1961 - 1970 Jaguar Mark X/420G

01.jpg

Body Style: 4-door saloon
Engine: 3.8 XK I6, 4.2 XK I6
Power: 265 bhp
Torque: 260 lb;ft, 283 lb;ft
Weight: 1778 kg
Transmission: 3-speed automatic, 4-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front-engine, rear wheel drive
Additional info: Successor to the Mark IX, the American marked aimed Mark X was the largest Jaguar saloon on sale during its production. As were other Jaguars during the period it was also technologically advanced, with independent front and rear suspension, disk brakes with servo-assist in both front and rear, power steering, and steel monocoque. In 1964 a 4.2 litre XK engine with increased torque became available, along with optional air-conditioning. The name was changed to 420G in 1966.

2012+ BMW M6 (F13) Gran Coupe

IMG_9882.jpg

Body Style :
4 door Coupe
Engine: Twin Turbo 4.4 V8
Power: 560 bhp
Torque: 500 lb;ft
Weight: 1950 kg
Transmission: 7-speed automatic, 6-speed manual
Drivetrain: Front engine, Rear wheel drive
Additional info: M6 Gran Coupe is both better to drive and better to look at than the related M5. Fitted with the familiar 560-hp twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8, it delivers "monstrous performance" according to the carmaker's press release. Zero to 60 takes a claimed 4.2 seconds and top speed is limited to 155 mph even though the car likely could reach about 200 mph without a governor. Active M Differential helps put the power to the ground in effective. The standard brakes are quite strong, but response and fade-resistance are even better with the optional carbon-ceramic brakes.

Silly me for not realizing this earlier, but you have two nominations in the queue (this would make it three). You can only have one at a time. The Jiotto Caspita will remain as the nomination you have in the queue at this time.

2003-2009 Bullet Roadster SS

Bullet_Orange.jpg

Engines: "Bullet Specification" Lexus 1UZ-FE 4.0L V8, Sprintex supercharger
Power: 436hp
Torque: 424lb-ft
Weight: 1180 kg
Transmission: 5-speed manual, 4-speed automatic
Drivetrain: Front engine, rear wheel drive
Body Styles: 2-door convertible, 2-door coupe
Additional Info: A low-volume Australian-made supercar made to look like a wide-bodied MX-5.

Originally Bullet Cars used a 13B rotary and 5-speed gearbox from the Series 4 RX-7 and planted it in a spaceframe chassis with the mostly-untouched NA Mazda MX-5 body surrounding it. Due to its major success they developed a V8 model using a TVR-sourced Rover 4.6L V8, and when they became of short supply they moved to the Lexus 1UZ-FE V8 as seen in the Soarer (SC400) and LS400.

In 2003 the Bullet Roadster became the first low-volume Australian-built vehicle to comply with Australian Design Rules and therefore was able to be sold as a bona-fide production car. The Lexus V8 was fully stripped and re-engineered to comply with ADR emissions; in naturally aspirated form the Roadster is capable of 0-100km/h in 5 seconds and revs to 7800rpm, but the real hero is the Roadster SS, with a Sprintex supercharger increasing power to 320kW and torque to 575Nm. The SS was capable of a 12-second quarter mile and 0-100km/h in 3.9 seconds.

The drivetrain was strengthened including a heavy-duty clutch and limited-slip differential, brakes were upgraded to 4-pot Brembos, and the body was made using carbon-composites and fibreglass over a new, lightweight spaceframe that exceeded the required torsional rigidity specifications by double.

It's not a modified or a custom vehicle; while the Roadster is built to order it is, as stated in the additional information, ADR compliant and was available for purchase from Bullet Cars as a low-volume production vehicle. Naturally aspirated examples were $98,000, the SS was AU$120,000.

25 were made.

Since I have my last opportunity to poll a race car, I can poll something I think should be somewhere on the cool wall before it's completely closed to race cars.

1976-1977 Tyrrell P34
ScheckterJody1976-07-31Tyrrell-FordP34.jpg

Racing Class: Formula 1
Engine: Ford-Cosworth DFV 2,993 cc, Normally Aspirated V8
Power Output: 481 HP @ 10,000 RPM
Torque: 270 ft-lb @ 7,000 RPM
Weight: 595 kg (1976), 620 kg (1977)
Transmission: 5-Speed (1976) and 6-Speed (1977) Sequential Manual Transmission,
Drivetrain: Mid-Engine, Rear Wheel Drive
Additional Information: One of the most radical entries in Formula 1, this six-wheeled racer was designed by Derek Gardner. Four specifically manufactured 10 inch diameter wheels were made for the front of the car, with normal spec tires in the rear. The concept was that the smaller wheels would reduce the drag that the larger tires had. Introduced at the 1976 Spanish Grand Prix, this car had a spectacular 1-2 finish at the Swedish Grand Prix, with Jody Sheckter taking the gold. Was able to produce solid results, but never won the world championship.

Wait! One last racecar nomination.
1992-1993 Peugeot 905B Evo
Peugeot_905.JPG

Engine: 3,499cc SA35-A2 80º V10
Power: 670 hp
Torque: 422 lb-ft
Weight: 750 kg
Transmission: 6-speed manual
Drivetrain: Mid-engine, rear wheel drive
Body Styles: 2-door Group C racecar
Other info: Won two of three 24 Hours of Le Mans races it entered (1992 and 1993). Used a technically advanced carbon fiber chassis developed by Dassault and a light alloy SA35-A1 3499 cc naturally aspirated V10 engine that was similar to F1 engines of the time. It's V10 engine was used in the unsuccessful McLaren MP4/9 Formula 1 race car. Plus, it sounds absolutely gorgeous.

Body Styles: 2-door Group C racecar
Going to accept your nomination anyway because the info is there, but this should be Racing Class.

EDIT: Wait...you already have a nomination in the queue. Wait for the one you already have to be polled, then you can poll this.
EDIT2: Or, actually not, because you used your chance to nominate the Giulia. You can change your nomination to this if you want.

Quick question: would this classify as a racecar?

1997 SSC Programme Limited Thrust SSC
upload_2015-8-23_22-16-29.png

Racing Class: Land-speed record
Engine: 2 Rolls-Royce Spey 205 Turbofan Jet Engines (how do you find displacement on jet engines?)
Power Output: 110,000 hp
Torque: 223 nW (50,000 ft-lbs)
Weight: 10.5 tonnes (10,500 kg)
Transmission: None, Jet-Engined
Drivetrain: Mid-engined Jet Car (no-wheel drive?)
Additional Information: Currently holds the land-speed record, at 763 MPH. First (and currently only) car to break the sound barrier.

I'll try editing this for more facts tomorrow, if this actually is considered a racecar. If not, nevermind.

1936-1937 Hupmobile 618-G

217586_5d36794ad6_low_res.JPG

Body Style: 4 door sedan, 2 door coupe, 2+2 coupe.
Engine: 4.0L I6.
Power Output: 101 hp.
Torque: Unknown.
Weight: Unknown.
Transmission: 3 speed manual.
Drivetrain: Front engine, Rear wheel drive.
Additional Information: Limited production numbers for the 1936 model year, due to production being suspended for 18 months, shortly after it started. The car was marketed as a luxury vehicle, and competed with cars such as the Ford Business coupe. Although Hupmobile was technologically advanced for its time, the brand faded out in the summer of 1939. This was one of the last few models made by Hupmobile, being replaced by the ill-fated Hupmobile Skylark.

2001-2006 B Engineering Edonis
2001-B-Engineering-Edonis-Top-View-Photo-With-Open-Door.jpg

Body: 2 Door Coupe
Engine: 60 Degree V12 (Twin Turbo)
Displacement: 3760 cc / 229.4 in³
Power: 680 bhp / 507 KW @ 8,000 rpm
Torque: 735 Nm / 542 ft lbs @ 3,200 - 3,600 rpm
Top Speed: 365 km/h (227 mph)
0-60 mph: 3.9 s
Weight: 1,300 kilo / 2,866 lbs
Chassis: Aluminium body on carbon fiber monocoque
Gearbox: 6 speed Manual
Drivetrain: Mid Engine, Rear Wheel Drive
ADDITIONAL INFO: This is the B. Engineering Edonis, as launched on January 1, 2001. The B Engineering Edonis was launched in 2001 as a continuation of the Bugatti EB110 Super Sport. It was extensively re-engineered and only retained the Bugatti's carbon-fiber chassis. Both the exterior and interior were completely redesigned and the 3.5-liter Bugatti engine was also upgraded

The Bugatti engine was increased from 3500 to 3760 cc and the four small IHI turbochargers were upgraded to two larger units from the same manufacturer. Thus, engine power increased from 449 kW (602 hp) and 650 N·m (480 lb·ft) of torque to 507 kW (680 hp) at 8000 rpm and 735 N·m (542 lb·ft).

In addition, the 4WD triple-differential drivetrain from the original Bugatti was replaced with a much simpler and lighter RWD transaxle. This saved approximately 70 kg (154 lb) from the design.

At the time of launch, B Engineering claimed a maximum speed of 365 km/h (227 mph), while accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in only 3.9 seconds.

B Engineering planned to build only 21 vehicles for €760,000, but it is unlikely they reached that goal.

That wouldn't work, because I gave everyone a week after the nomination they had in the queue was given a poll thread at the time I posted the notice to nominate a race car. You have until Tuesday to change your Giulia to the 905 or just keep the Giulia and nominate something other than the 905 after it.

So, basically, if you had a nomination in the queue at the time of the post, you could wait for that to go up then nominate a race car. If you didn't nominate a race car, your chance is up unless you change the nomination.

Additional Information:

The Cien - Spanish for 100 - illustrates Cadillac's new design philosophy, melding design and technology in a mid-engine, two-seat sports car. In keeping with the brand's role as a technology flagship for General Motors, the premium V-12-powered Cadillac Cien concept car is a befitting icon to usher in the brand's 100th anniversary this year.

Trapezoidal air inlets are milled into the front-end surface graphically forming Cadillac's shield-like grille along with the centrally mounted badge. The bank of air inlets cools the front-mounted radiators, and is flanked on either side by vertical headlamps. Functional side air intake and exhaust vents lay flush with the surface of the car, opening up as required. Formal, directional sail panels, which appear to float above the surface, house air intakes for the V-12.

The body and chassis are made of carbon fiber composite that is lightweight and stiff. Cien is equipped with scissor-style doors that pivot at the base of the A-pillars upon opening.

Cadillac Cien's 7.5-liter, V-12 powerplant, which is visible through the car's rear window, is a new concept engine from GM Powertrain dubbed the Northstar XV12. The all-aluminum, double overhead cam (DOHC) four-valve V-12 engine genwerates 750 horsepower and 450 lb.-ft. of torque, yet it meets the packaging requirements and fuel economy standards of a V-8.

The Northstar XV12 concept engine features several technological advancements over today's V-8 engines, including: GM's Displacement on Demand technology, which allows the engine to run seamlessly on six cylinders at times to maximize fuel savings; direct injection gasoline combustion system for increased engine power, improved fuel economy and reduced emissions; and a combined starter generator for quicker, quieter starts.
