I did it to my ZR1. It was tuned to the max before, and when I did the upgrade, i was shocked to see it went down in hp. It lost 130hp, but it went down 500kg in weight. Not to mention it came with all the aero upgrades and the handling is 10x better than before.

Definitely a huge improvement overall... the racing mod adds all 3 lightweight stages to make it 1000kg, doesn't mod hp but gives the racing exhaust, full tranny, full suspension, and all the drivetrain upgrades except LSD.

I have mine modded to 440hp... did a bit of tuning on it and I can pull lap times on the indy track about the same as my IS-F racing concept (535hp stock, also with a tune).

Racemodding pissed me off cause it got rid of my paint color i really liked for White. and i gotta find a new color for it.
So if you buy a car planning to race mod it give it the color you want afterwards.

all the cars you can racemod are labeled as "Premium/Standard" cars on the Car lists. (not in the game though)

Did you check to make sure that it didn't take your items you bought and turned them off and you need to reapply them?

Racing Mods don't just change the look, but performance as well... So when you purchase the racing mod it will update the weight and make some performance upgrade... I just wonder if when you bought it, it didn't keep the items you bought, but took it back to "Racing Mod Stock"... How much was the RM for the ZR1 - if it was just over 300,000 then I think that's proof that it went to "RM Stock" because thats how much it is for me to perform the RM without any mods currently on my ZR1...if it's less than 300,000 then it's taking into account that you already own those upgrades and is reducing the price based on you not needing to purchase them...

I currently have put race mods on 2 of my cars... My DC5 in Premium White and a '69 Camaro that is Matte Black and gorgeous! I love both cars and they turned out fantastic. I'm currently working on building a ZR1 that will end up being yellow as my C6R since the C6R isn't in the game...

Anyone know if it is worth the price, or is it cheaper to just do the individual mods? I think the ZR-1 race mod is 300K+.

Though I guess with it being a ZR1 which has a C7 in it... It would actually make it a C7R that looks like a C6R - The actual C7R is a little sore on the eyes, but whatever...

It's worth it... overall ontop of getting mods you can buy individually... you overall get much better handling

17 cars out of 1031????
This is so embarrassing. Not to mention that you can't even change wheels on standard cars.

They spent too much time developing gtpsp and 3d for gt5 (both completely useless). Good job SONY, not PD.
/facepalm

Slightly less power, but less weight so it tends to even out. Also, you can now adjust front downforce and achieve higher downforce levels overall. And it looks more awesomer.

'91 NSX RM.

I still don't think the less power thing is correct... I still believe that if you tuned it before you did the RM that you just have to reinstall some of the parts... I really could be wrong, but I still have to believe that the few that have had this "problem" are seeing the system set the car back up as if you never tuned the car before and it the parts need put back on...

Really? It's still about 10% of the premium cars that can do it... and on most of the others you can change the aero enough to look like a RM (My lambo looks like it could have been in this years GT2 series at Le Mans without actuall having RM... other than not having decals).

I don't see how some could view this as "embarrassing"...

Exactly what I was thinking. Ouch. :ouch:

Maybe I typed it funny. Let's try again. :D

With my NSX as an example, the fully modified RM makes slightly less power, but also weighs slightly less than if you took the NSX and did everything to it but the Racing Modification. I don't have numbers in front of me, but the differences are there, albeit pretty small.

The main sell here for me was the significantly more adjustable downforce and notably more muscular appearance.

Are you able to reinstall the parts you already bought before the RM?

I just find it interesting that it would make that type of an adjustment... It's not big in my mind and I still love the cars I have that have RM (but I did my RM first then tuned so I didn't see a difference)..

also...Do you happen to know if your RM was cheaper because you already had some of the parts it was going to install or was it the same amount?

SO if I Race Modify a tuned car, those Mods will disappear?
If so, I think I will buy another Fresh car and RM it without Mods. THat way I have my own tunned car and RM car.

here's the Mitsubishi Evo IX.

Is a real pleasure to drive.

I had two '91 NSXs, both with everything that I could do done to them, with one being the RM. The RM with all upgrades cost more overall by a not insignificant margin -- again, I don't have exact numbers in front of me, sorry.

When I did the RM on that NSX, I did it first -- before I upgraded whatever parts I could in the Tuning Shop -- so I can't really say what got removed and what could be reinstalled.

you have to reinstall parts, got to tune and you will see. It actually goes up in horsepower and way down in weight!

Only 17? that's it?? over 1000 cars in the game and only 17 can be made into race cars? shame ...

What car was that?
Yep it was the Skyline

Ok, here are some more detailed results of my Civic RM. I never found any pics before doing it myself so I hope this helps someone. The tiny pics on-screen aren't a very good indication.

Before mod I had 251HP and 930KG. After mod we have 194HP (this went up to within 10HP of the before stat after I reinstalled all the mods the RM removed) and 845KG.

Outside of the car pics below. I took the last one to illustrate that the stripes are actually little vents as it's a mystery until you get up close - I always thought they were stripes. Number on the car after RM is 1, but you can change it, like on the go karts (hence mine is 88). Inside the car there is a rollcage visible when you do rear view and there is a more black theme including new steering wheel and gauges.

Wait so you RMd the car and your Horsepower went down?

So I have a 69 camaro but when I click the icon for racing mod. it says something like "this car cant do that". Is there something Im missing?
