1986-1988 Holden VL Calais Turbo

cp4790098336483638234.jpg

Body Style: 4-door sedan, 5-door wagon
Engine: RB30ET 3.0L turbocharged straight-6
Power: 201hp
Torque: 218ft-lb
Weight: 1350kg
Transmission: Nissan MX7 5-speed manual, Jatco 4-speed automatic
Drivetrain: Front-engine, rear-wheel-drive
Additional Information: One of the most popular and regarded as one of the "best" Commodores ever made, the VL was the final Commodore made on the original architecture. As Holden's straight-6 and V8 engines weren't available to be run on 91-octane fuel (new laws passed in Australia as of 1st January 1986), the V8 was released later and the straight-6 was scrapped and an imported straight-6 from Nissan in Japan, the RB30E, was used.

The Turbo models have become a cult classic and are one of the most sought-after non-limited edition Commodores, because of their classic shape and easy-to-modify engine.

1967 Hino BRE Samurai
img_707248_41180153_0.jpg

Racing Class: GT racing
Engine: 1293cc tuned Inline 4 engine, taken from the Hino Contessa 1300
Power Output: 110 hp
Torque: TBA
Weight: 1,170 pounds/530 kg
Transmission: 5-speed gearbox
Drivetrain: Mid mounted engine, Rear wheel drive car
Additional Information: Designed by American Peter Brock, who was also involved in the creation of the Shelby Daytona Coupe prototypes. It also has an adjustable rear wing, many years before the Ferrari F40 did. The car attempted to race in the 1967 Japanese Grand Prix (where it hit 220 km/h during practice), but it was disqualified for having a far too low ground clearance.
The Samurai project was then sadly cut short after the death of Hino's president and the purchase of Hino by Toyota, and a planned Le Mans entry never came to fruition.
I'm still trying to find information about the torque figures, this car is a tricky one to find info about. This also means that it's hard to verify some of the numbers, but I hope that's not too much of a problem. If someone wants to help me on this, I'll be thankful.

That thing is really cool.

That thing is really cool.

Thanks, I found this by accident while I was doing a research for, believe or not, that Fiat 600 copy that is currently being polled. I stumbled upon a car called the Hino Contessa, which in turn led me to the Samurai. I think that even despite being a racing car, it deserves a chance to be rated. I just GT916 doesn't mind the lack of data, very little is known about the actual performance of the car, so I had to pick bits from Japanese websites on the matter...

Is this the correct picture? The door and A-pillar look like the S15 Silvia Varietta. This looks more like a Mustang underneath.
