Not a good day for me, guys.
This morning, I get a call from my FFL, I got the approval, come pick up the gun. I head over during lunch break from work, sign the paper, pick up the gun.
As I load it in my car, I figure I should open it, make sure everything's in there, it looks good. I decide to take out the packet with the hardware, operator manual thing, so I can check it out on the drive back to work(at stop light, etc., not while driving). I mentioned before that front vertical grip was missing. It turns out Bushmaster put the wrong 🤬 packet in the case.
As soon as I saw the scope mounts in it, I knew which packet this thing was for:
Bushmaster 308 ORC
At first, I thought it was wrong frigging rifle altogether. Rifle is correct. What's puzzling is the model number printed on the packet is correct. "90828", which is correct to my MOE rifle. But in the description on the very label, it says "Optic Ready Carbine(ORC) MOE".
Anyway, I couldn't get in touch with the gun shop I got it from, or Bushmaster, because they all operate on Eastern time, and by the time I got home, they are both closed. I think the vertical grip goes for around $30, and rear flip sight goes for $60. I'm out close to $100, so I was not a happy camper today. Now this deal drags on until tomorrow, and I expect either the gun shop, or Bushmaster to make this right.
Was this hassle worth saving $100(versus the local quotes)? I most definitely would have chosen to pay $100 more to get the correct order without this hassle.
Edit: Actually, if I get on eBay, I can get the front vertical grip under $20, and the flip-up rear sights under $50, shipping included. It's looking bit better now, but if I actually get what I paid for, that would be better.
Edit2: Cool vids, Michael. 👍 I especially like the old school snipers. Looks like a lot of fun!
Edit3!: Are any of you guys familiar with the "magnifiers"? I've begun researching on the optics option for the AR, and while I was pretty sure I was going with a low power scope(ideally 1~3X or something like that), I just saw EOTech red dot for something like $360. I've always liked red dot sight, but I thought they cost more than that. Best part is that they use "AA" batteries. If you've visited the Survival Discussion thread, you know I don't touch CR123 batteries.
Anywho, red dot + magnifier? Good option, or stick with a scope?
