drifting is just awesome, the F3 races are intense (racing them at Spa is a blast!) and Le Mans is just something else, flying down Mulsanne at nearly 200mph with a Panoz breathing down your neck really puts you under pressure. Plus the music which kicks in with 3 in-game hours to go doesn't help too much either!

If I had to pick out my favourite cars right now, I would go for:

Lambo Murcielago RGT: Yes, this car is pretty much like Marmite in this game - you either love it or hate it, and when I first raced it at Istanbul, I thought it was perfect :) It really suits my driving style, and it's very nicely balanced with virtually no sliding at all. Love it

Saleen S7R: Same as the Lambo, only the acceleration is a little slower, but nonetheless, still a good car.

Courage LC70: Raced it at Spa, and it just gripped and gripped all the way round, plus it was awesome to drive from the cockpit view.

Chevy Lacetti: I prefer this over the BMW, mainly because it's more forgiving because it's front wheel drive. Nice, fun racer.

For me there's no doubt about it - forget GT, Forza, PGR, GTR, rFactor, Race 07, all of those. This is the new benchmark for racing games. This is THE best racing game I have ever played in my life. Just absolutely stunning. 10/10 :D

Yes I have the 360 but I plan on getting the PS3 eventually (probably early 2009 for sure). I have nothing against the PS3 and never have. I have always been an open minded multi console gamer. I am just frustrated with the problems in Grid.

G.T
Can you care to explain what you found wrong with it?
As I said above that 1-2 second freezing glitch is very annoying. Thats a major part of the problem. There is also something with the campaign that makes the AI faster and upgrades their cars if you restart a race. Thats frustrating. I will keep the game over the weekend and if I am not used to the issues by then I will take it back and get a full refund. I think getting rammed to my death in several games online didnt help any at all. What started out as a really fun game just got extremely frustrating last night. I realize some of these issues will be fixed with patches but why cant games just come out working right in the first place? If I want to play games that need patches I will go back playing PC games.
The rest of the game was really enjoyable so I am trying hard to give it a chance. Maybe I will have some better luck tonight and over the weekend.

I'm glad you're not the only one who notices the other cars can become faster than you... It's really odd.

And yeah, online can be hectic, but I don't know of any racing game where there isn't any idiots. You would think damage would penalise other players but it doesn't since you can take a huge beating without the car being crippled. Oh well.

Sucks to have the freezing issues though - guess I'm a lucky one.

Yeah the AI problem is the most frustrating part of the game. I was on the Touge event with the old Mustang against another old mustang and lost. I thought ok no big deal I will just restart. So I restart only to see I am against a modified 350Z. Ummm ok I though?? Then I lost again. Ok maybe this time I will be against an old muscle car again...Wrong I get put against a modified NSX and get crushed. At this point I am basically behind in every event how with what looks like no way to with the first touge event. What the heck???
So like I said I will try it over the weekend and see if I can still get ahead in the game. I will try to ignore the freezing issue and the AI bashing the heck out of me. Just makes me mad they release a game that clearly needs patched on the first day. The rest of the game is very fun and enjoyable.

Thats strange the AI issue, i restart alot in many races and i always come up against exactly the same opponents. Is your problem xbox only because i have ps3 version....

still lovin the game, going to play after typing this.
