I would be happy to join you Madison-I tend to be more successful in open-wheelers-if you wouldn't mind I would be happy to administer such an event!

All I need to do now is get an rFactor public installation setup done.

I race a lot on rfactor. I race at Adrenalin Factor in V8 Supercars (FVR, TCL and endurance Series). I know that AusFactor races F1CTDP 2006, in 2 car teams. I would be happy to run something, But I don't know how many numbers we would get mate.

I really need to work out how to do videos on rFactor. Just had my first win in our BTCC league using the RaceX mod. 3rd race starting from pole at Donny National. Lost it on lap 3 but re-gathered myself and then 1st and 2nd went straight on at the chicane on lap 10, giving me a clear run to the line. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't grinning. It's a great track (GTL2 conversion iirc).

Do you have to pay monthly with rFactor?

No.

Buy it, download some mods at rFactorcentral (now Simraceway) then sign up for Simraceway, goto "Race Now" and it will show the events you can race. All for free. Pro membership at the site costs money, but to actually race rFactor, no you don't have to pay a cent.

I've always wondered.

Thanks for the info.

I guess there's a ton of downloading needed after i get my copy.

P.S. Which is best - rFactor, GTR2, GTR Evolution, GP3, GP4, or Live for Speed?

Edit: Which is most popular?

Well i've played rFactor, GTR EVO, GP3/4 and LFS. I'd have to say server and league racing wise rFactor is the best and also the hardest. rFactor has the most mods and tracks too. GTR EVO and Race 07 are good, but a lot easier. The GP games are some of my all times faves but the no online does set it back a little. LFS, no real cars and still a little too arcadey I think...

In my opinion, rFactor is the best. 👍

rFactor is the most popular these days I guess, but I like GTR-2 physics and FF better. rFactor has better graphics too.

I've played GTR2, rFactor, iRacing and LFS and my two favorites have been rFactor and LFS. rFactor has so many mods and runs really smoothly plus it still has a giant online following (although iRacing does too but you have to pay for that), making it my favorite of all. LFS is great except for the fact that it doesn't have licenses to carry any real cars (with the exception of the BMW) or real tracks. But I do like the physics a lot. You can try GTR2, rFactor and LFS demo's and see which you like for yourself.

I am thinking of buying this when I get my new laptop, however I can't find how much it costs. Anyone know how much it is?

Also have some other questions.
1) Are the mods easy to add?

2) Do they add to single player mode as well as multiplayer? (I do more offline gaming than online)

3) Any good mods?(ALMS, IRL, SuperGT, F1, DTM etc...)

Ok, it's $60USD I believe.

1 - Mods are very easy to add, you simply go to C: drive and find the rFactor folder. In there it will have Gamedata, rfm, UIdata etc. Mod will come as zips file simply unzip the appropriate stuff in the mod to the certain folders in gamedata (sounds, vehicles, etc) and rfm and UIdata to the right places. Quite easy to do, I could help you with that in finer detail via pm or Instant Messaging if you needed it. 👍

2 - Single player pretty much consists of championship, testing and race event. So no real career mode, rFactor is mostly a good online game. 👍

3 - The Enduracers Endurance series mod is fantastic (LMP1, P2, GT1 and GT2) cars and also the ILMS mod. There is FSONE2008 which I think is brilliant, best mod of the year I think Simraceway voted it (or is voting it). There is a NASCAR Mod called VHR, that is probably one of the best mods I have played along with the other mods I have mentioned. There is pretty much endless amounts of mods really.

A few pics of the NASCAR VHR mod online in a race I was in....

Im pretty sure its $30-40. You can buy a new disc on ebay for $30USD.

Everything else Mad said is true. You pick the spot where to download rfactor (I made a "racing" folder on my c/drive). When you download a mod, you just match the file folders and overwrite, nice and easy. The idea of rfactor was to become a community game, hence why rfactor itself doesnt come with tons of cars. You add mods, thats the experiance. Everything you possibly need is on this website:

http://www.rfactorcentral.com/

Mods for nearly every kind of racing. As far as ALMS mods go, Enduracers is the most accurate, but somewhat hard to drive (being realistic), so people tend to race with the ILMS mod (the public version)

A new F1 mod came out

Ok. I'm looking for a track mod.

I have seen it on yourtube with (iirc) a Porsche with no steering wheel, screaming through it. I think its French and it is a Point to point track. The video is longer than 5 minutes (getting the fealing it was 7). It is all tarmac.

Please help. :D

EDIT: I may remember it having "Jeux" in the track name, but when I type it in to youtube, it comes up with nothing.

EDIT: Found it. :D

One last question. Can you take a car from one mod and run it on a track from another mod?

I.E. F1 at Sebring?

Thanks

I'd say yes. While I haven't got around to modding with cars, I have modded with tracks and cars and tracks come under a different folder. Unless you download a series, in which case I don't know, but usually you can find the cars and tracks you want separate. Yeah....I'd wait for a more seasoned user to answer. :P :dunce:

-------------

I haz problem.

I am running rFactor on my laptop. It has 6GB of RAM (1.6GB shared video) and 2.2GHz of processing power from an Intel Core Duo. Recently I installed the Nurburgring 2007 mod and at first it ran smoothly, but running it today has produced some framerate issues. It is only in the modded tracks (I tried Lienz and it was fine - and there is no framrate issues in the menus) so how can I sure it? It was fine yesterday, but not today.

Ummm, do you have other stuff running in the background? Are you running it at night? By framerate issues how bad do you mean? FPS of 10 and lower?

Do you think rfactor will still have a community once rfactor 2 comes out?

I would hate to spend money(granted not much) only to run out of mods and people to race with a few months later.

Edit: after messing with the demo some more I will probably buy it soon, this along with Toca3 should keep me busy till GT5 comes out than some.

Hi Guys and seniors,
Really need ur help. after waiting for gt5 for so long and my fantastic g27 wheel have serve me well for whole of GTp..i finally took a plunge to try the rfactor, my first PC game in fact. I was very impressed with the physics and the engine sound.. gosh.. Immediately the 2nd nite i pay for the full version thinking i will see more cars and tracks instantly but no... I read so many forums and follow the instruction, extract mod rar n paste into rfactor folders.. but my cars and tracks just don't show up.. Is there a newbie manual to teach us? i am full of envy to see u all having so many different cars and nice tracks. My favourite is the Japanese cars like evo, wrx, gtr type.. Appreciate your guidance friends.

Never imagine it is so hard to figure out pc games.. from the customermise profile, i can only see 2 race series and the 2 cars...no matter where i click..

rFactor 2 is still a while away. So I think rFactor has about at least a year and a half left in it league racing wise.

I've just gone back to playing rtractor again after 3 months or so :P FSONE 2008 and AE86 mod are keeping me busy at the moment :dopey: also the BMW M1 mod is pretty tasty :D

Some videos

Off-topic, but great to see the car used in the 3 screen shot is a Commodore from the Touring Car Legends Mod! :D
