Wasn't Celica Supra XX early 80's MkII Supra? I'm pretty sure that the one in pic is MkIII JZA70..

He was referring to one in the video he linked, but yeah, MkII.

Also, Toyota chassis codes go (engine family)(chassis designation) so Reece's Supra would be an MA70 ;)

Yes that would be correct. I didn't even realize the two cars were different. :nervous: I knew the Celica Supra XX was older but I wasn't aware it was a MKII instead of the MKIII.

$700 was cheap indeed. Nice deal, bud. Now LS swap lol.
Hmmmm... more like 1J :dopey: thank you!
Can't go wrong with a Supra
So far, no. Thanks!
Auto? Rust? 7M? Check on all accounts. Nice color though, do a respray and a single turbo JZ swap and it's golden.. :)

I hear you... Though the rust isn't really too deep. I'll be posting an update regarding the transmission reasonably soon... I'll be keeping the 7M for now, but doing a head gasket swap of course. Though if I am correct, by 2014 I could afford a 1J.

Ambitious arent we, shoot for a 2JZ instead. ;)

How is the interior anyway? I remember trying one of them out, doesn't it have like a big dash with all kinds of gauges?

It does. Lots of gauges and buttons and boxes and containers. I love it.

Well, sold the Supra....
>inb4 i can't believe you

I helped out a good friend in desperate need of a winter car by selling it to him. Made money on the car too. I have already found a new car that I KNOW no one would ever be able to guess. It's in California though so it isn't here yet. But it will be pretty soon. The car is...

A 1990 Infiniti M30. I can say no more.

>inb4 you'll just sell it

Pfft. I am a wuss puss tuss.

I'm not buying the M30, it is 1500 miles away and shipping it back costs 10/12ths of the actual price of the car, so I would pretty much be paying double. I was like NOPE NOPE NOPE. Also having to wait 3 months to get it is lame.

SO. I started looking for more Toyotas. I found two that I am REALLY interested in, and they are WAY WAY WAY closer. The one that is farthest away is still only 230 miles, which in my opinion is driving distance.

More deets. Car one, which is about 40 miles away, is a 1980 Corolla DX Sedan. I love them so much. But of course, there is a downside. I have called and texted the guy many times and he has never responded once. Pretty lame. Though 4 Doors for more friends.

Car two, a 1986 Corolla AE86. Lots of goods about this one. This is the one that is 230 miles away. So, I like this one a LOT because well I am a fanboy loser, Flippy lights, it is a lot like the MR2 and I miss that car more than you could imagine (same clock and interior layout, SAME CLOCK), it is rust free, it is pretty clean, and the most important part, my parents HIGHLY highly approve of this car, much more than any other car I have been looking at. Bads, SR5. But going on with that, here is a good, I have a good friend who can supply me with anything I need to make that car a GTS Replica, and he will sell the parts to me for pretty cheap and help me install them. He is a Toyota freak, he has 9 MR2s and 3 AE86s and a bunch of various other old-ish Toyotas. He knows the AE86 bolt by bolt, screw by screw. He can do anything to one in under an hour. So there's another reason why I want the AE86.

Discuss.

What do you mean by DX Corolla? (DX actually means low spec) Do you mean KE70 or similar *E7* series Corolla? The *E7* and AE86 have similar chassis but look different. I would have both cars but given the choice of similar cost and condition I'd take the AE86 over the other Corolla. Preferably a Levin without flippy lights.

I looked at the AE86 today. My God.

It is so clean. Not a spot of rust on the car anywhere, not even any surface rust. It ran very well. The passenger side rear tire has a really concerning bulge though. That's not super bad though, I can take care of that. I drove it today, and I think it may need a steering rack but it was a fantastic car. Sadly, the guy turned away my offer. Though, after Christmas, I will have more money and will be able to afford it. It was a really great car, I loved it. The other Corolla, sold. There is a Celica Supra (Celica XX) for sale near me too that I may look at soon. Though the 86... dang.

So.... digging this up again.

Saturday. 4 days. I am finally picking up a car.

I finally found a guy near me with a reasonably priced car that I can afford. I am beyond excited.

The car?

300+50-100+20-30+10 SX.

That could be good. Straight mechanical bolt in I think. SR20DET would be better.

You definitely need to get some pics up when you get the car.

The 200SX hatch is one of my favorite cars. (This model is easier to get here) I hope it's a fun car for you.

I'm thinking I will keep the KA for a while, the guy that inspired me to get into drifting has been using a KA Turbo setup his whole drifting career and I have fallen in love. I'll get lots of pictures. And thanks! I can't wait to pick it up!

I'm sure the KA will be good enough. I still like my Gen 2 3S-GE. All 100whp. If you go around corners fast enough it makes the lack of power less noticeable.

Oh that's right, you have the MR2. I was thinking about doing a 3S swap in mine before I sold it. That would have been fun.

Just junkyard turbo the KA. They handle boost fairly well being a kind of low compression truck motor, and you can just get turbo from a junkyard car built in the 80's like Saab. Then you gets torque and if you blow the motor, KA24DE's are cheap.

That's what I have been thinking about doing. If I can't do that, I have a ton of friends with turbos they don't need any more that I can buy for cheap.

Engine management/injectors and fabrication will be of significant cost though.

Megasquirt? I think that is what a buddy of mine used (it was like 6 years ago though) and not sure what the setup was for injectors. I'd imagine it would still cheaper than getting an SR20DET by a decent margin. At least in the states, given how all of ours are imported from overseas.

Fair call, I guess you could pick up an older second hand ECU fairly cheaply, its just the fabrication of the exhaust manifold, downpipe etc and new intake / intercooler which you would need to do with an SR anyway. Still wouldn't be a cheap exercise though.

HEY GUYS, I bought a 240SX on Saturday!

The car is cleaner than I imagined. No rust at all. Runs perfectly. Interior was great. 5-Speed. Pignose. It was almost too good to be true. I was in love. While test driving it, I KNEW I was going to be buying that car. A rust free 5-Speed Pignose for dirt cheap? That's crazy.

Then I talked to him about his "title issue", and understood why it was so cheap.

He had NO proof he bought the car. Not a single piece of paper with his name on it. He had a copy of the title, but it was from a previous transaction, and he didn't even apply for one. I was crushed.

I was driving around a bit thinking about what I could do, my stepdad and I bouncing around ideas.

Then, my brother, who happened to come along with us had a fantastic idea.

"Why not call the people he says he bought it from?"

I texted the guy and asked if he still had their number, and I guess they got a new number. BUT, he found their number in YellowPages. They picked up and he told them the situation. Turns out, they had a clean title in their name.

So we drove to a town about an hour away from where the car was (and the car was 3 hours away from where I live) to pick up the title. Kind of a pain, but so worth it.

We met at the previous owner's office and signed it off. The car is in my name. I was the legal owner of a 240SX. Feels good.

Drive back to the car, do transaction, drive off in a dirt cheap, rust free 89 240SX. Drove it home, absolutely problem free. Wonderful. What a day. I was SOOO happy we found the title, that car is by far the cleanest car I have owned. Well, maybe aside from the 3000GT, though the 3000GT was more than twice as much.

Pictures to come Sunday.

Nice! I Cant stop driving my 240, its so fun. You'll enjoy it. Mine should be painted soon o_o.

What are you gonna do with it?
