In honor of our lovely Senators, Aero is putting these out.

Im currently going through the process to get my gun licence. Its a lot of messing around to get it in Australia and you can't get semi auto rifles. But I will be getting my grandpas 2 12 gauge shotguns when I get it.

Just found out that I can now disassemble an milsurp rifle where I always needed a hammer and a wooden dowel to remove some parts. Guess my new weight lifting regime is working.

I also bought a powder trickler..

Epic funny, but you gotta post it with that youtube video from the opinions forum.

I did not expect to see you here, but I wish you the very best with this. :D:tup:

I think the last I heard about requirements in Australia was Jay talking about the handgun ownership. I think he mentioned mandatory participation in some kind of test, or competition? I'm sure there was more than that to it, but that's the only part I remember. Hopefully there are less hoops to go thru for shotguns! I wish I could mail you cheap shotgun shells with the hot wheels, but I don't think the customs would like that.

How much longer until you can just do away with the rifles, point your finger and go "bang"?

Little by little, you turn this thread into Real Reloading thread.
De Leon the Moron is such an idiot pantywaist!
He's from your state, right? After seeing the video evidence, I think we have to go with that!

Something tells me customs wouldn't like it aswell. To get the Licence's im applying for your first have to do a Firearms safety course and then sit an exam. After that you have to apply for the Licence. To do that you first need a reason to have the guns. The reasons they except are being a member of a shooting club, you are a farmer that needs them to control pests, you have a letter from a farmer giving you permission to shoot pests on their land or you can do what I did and get an expression on interest to hunt letter from the Department of Primary Industries. When you have one of those you can then fill out the application form. To fill that out you need a witness and they must of known you for longer than 12 months and must have an approved job. Luckily my neighbour is a nurse and I have known her for nearly 2 years. After you have sent the application off it takes 28 days to get a reply. Now to buy a gun. To do this you have to go to the police station and get a permit to aquire a firearm. For your first gun the wait is 28 days again, unless you send the permit to aquire in at the same time as your application which cuts off 10 days from the waiting period. To keep the guns at home you must have an approved gun safe to keep them in. If the safe isn't over a 150kg empty it then has to be bolted to the wall and floor of your house. Also any ammo you have has to be stored separately from the gun. On top of all this the police can do a surprise inspection to check if you are obeying the rules.

I'm pretty sure The Man would rather it not say "PEW PEW PEW" on it.

God, I hope not. This country's not there yet, is it? California sure tries, but....... :D

I hope the American members are reading this, because we all sometimes suspicion that this is how they will take the guns away from the Americans. Little by little, inch by inch. In the end, it'll be so much hassle, nobody will want to own firearms anymore. Personally, stuff like more strict background checks, required gun safes & things make sense to me, then one day, you end up with Australian gun control! I feel for ya Ben & again, best of luck to you with your grandpa's shottys!

If Obama goes nuts with these executive orders I'm gonna go nuts with gun shopping.
If another panic & madness hits, we know now that .40 S&W's the way to go. They were the easiest handgun caliber to score.

On an unrelated note: I checked a few stores for .22, and they are still COMPLETELY gone. I still haven't even touched my stash, but seriously, it's been over a year now with this shortage. RIDICULOUS.

Still nothing here. All we get is a few boxes of deer slugs.

I believe .22LR is a myth. I mean, I have a few boxes, but outside of that, I do not think it exists.
I'll believe it if you mail the physical evidence to me(just a couple...... of bricks). Photos can be faked. :P

The funny thing is the situation here in Austria and Germany (Can't speak for the rest of the EU) has returned to almost normal. Ammo is available though the price hasn't dropped (it probably never will I guess) and reloading supplies are also available. I just bought 500pcs of 168 grain Sierra Matchkings.

Man am I glad that I reload, ammo has gotten really expensive though reloading supply prices have remained fairly stable... :P:P

Nobody reloads .22's! .................but point taken.

I still don't see many boxes of 9mm's, but other than it & .22LR, supply has pretty much returned to normal in my area. Thank god!

It pays off to have rifles all chambered in different calibers...and muzzleloaders! And lets not forget cast bullets molds. 👍

Exact opposite of my approach: I have a 1911 in .45ACP & a AR in .308. My next handgun shall be a modern .45ACP & next rifle, a bolt-action .308.

Of course, our approach to the hobby couldn't be more different. You: Full-time Pro & Me: Maybe 4 times a year. :ouch:

@Zenith

Man.... If only Fred saw that...
That thread is a mess, filled with sweeping generalization about everything(so 2000's!). LeMansAid or whatever his name was, he's about the only one worth your time. I swear the one you are talking about, he's still in junior high.

Question, why is ammo so short in the U.S?
