I know the GP part of the track, it's just the other 106 corners... I've mostly now learnt what crests to NOT take at full throttle

Incidentally, I just downloaded the PCC 07 pack last night but I haven't got the chance to play it yet. Does it come with the Nurburgring track already or is that an extra download?

Umm...I guess I'll share something stupid that I did so hopefully no one else will do the same. A couple of weeks ago, I ordered GT Legends off Amazon so I could install the Historic GT mod in rFactor. I just got around to downloading it tonight, but before I did, I installed GT Legends on my PC...

BIG MISTAKE! :dunce:

Here's why--GT Legends has Starforce copy protection. Basically, it's an insidious piece of crap that can seriously mess up Vista systems--especially 64 bit Vista like I have. After installing GT Legends, I was instructed to reboot my system, which I did, except that it wouldn't boot up  After about an hour of trying to boot up unsuccessfully, and allowing Windows diagnostics to try and figure out the problem, I finally got it to boot up by going to the "Last known good configuration" option. Long story as short as possible, I eventually was able to get GT Legends to install via a patch, so it wouldn't keep my system from being able to start due to driver conflicts.

After doing that, I managed to download the Historic GT mod and get it installed, only to find out that I didn't need to install GT Legends in the first place--it only needed me to have the genuine GT Legends disk inserted in the drive while it was installing. Unbelieveable. I guess if I had done a little more research, I would have been able to find that out and avoid the +/- 3 hour hassle I went through tonight. And I'm not even confident I was able to completely remove that Starforce crap from my computer either :grumpy:

So basically, if you are a rFactor n00b like me, and you want to get the Historic GT mod, DON'T install GT Legends on your PC if you have 64 bit Vista.
From everything I've read, the Historic mod has better physics/models anyway. Just get the GT Legends disk and put it in the drive when you are installing the mod. It will save you from having that Starforce parasite on your PC 👍 Don't learn the hard way like me :dunce:

Thanks for the link, Sharky. Downloading it now!

By the way, I've installed the Real Feel FF mod yesterday. At first I tried it with the PCC 07 mod and it worked great, much better than the original FF. Then I tried it with some other default series from rFactor and the FF wasn't as strong. It was almost non existent in the track, only in the grass/grain or hitting walls.

Yeah, I'll try that. I have to say though, I'm enjoying GTR 2 more than rFactor so far. I don't know, it feels more real.

About the Nurburgring pack, I've played with it last night and it's pretty fun. But the elevation changes are much more steep than the GT4 version, which is funny because there were GT4 ads on it so I thought they copied the track from there. Anyway, I reckon this one is the more realistic version?

rFactor has some excellent mods that feel a lot different to other mods. I mainly use the RaceX mod as I'm in a league, the RWD BMW's are difficult to control, but there is some fun racing. It's a shame that the only version of Thruxton in rFactor is so bumpy.

DP.

Is anyone else running rFactor (download) on Windows 7? Mine just crashes to desktop as soon as I try to Load Circuit. Any ideas?

Bumpage.

Right, so my BTCC series on rFactor using the RaceX mod is coming to a close, a small league, about 6 or 7 regular racers, but generally good fun. We've just had a round at Croft, a simply brilliant circuit for racing. I had my car set-up nicely and won my first rFactor race (12th attempt or so). Taken me a while to get used to it, improved my FFB in the Wingman profiler, which helped no end. In my winning race, I was on pole (random grid ftw!), got toasted by the RWD BMW's off the line, and held third for the rest of the race. Somehow, had a very quick guy behind me (who blitzed the first two races in his BMW), but I kept it together and put in 10 consistent laps (all within .3 of each other). The independents leader, had won the previous 20 rounds, or something stupid like that.

We've got 3 more rounds left, then we go on to the Porsche Super Cup mod. Had a play with it earlier in the week, bit different to my Leon FSI ;)

A series that I am running with schoolmates is going along nicely for me-2 wins, 2 poles, 1 fastest lap, and 5 podiums. I'm leading the championship with a 12 point advantage, with 4 races to go.

We're running CTDP06, by the way.

Where do you race Waggles?

School comp, on a friend's dads server.

Private.

Oh ok I see. I race Adrenalin Factor, public big site for touring car racing on rFactor. AusFactor runs a CTDP league too, they're a big site.

Something I have been meaning to ask since I first got this game nearly a year ago: Is there a race line? If so, how do you turn it on? It would really come in handy on some of the new tracks I downloaded and am not used to.

I don't think there is one built into rFactor itself, but there may be an addon from RFC or something. I'll check now but I don't think there is.

Here is yet another rFactor video I uploaded, just a good lap on V8Factor I had.

There isn't one that I've found, although most of the tracks have a really rubbered in line that is severely darker than the rest of the track. This gives you a rough guide

Won the school championship!!

250 buckaroonies for me, then.

Came third at Monaco after biffing my nose off twice in the two corners before the tunnel (My setup had some incredible turn in), with somebody winning on their debut.

The Spanish GP at Jerez was a walkover, came in with the win, and therefore the championship, by lapping the field-after starting last due to poor qualy effort from me. (Last being 12th)

You guys racing over at Simraceway? What are your names so I can add you all. I'm currently trying to get the top time Hotlap at Snetterton with the ol' Peugeot 107. I Believe 1'33'xxx is the time to beat. I always have problems at Russels Bend.

And yea, I found out there was no raceline which is fine anyway, this forces me to learn the tracks better, and if I am struggling I can always watch for the skid-marks or watch a replays of faster drivers.

Nice job Waggles. You'll have to come to a another aussie league racing site.

I also won my AE86 Cup championship about a month ago at Adrenalin Factor. Just a friday night series that has been running. I did a lot of the videos for the series so I made a Season Review Video as well. 👍

Me in the white, orange, silver #86 car.

I would be happy to join you Madison-I tend to be more successful in open-wheelers-if you wouldn't mind I would be happy to administer such an event!

All I need to do now is get an rFactor public installation setup done.
