I have yet to receive a code for NASCAR, Porsche, or even the Car Pass. I know as a fact I signed up and registered for the championship on ESL's website. Hopefully I get the codes soon...

Feeling in the mood for a bit of Forza 6 but the console took about 5 minutes to load my dashboard. Anyone else had this problem? It just stayed on the Xbox One green loading screen before eventually loading....

I don't think it took that long but it certainly took longer than it usually does for me. :odd:

So in preparation for Horizon 3 I decided to go back and play Forza 5 for the first time since 6 came out to grab achievements. Is it me or is the handling model better in 5? Was running with some higher powered class cars for the championships and it seemed easier to catch the cars on oversteer, at one point I went full opposite lock and was able to save it whereas in 6 it would've been an instant tank slapper. Led me to a few observations; 1) FM5 didn't have nearly as much traction lag, 2) Controller damping is better in 5 but still there, 3) Small countersteers close to 0 degrees input on the controller stick are picked up in 5 whereas there's a larger deadzone in FM6 where it doesn't get picked up (my deadzone settings are zero in FM6).

I was in an R class lobby earlier tonight. One of the venues was at Long Beach and I was using an Audi ISMA Quattro, one of my opponents was a Nissan GT-R GT500. On the last lap, on a sharp 90° turn (and narrow for that matter) I was side by side with the GT-R, so I decided to let him in first and then maybe power ahead with my 4WD. Well we both made the corner just fine, I was accelerating faster than he was and with no room to pass since it was narrow, I decided to give him a friendly little tap on the rear. The game must've registered that as a brutal hit, because I ended up sending him spinning into the wall. Feeling bad for what had happened, I did what a courteous chap would do.....

I gave him his spot back.

So we finished that lap with no issues, and after the race he messaged me saying thanks for being fair and reasonable. Felt nice being a good sport, even if it was a minor thing like that 👍

Being this is Bathurst week, Fox Sports are broadcasting the classic races. I'm watching the 1977 race. Every car in this '77 race(bar the BMW Bavaria[an '86 M5 is close enough :sly: ] and Dolomite, are in FM6.

The XB GT(the XC Moffat winning cars are in the real race as well)

Mk1 Escort(MkII 2000 ) & Escort RS

Torana A9X

Afla GTV6 & Alfa 2000 GTV

RX-3

BMW 2002(Tii)

Capri

Celica GT

Gemini(Opel Kadett)

and even the Mk1 Golf GTI!

A spectacular(that's right, I typed it) game...

Why did T10 drop the E60 M5? Don't think I've seen it in any current generation racer. I mean, they have the first generation M5 (E28), (E34), (E39) and (F12) Why leave that one out???

Maybe it's BMW's way of forcing people to pay attention to the unloved F10? I can picture it in a boardroom now: "Nein, ve vill not satisfy all zee people demanding the E60. Turbos are zee future!"

Sorry for repetition as I posted this in the Q&A section, but it may have been overlooked as not a lot of activity there at the moment. Does anyone know how to do quarter mile testing etc. whereby the timer doesn't immediately start counting down before you can even get the revs up? Also can you avoid it cutting off without you clearly being able to see what time you posted?

At the moment I'm just holding down the gas before the screen pops up, and trying to glimpse the timer as I go over the line, which isn't strictly accurate but at least gives the same benchmark for each car.

I assume it acts differently in multiplayer, but I'm in single player for now and in fairness wouldn't expect a friend to wait around whilst I test all of my cars :)

Oof. I think the release of FH3 and all the sales on FM6 has brought some questionable racers into the rooms. I jumped back into the game last night to set an FRC time, then explored the A Class Hopper. Tons of 🤬-talking, and utterly dirty drivers. Most were relatively low-level too, so I can only assume they're new to the game.

I wish there was an ABC's option in FH3.

The NASCAR expansion could've been done better, I feel. Rather than make us pay for 3 cars with a dozen separate paintjobs, they could've given us 1 of each and let us make the paints like the old Forza stock cars.
They could've also given us the 3 Craftsman series pickups, the 4 Xfinity cars, and one of those Whelen Modifieds. And that leaves what, 9 slots for new cars (if the Porsche expansion is something to base numbers on). Could've been used for NASCAR icons like the 80s Thunderbird, the 90s Monte Carlo, various 50s and 60s homologation specials.
And rather than just give us one of the bland 90s cookie cutter 1.5 mile ovals, they could've also given us the 1 mile Milwaukee Mile and the half mile Bristol/Martinsville. The short tracks make the best racing.

Could've made a mini-story where you progress from the lower tier Modified all the way to the top level cars.

Agreed. Back in the late 80s/early 90s when I was really into NASCAR, it was the short tracks like Bristol and North Wilkesboro that were the most exciting to me. NASCAR just kept getting less and less interesting to me as they introduced things like the bland Car of Tomorrow and the, what do they call it? The Race to the Championship? Every "improvement" has made the racing less fun, less interesting. This NASCAR expansion in FM6 is the first DLC I haven't bought in the Forza franchise since I started playing FM3. I just couldn't see anything in it that sounded like it would be good value for money.

I don't even like the sport, but I can tell you exactly what's wrong with it. They want it to be a drama reality programme. It needs to just be racing, no BS

That's what happens when the upper management cares more about beating other sports in the TV ratings than having a good racing product. They really can't wrap it around their heads that NASCAR is a summer sport and nobody will care once football season starts.

That said, I still enjoy figuring out how to wrestle those unruly behemoths around tracks they weren't meant to go on, and the bluegrass guitar remixes of the main menu and pre/post race music are much easier on the ears than the default stuff (there really needs to be a way to permanently enable them), so I got my money's worth out of the DLC. I don't really see it drawing in anyone who's not already interested in NASCAR though.

Which is why they should've had other NASCAR disciplines and 1 or 2 more classic circuits.

I would've totally been down with some trucks or Days of Thunder era cars, but I imagine time constraints and licensing BS prevented them from getting too crazy. I would love if FM7 did a proper retrospective that shows just how far NASCAR has come from racing family sedans on a Florida beach.

But y'know how it is. If wishes were fishes, the whole world would smell funny.

I wish we can have the Horizon exclusive cars in Motorsport. TDF, SV pffff still liking motorsport more 60fps vs 30..... dont like 30......

The only thing I don't like about the game - I play ABC's quite often in multiplayer. As soon as I get to the first turn, everybody rear-ends me into the wall.

Welcome to public lobby online racing, where your rear bumper is everyone else's brake pedal.
