I bought this on PS3 last week and ive got to say its the best racing game ive ever played - the graphics are amazing and the races are so intense and action packed, the other cars spinning out and having blow outs just like in real life - theres some right pile-ups aswell - the tight street circuits are insane..

Love the way you can hire team mates aswell to drive for your own team, and they keep in radio contact...you can form some right rivalrys with some of the drivers hehe..

the smashes look excellent,on a par with Burnout imo,im really impressed with the graphics,a lot better than i'd hoped..some of the races are really memorable - i was racing on the Belguin Spa track, going up the hill and a car in front of me had a blow out and span - i saw him the next lap on his roof,so he must have flipped after that..you dont get that kind of stuff on GT,just cars bouncing off walls..

i know Gran Turismo 5 looks beautiful and all that (im a big fan of the series),but this game makes it feel so BORING,the racing is just so much better, they really need to up their game for the full GT5 in order to keep up with this now,i know GT is more of a 'driving simulator',but i really cant go back to GT5 Prologue now after playing this..

I hired GRID fro the week, since I was not prepared to fork out for another driver game, but I have to say, I am enjoying it alot.... the variety of different racing modes is great, and although I am crap at drifting in GT, it's really pretty good fun on Grid... I just managed to hook up a 13x combo worth 5.2 million points in my last race :D

It's a shame that GT5:P has set the bar so high in terms of graphics (being in 1080p mode really makes a big difference), but still the overall visuals in Grid are impressive nevertheless...

Grid is already on my Amazon wishlist, and I think it might have to stay there until Xmas time...

edit: Just got a 29x Combo worth 17.6 million points :dopey:

I finally got it last week and its a decent game, not the best but for sure not the worst. I was expecting it to be a little more challenging though. Some of the races are very hard though, but most aren't that hard at all ( i have it on pro and everything disabled so don't start on the , " stop playing it on easy" ) I thought i would really like to play it online but the online just doesn't interest me for some reason.

I think I might have to bump this up my shopping list after a few hours on it... it's awesome fun, this game... I'm hopeless at it, but for sheer comedy value alone, it has already won me over to a large extent. The damage and accidents you can have are pretty spectacular! I was doing really well in a race just then until the pillock infront of me spun out, causing me to collide with him. This sent me flying through the air and I eventually came to rest atop a crash barrier with wheels akimbo.

Its funny that when i try to crash just to get some type of comedy situation out of it i can never get that much of a crash, but when im in a serious race and on the last lap and the guy beside me thinks my car would look better under his. I have landed on top of several opponents while in a race and just sat there until weight transfer finally got me off. Pretty funny when it happens.Or another thing that is fun to see is to be out in first and clip some of the destroyable barriers hat will spray tires and debris all of the track and then do a 180 and sit and wait to watch the show! Sometimes they all just slam on the breaks and slowly make theyre way through it, sometimes they slam into the tires and debris and cause a massive pile up. And then the very rare but sometime, sometimes they will just keep trucking right on through all of it without even acting like its there.

The damage is brilliant. I love GRID just for the crashes, even though I only have the demo. It's fun to try and slam into every car racing possible, and leaving scratches and dents all over them :D I absolutely love T-boning cars into tyre walls and destroying them in the process. Then I switch to the Instant Replay, and watch it over and over again 👍

I still need to get this, but Camera and Guitar come first at the moment. I need to get myself away from the TV and PS3 anyway.

Has anyone had any problems with the game not giving you achievements on 360? I have been trying to unlock the Gentleman achievement, which is where you Win an entire GRID World Event without making contact with other cars. I finally did that last night and it didn't give me the achievement, what a rip. I also got ripped off the other day on the 1-2 Win achievement.

EDIT: Well i finally got my deserved 1-2 win for completing it yesterday, still haven't got the gentleman achievement yet. Its hard to get, especially when the other racers like to jam theyre breaks on like they just ran up on a 90 degree turn...

Nobody has any input on this? Before this game came out this thread was like a christmas tree.

hello, i am not sure if there is a limit to the resolution on the PC version, but i cant set it to any higher than 1280X1024. I have a Pavilion m9040n Elite with 8600GTS, DFP, screen res 1680x1050. Have any of you guys seen this problem b4.

Thanx.

My pc is older than jesus or i would help. Good luck on getting an answer considering this thread is dead as dead can get.

I purchased the PS3 version of Grid 3 weeks ago and guess what ? I like it and it's fun to play.
While Mr. Yamauchi's team is dragging it's feet to produce GT5 and feeding us with GT5 Prologue that is just a bloated glorified driver license test , Codemasters at least give us a no frill real racing game playable right now ( not in 2009 ) with the best track in the world ( Spa- Francorchamps ) , some of the best racing cars ever built ( Prototype C ) , some great action and reliable online playing.
How can GT5 pimp itself as a " real driving simulator " with completely unrealistic racing events : Even the great Magic Senna himself in real life couldn't pass 15 other cars in just 1 lap on the Daytona race track.

I finally got this! I am loving it at the moment, who cares about the physics? I mean the game is fun, sometimes you need games which are just enjoyable to play and this is one of them. I love the the whole idea of choosing which sponsors are on your car depending on how much they pay, I also like the team mate idea. So far I've had 3 team mates, 2 fired and one is about to be fired if he doesn't increase his game! I'll give a more detailed review at a later date.

Anyone up for a Grid Championship if I set one up when I get my PS3 back after it's been fixed?

I could always organise it with a race each week.

Funny you mention that as I'm also trying to set up a Grid Championship. Wanna team up?

Man, only took 6 months for people to actually try it ;)
I'm still enjoying this game; bought it at release. It gets pretty freakin' hard tho...

I'm on 360 tho, so if anyone wants to do a championship on that, i'd be game.

How is the game comparing to PGR4? My reason to buy this game is the touge. All the new racing game don't have touge.
It is a lot more fun than PGR4. It also has some of the best drifting physics I have seen in a game. GRID is well worth buying. 👍

Well I'm going to pick this up at some point in the next couple of weeks, the new DLC is out on PSN today, anyone got (or can get) some pictures of the S2000, i'm intrigued to see what it looks like as I read it's the new drift car (my primary selling point for this game is the drifting).

8 cars for 10.00 seems overpriced to me. I will pass. If it was a 1998 - 2002 Trans am then I might consider.

It's pretty bad on price considering each car is only useable in certain events, so I won't be chasing the DLC, however I have ordered my copy of the game, should arrive next week :)

Found a video with all the new cars:

Now that I see the Mclaren F1 GTR, the TVR Cerbera Speed 12, and the Nissan GT-R, I've got to get Grid:).
