I went to the range Friday afternoon. I shot my Walther, H&K, Ruger, and Tavor. I did okay with the Walther, great with the H&K, pretty good with the Ruger, and did not do great with the Tavor. I really need to go more often. I need the practice.

I recently switched the back straps on the Walther and H&K (and also side straps) from the small size to the medium size. The medium size seems to fit my hand a bit better. The sights on the Walther and my eyes do not work very well together. My eyes pick up the sights on the H&K much better. Between the strap changes and sights, I was dialed in with the H&K.

I have some work to do on the red dot on the Ruger. It is hitting about a foot low compared to my point of aim. I would have tried to dial it in, but I could not quickly find any information on how much change each click would make and I was ready to shoot the Tavor instead.

I sucked with the Tavor, well at least compared to how I have done in the past. I really just need to get out to the range more.

I would love to shoot a Tavor, I just can't convince myself to buy one. I would have an easier time if it was chambered in .308, not a big fan of 5.56 x 45. They need to produce one in 7.62 X 39, with a low power scope or a red dot it would be a nasty little close range rifle. Got rid of my 30-30 after I got a the SKS, I felt it was a better brush rifle than my old beat up Marlin. I doubt even in 7.62 X 51 that it would be uncomfortable to shoot.
Michael we do not have wereelephants or werebears (rabid or otherwise) here in Misery, USA, we have Methheads & Crackheads. Both need large doses of lead to insure that they are down for good. There are also the rare & elusive PCP monster, they sometimes get up & keep coming. That's what the 12 gauge is for, that double barrel looks to be made for them. Please keep your were critters over there. :)

Just get an MSBS.

You come up with some interesting suggestions I've never heard of before, @Omnis . One of the image search results look like ACR or SCAR or something:

I am interested in buying 1-? scope for my Tavor. I am leaning more and more towards buying one, but not really sure how much I realistically want to spend.

Don't think the MSBS has actually made it to market, could be vaporware. Brett go snag a cheapy scope. You can always get a better one, you may decide you don't like glass on your close encounter weapon. I'm thinking a rifle that size I might just mount a green laser & move on with iron sights. I have 3-9X scopes on both of my AR platform rifles, with a bullpup I will go with a red dot or a laser. Maybe both...

IMG_20160319_220726.jpg Picked this up used. Savage 320, 12 gauge with a 20" barrel. Ran some rounds through it, I think I like it. Of course I like most of the items in the safe. This one left a huge bruise on my shoulder after it's latest range visit.

I already have an Aimpoint on it. All of my shooting has been at static targets and something with some magnification would be nice. I have looked pretty seriously into Vortex's Strike Eagle.

(I mostly just need to get to the range more, so I stop sucking. I also need to make sure I replace my contacts before they are out of life.)

I'm convinced they are not real. I practice everyday & still nothing.

Are you yelling properly when trying to do it? Remember, it takes like seven episodes to do even the smallest Kamehameha.

I can't see the point in lasers on guns that you shoulder to fire.
The laser is for before you get it to your shoulder.:) May need to get a shot off in a hurry.

My 5.56 has a cheap Wally-World 3X-9X scope on it. The .308 has a Nikon which is not a really a costly scope, It makes it a nice meat rifle, the rifles aren't mil-spec weapons. Don't really expect to use them to fight off raging hordes. Just want to shoot at paper targets & maybe get something to eat. I would probably grab the SKS for a fight, I'm comfortable with it. Plain Jane old out of the box pinned barrel junk gun. Of course I have ran several hundreds of old corrosive ammo through it when we could get the old surplus ammo. The old steel core stuff would go through 12" hedge (osage orange) posts. Comfort with the weapon when needed is more important than anything else to me. Of course I would probably be killed quickly in a fight.

I can arm a lot of the people around me. I could survive, I'm old I, can't run fast. I can toss lead down range with the old bolt action for a long ways. Don't need a clean one shot kill like hunting, just want them to to stop them from chasing you. Seems to be a wasted conversation as if the zombies don't show up, we never get to throw lead down range. If TSHTF who knows what we can expect, I hope I'm dead before that happens.

Magnum Trifecta
Don't shoot as much as I used to, but when I want to have a blast l pull these out.
Mostly shoot paper targets, cans and bic lighters, but pumpkins filled with water are my favorite when available.
.338 Lapua / Savage Arms 110BA w/ Leupold Mark 4 8.5-25x
.50 S&W Mag / Smith & Wesson 500 w/ Leupold 2x
12 Guage 3.5" / Mossberg 835 Ulti-Mag...Sorry about the potato cam

Sold the LCR and bought this CZ P-07. I put about 50 rounds through it and a Glock 19 and I really like it. I didn't like the trigger on the Glock. I was mainly just shooting the Glock because my mom rented it at a range, and she liked my LCR and I wanted to try a semi-auto so we switched half way through. My mom has been looking to get a gun and she's comfortable with the LCR so she bought it off of me and I liked the CZ so I got that.

It comes with 2 magazines, a small cleaning kit, backstraps, a lock, parts to switch the decocker to a safety, and extensions for the magazines. I wish the base of the magazine was just a tad bit longer, but the extensions slide off when you put the magazine in the gun which is incredibly unsafe. I don't know if I put them on wrong or if that's a design fault but I'm keeping the originals on for now.

Fan of Glock, especially G19, but I'm not a fan of their trigger feel either. I saw an ad for this CZ other day & couldn't believe how cheap it was(isn't it like $400, or below?). It looks really good & from a reputable brand. Not sure what's going on there with the extension, but I hope it's mechanically sound & reliable.

@MoparGTS - Great guns you got there, but I just saw that you are from Cali. I'm so sorry. If it makes you feel any better, Anti-Gun people in Oregon are now pushing more gun laws on law-abiding people, too. God, I hate clueless legislators & their supporters. :(

I got it for $529, but you can get it a little cheaper elsewhere. Still a good price for a good gun. The CZ-75 is steel and definitely feels higher quality but I'm sure the P-07 will hold up just fine for my needs. Gun shops are pretty limited around here, and I'd rather support the family owned gun shop than the giant sporting goods store, even if it means spending $50-$60 more.

I can certainly respect that. Come to think of it, it may have been an advertised online sale price.

Agreed...The restrictions here are a joke since criminals don't give two shakes about State, not to mention Federal Laws. But there's still a lot of pre-ban stuff tucked away in case TSHTF.

Didn't this used to be just SHTF or WTSHTF? Lately, I'm started seeing TSHTF, and I had to look it up!
But you want it. You are a strong, independent man.

Horrible David. Horrible.👍

If I do a AR, I'd buy stock & keep it that way, mostly. It won't be Daniel Defense either. Something lower end, but from a reputable make, like Ruger, Bushmaster, etc. Isn't Ruger entry line AR supposed to be dirt cheap? Never mind, I'm not interested. :P
