I did the the track in red by hand also a challenge! :sly:

And some other shots, notice the elevation on the postcard! (And the Suedschleife ''South track" in the upright corner)

The Sudschleife is in the picture, in the distance at the upper right. The parallel straights connecting the Nord- to Sud- is where the current Grand Prix track lies. The '60s-'70s F1 track used the Nordschleife and the straights, up to that little loop at the end, but not the Sudschleife.

Flerbizky where did you find the Nasa images?

coz ive dont a search and cant get um anywhere! did you pay for it or was it free? if you could post a link to the site containing the images i would be very happy. :)

Um, reading is a skill right up there with writing and spelling. In his VERY FIRST POST he describes where they came from, and puts each picture's link RIGHT ABOVE THE PICTURE :dunce: :dunce: .

oh I think he's referring to Flerbizky's NASA picture he glued together for the Seattle image ;) Post #7

better than the other "Challenge" thread ;)

Woopsy. Like I said, and now apply to myself, reading is a skill. . . .etc. Sorry for the misdirected flame. To embarrass myself further, I remember well the original thread where this Seattle montage was posted, and the reference to Terraserver. . . .

Thanks Flerbizky. will give these a look.

wfooshee no harm done. i know my other post was in childish language, but i was in a rush to get it on and look at something else.

That course is supposed to be on the island of Capri, west of the area you've selected. The main straight is real scenery, but I don't think the course itself is real. If you watch a replay of a run on that course, the "back" side of the island is not very well modeled, and the size of the course isn't big enough to actually reach the other side of the island, in my opinion.

The main straight is indeed actual scenery. I just got back from a Mediterranean cruise with my wife a few weeks ago. We were on an Amalfi Coast drive in a bus and when we turned a corner, I saw it. Check out my picture...

On the left hand side of the pic you can also see some of the zig-zag road that goes behind the straight and up the hill. But, the backside of the track is all fictional as far as I can see.

This is further east than the town of Amalfi on the mainlad coast (not on Capri), but I have forgotten it's actual name. If I have any recollection, I will update the post.
