As I noted earlier, one I need is a PMAG .308(20 round), and it was going for $90 in one auction I saw. It was still going.

I also checked all gun sites, and they are all out, but some said backorder OK, and were mentioning month to two months? I'm hoping Magpul work through holidays & weekends to meet our needs. :P

As for the Sig 250, isn't that the super cheap Sig? Why are they so cheap? It's a Sig, so I don't think it's going to blow up or anything, but it's so cheap. :dopey: Nice 9 though. Sweet looking pistol! 👍

If I hadn't just dropped a bunch of money on the gun I would have bought up the other 3 PMAGs they had up there. They'll be worth their weight in gold soon .
God, I suppose that's true. I don't think anybody expects gun lobby to defend the high-cap magazines or semi automatic military style assault weapon ak47 things. I am so kicking myself for not buying more PMAGS. :ouch:

Just because I had to watch those two guys saying to buy lower receivers and high-cap mags... Could've made so much money lol.

Here's the video:

Of course, 10 days after it was published, SHTF... :banghead:

Yup, always loved the look of Sig's P-pistols. I'd say the 228 is one of, if not my absolute favourite looking semi-auto pistol of ever. It just looks so well-proportioned and purposeful.

Reading this thread makes me sad that i'll never own much more than a shotgun unless I move somewhere with less-restrictive gun laws. One day...

Or join the local range and pull more tricks than a dog at crufts?

I wish guys like you lived in the States. I moved here from Japan as a kid, country that is even more different compared to the U.S., but I love it here. :D

P.S. Yeah, if I could have any Glock right now, it probably would be the 19. Very similar style. 👍

Oh, god. When they started talking about Ruger 10/22, that reminded me about my Remington 597 high-cap magazines. I'm on it like bonnet! 🤬

Also, did they say $150 for the high-cap Glock mag? I might hold on to mine then!

Edit: Ordered two high-capacity magazines(black) for my Remington 597(ignore red arrows) from these guys, but they were out just about everywhere I went. I just hope the site I ordered from really do have it, and not just giving me a "In Stock" reading. :nervous:

PMAG, no luck. I also checked DPMS .308 magazines, but predictably, they are all gone, too.

I keep telling myself that after i've got my shotgun and been attending shoots for a few seasons that i'll get a rifle and start deer hunting too, so i'd be moving in the right direction at least.

It's a little frustrating as all I want is a regular 9mm pistol to shoot with at a range for fun, instead of always having to shoot a 12 gauge or hunting calibre rifle.

... And now i'm just being silly. Accuracy International AW for a few annual trips to Bisley? Would totally be worth the money and effort!

Merry Christmas to me;

If you're looking for a pistol I think you'd be limited to flintlocks or revolvers. My friend does plenty of reloading for his revolver.

I think it would take a few years to get a hunting FAC, I think you'd have to show some level of ability and competency at a range before they grant you an FAC to stalk. And even then it's for specific land and deer-only terms.

But if you're already field shooting you probably know people more knowledgeable in this area.

I recognize Wilson Combat 1911 by their grips, but I also hate the grips. :D

Personally, I'd replace the grip with that standard rubberized checker stuff, but my god, the gun must be absolutely perfect. Don't they go for couple grand or something like that? Congrats! 👍

Beautiful gun. A nice 1911 will probably be my next purchase in a few months. Haven't decided on a manufacturer yet, so you'll have to let us know how that thing shoots.

Will do.

I'll give a review between my new CQB compact, HK USP CT, and my brother's Kimber full size next time he & I go to the range.

The one thing I don't like about this, or any, 1911 is the mag release. I'm so used to using my index/trigger finger to release the mag that I must have looked like a tard at the gun counter. Lots of people complain about the HK mag release system but I think it really makes sense to be forced to take your finger off the trigger to change magazines. Maybe I just need more range time & practice?

Have you held a Wilson and checked out their grips? If my hands were covered in butter I'd still be able to hold this gun firmly. While probably a little abrasive for extended range trips, I think they'll be fine if I have sweaty hands or I'm covered in motor oil. The iPhone pic really doesn't do it justice...same goes for the finish. When I picked up the gun after my 72hr wait the guy waiting in line behind me let out a "**** you, that's gorgeous" when the clerk pulled it out of its case/bag to check the serial number. That was almost worth the $3,000+ right there.

This be my 1st real gun so far. I had to put it together as it was from a kit my grandpa had.

Nice!

I haven't gone that far back yet.. my "oldest" gun is an Uberti 1851 (3rd model) Dragoon, cap & ball revolver. If I go further back than that, it'll probably be a flintlock.

Yup, long-barrelled revolvers and powder pistols only, with very few exceptions.

In the U.K, FAC are a lot easier to get hold of than most people think - if you have reason and are deemed suitable to own a firearm, it is unlikely that your application will be rejected. All I had to do to get my SGC (other than be deemed suitable) was prove that I had permission (I chose written and in person to speed up processing) to shoot game birds on private land.

I've been told that getting a hunting rifle is just as easy, with the addition that I will need to prove that I have permission to hunt on private land and be under supervision of an experienced stalker at all times while stalking, which i'd want anyway to ensure that I was killing in the most humane way possible until I gained enough experience and knowledge to hunt alone with confidence (and hopefully a smidgen of success).

Obviously hunting rifles have to be chambered in certain calibres, but there are a surprising number of range shooters who own .338 Lapua and even .50 cal bolt-action rifles - once you have your FAC there is very little limit on the calibre of range rifle that you can buy. The main issues with owning a .50 cal are initial purchase cost (i've heard around £5,000 for an entry-level gun) ammo cost (£1 per round is considered good value) and finding a range that allow .50 cals to be fired there.

The gun I got isn't really that "old". The kit was made in the mid 1980's and the barrel is rifled, but it was still fun to put together haha.

That thing looks awesome. 👍 Are you gonna shoot it?

I don't doubt that at all.👍

Regarding the grip design, I don't like the looks of it, but again, I've never doubted its' functionality. It's Wilson Combat! :D

Your take on the magazine release makes total sense to me. I've handled guns that my index finger came close to the trigger while looking for the mag release, though it might've been my fault.

God, $3,000 1911, I can only imagine how the thing might shoot!

I have a used Kimber I got while back. Cutom Target II. A lot of wear on it when I got it, but I love the way this thing shoots.

Just one problem: Every range trip, I have either failure to feed or extract. Not both, and not multiple times, but every range visit, just once. :odd: I never put the two together, but I think it might be the old 8 round mag that came with the gun originally(dunno if it's stock). Next time I go shoot, I've been planning to see if I can duplicate the problem and catch the magazine in the act. I've replaced the recoil spring, but that was just a cheap diagnostic, and it had a FTE again.

It's just so weird that it does that only once every 100+ rounds, and otherwise, the gun is 100% functional, and I just adore how it shoots.

I love the adjustable sights(can not live without it), but front sight was hard to see in the dark.

:D

It worked out beautifully. Super easy to line it up now!

Old school. I guess you'll never have to worry about President Obama taking that one away from ya. :D

All I need is a pirate costume. I have an inflatable boat that I can just paint brown, plus I had made two small cannons when I was in high school. :D

Hey guys, quick question, why did the US military ditch the M1911 for the Beretta as the standard hand gun?

Is it just because it packs more rounds?

I also prefer the lever style magazine release. My Walther PPQ has a lever style magazine release. Unlike nearly everything with a push button, I do not have to alter the grip on the pistol with my strong hand when performing a magazine change.

The Beretta fires the 9mm, which is the NATO standard pistol cartridge.

Or just build a pirate car, like that one Family Guy episode. :D

I just assumed that it was because of the NATO standard(9mm, 5.56, etc.). As for the reasoning behind the NATO settling on the 9mm, your guess would be as good as mine. Higher capacity, more compact ammunition(to carry, transport), etc.?
