Today I loaded 4 brass slugs for pressure testing at the firearms and ammunition proof house. I'm crazy but not crazy enough to test highly experimental self loaded ammo on my own.
Thats how I load them. (Because of the lack of certain components I have to load them very differently than rifle rounds in my loading press. )
Since I lack a 12 gauge shell holder I prime the cases using my 200mm vice, a muzzleloader ball starter and a little metal plate. That way I can prime them very precisely, works like a charm.
Using Federal Large Rifle magnums.
Next I punch out the overpwoder wads, one a 12 mm felt wad and two overpowder cards made from milk carton, those are fire resistant and prevent the felt wad from burning inside the barrel.
Then I load 21 grains of Lovex S013 shotgun powder, the cards and wad, and then the 500 grain B&P big game slug (500 @ 1400 fps).
´
Then the cartridge is pushed into a custom crimping die with my vice thats crimps the case mouth to prevent all the stuff I put in it from falling out.
And here it is, the final product. (It kind of looks like the OAL isn't consistent but thats not the case, must be the shadows or lighting.
