I finally got around to taking pictures of both of the above. Please excuse my phone's potato quality camera.

On an unrelated note to the pictures, I ordered an Aimpoint Comp ML3 today because good deal.
Just like the shotgun I own, but instead has the night sight that illuminates a bit in the dark.

Cool, but I wouldn't expect anything less from DARPA/DOD

I'm starting to like the Walther PPK. A lot. But I can't find any. I'm not looking for a Nazi era either, but maybe a blued one to own.
Are the PPKs (not the s model, just plural ppk) not for sale in the US or what? I find it odd that they say made in US and I can't find any new ones...

Anyways, whoever (edit: @a6m5 ) asked about the Mk III with the rubber grip, here it is:

And the Savage Model 24 I was talking about earlier too.

I'd assume that they make the PPK in far smaller quantities these days compared to all of their modern polymer guns. Buds gun shop dot com looks like it has some in stock but they are stainless. I think I've only ever seen 1 new one in stock between the few local gun shops where I am. I'm sure you can find some others if you are comfortable buying online.
yeah, the search begins....

I found the one I wanted too on that site, but it was out of stock. Looked at a review and saw it was posted two months ago (pissed me off a little).

I could sell you one. Maybe fired a handful of times in the 80s...

I thought it was you who had it. :D
I don't know, I'm still toying around with the idea. I'm interested but I'd have to go over it with my dad. If you have a few details which aren't already in this thread, could you message me?

OMG, OMG, SO MONEY. :embarrassed::tup: Great job dude. That thing is gorgeous. 👍

For some reason, I thought they made a 9mm too, but maybe I was thinking of the P38(P1?). I've had crush on both since I was a kid, but P38 was always my favorite. I didn't realize PPK was so affordable. @Swagger897 I bought my AR from Buds. Only one minor hiccup(fixed w/o hassle), and other than that, very smooth transaction. I'd buy from them again without any hesitation.

If they have it come up on the cheap (or if others can pull through) I'll definitely consider. But for $600 new I don't think so...
edit:
I was also looking at the Luger too recently but the PPK is more me. The ruger looks somewhat already like a P38 so I don't want a copy. I have some small hands too which is why I think I'd like the PPK more than the /s, which a lot of people I see do reviews complain of size, but it would be a good fit for me...

Finally had a chance to drop my Mosin 91/30 off to the gunsmith to have the holes for my RSI scope mount drilled/tapped. Also decided to have the front sight removed because I don't want to run into problems when I go to mount the scope.

I got a guy at work retiring next month. Big gun guy. The ongoing joke between us is how he severly lack people skills, but his dream is to become a Walmart greeter & get paid in ".22 shells & beer".

Retirement greeting card I'm going to make him(censored). Also, the surprise was ruined, but the gift I got him was kick ass, too.

He was just talking about Savage Model 24 today. He's interested in I guess .223/12 Gauge combo. I was showing him Swagger's pics and he recognized the Model 24. For some reason, I thought it was just a regular shotgun. :dunce:

My rifle has that big ass AR front sight in the front, but it doesn't get in the way of my scope at all.

Bought a CZ 452 bull barrel today, I finally felt the need to get a .22lr. And before you ask, yes, thats a SILVER Weaver grand Slam 3-10x40 on it. This scope was actually intended for a stainless steel rifle which didn't happen because of various reasons, and its nearly impossible to sell a silver scope so I'm stuck with it.

I don't think it looks too bad though, I like the dual-tone style and if anything it makes it look more unique, it stands out. The rifles name shall be ''mini silver back.'' :D

Oh, and the glass of the Weaver scope is so good, in my opinion it beats Redfield and mid range Leupolds, its my recommendation for scopes in the 250-350 price range. 👍

Words. Can not. Describe.

That's a beautiful .22 rifle, Michael. 👍 I totally agree on the scope, two-tone looks right, and it is quite attractive. If it was possible to paint it, I'd consider painting it, but without seeing it in person, it's hard to say that if I'd even want to. Congrats. Bad ass. I'm sure it'd shoot like a dream, too. CZ.....👍

Thank you, my rifle totally appreciates all the compliments! :sly:

Just went to the 50m range with it, just to sight in the scope. Windage was pretty dead on right from the start so I only had to adjust elevation. I didn't even try hard, shot it just with the bipod and a clenched fist to support the rear stock, no sandbags. And boy, the first 3 shots with this rifle and the all hits touching! The next groups didn't look any different. If I tried harder I could have easily shot hole-in-hole. And thats with El Cheapo CCI subsonics.

At 6'o clock my first three shot group, dialed in the elevation and tried a 5 shot group, with one flyer which was the winds fault, we have pretty massive 90mph crosswinds right now.

I'm very pleased.

One of the types of firearms I'm interested in are .22LR bolt-action. Maybe even a .22WMR for reason you mentioned before. I was sort of interested in the Ruger American Rifle.

The shorter 18-in barrel version sounded interesting to me. If there was an affordable breakdown style bolt-action, I'd look at that, too. I'm still interested in a concealable 9mm or .45ACP, also maybe a beater Glock .40, so who knows when I get around to any of those things. :D

For the amount of shooting I do, I have everything covered, so I'm very happy. My only immediate purchase would be the new Magpul 25-round mags(instead of the old 20) for the AR-10(.308). I like the trick windows on the sides. :P tacticool....

Hey, that's the nicer .22 I shoot.

Good shooting, Michael. Nice pics, too. 👍

I thought you already had a 22lr rifle?

If you are really hardcore and have tons of cash at your disposal you could buy a Sako quad, it has 4 interchangeable barrels for all the rimfire calibers, .22lr, 22mag, 17hmr and 17hm2. :dopey:

Or the Volquartsen take-down, ts reeeeeally cool. https://www.volquartsen.com/products/1046-fusion-take-down-rifle

The shorter 18-in barrel version sounded interesting to me.
Unless you want to shoot open sights a shorter barrel has no negative effects on a .22lr, tests have show 22lr reach maximum velocity around 16-18'' down the tube, anything more and it slows down. Though long line of sight is crucial when using open sights.

The shop I bought the CZ from has a Ruger American, nice rifle, absolutely nothing wrong with it (I haven't shot it though) but if you want to go target shooting I'd recommend a bull barrel. Thin barreled 22lr with a short barrel are so light they're actually hard to hold steady even when shooting them from sand bags. The heartbeat is much more noticeable and kind of annoying. I know I wouldn't want my CZ to have a lighter barrel unless I'd carry it hunting or something.

Hey, that's the nicer .22 I shoot.
Its still good ammo! Its so quiet that I heard it impacting the target. Sounds like a big air rifle but penetrates several inches of wood and still makes a crater in the ground behind it! And its super accurate.
But match ammo is a whole 'nother level. :P

I do. The very first firearm I purchased was the Remington 597(semi-auto .22LR rifle). I just find the idea of compact .22LR bolt-action rifle to be really neat.

Neither. Interesting rifles, but way above my pay grade!

Good advice! I'll make sure to keep this stuff in mind. 👍

Fair enough man. Fair enough.

Me too. You can always chop a long barrel down to 16'' or so.

Or you can convince the Russians to send you one of their gorgeous SV99s: :sly:

Searching about that gun led me to this rifle:

Action looks the same. Kinda cool.

It is the same, and its very cool. Interestingly Browning makes a rifle with a similar action, but it seems its easy to short-stroke and slow-bolt it.

While it comes across as not hugely impressive attempt at reinventing(or just improving) the standard bolt-action, that is interesting bit of engineering. Can't help but to wonder how many more firing, or loading systems out there that I don't know about. Great video!

Look what I bought today, some really tough slugs. Made from steel, lathe turned, 32 grams or 500-something grains of pure awesomeness. This steel slug is advertised to have extreme penetration capabilities which includes disabling car engines and shooting through all manners of cover without the slightest deformation.

I don't know what to do with them but they're extremely cool. :dopey: :dopey:
