To do the last part, is quite a time consuming work, stewards would be needed to watch the race live to give the instant punishment (e.g.: drive through etc.) and/or require a lot of after race analysis. That's why I prefer to use this automated system. I think PD had in mind the same reason and I consider this a help, even if not perfect, to give us more time to race. :sly:
Does not apply, that's on offline section.
OLR don't take any statement on online track area. This is reason for my earlier post. Don't want to see any misinterpreted rule readers.
There is no words about what is track area, we need to apply that on rules, what is track area, and how many wheels need to be contacted on it, I'm not meaning at every single line crossing is penalised thing, but if your driving lines are constantly abusing area outside of track then it should be sanctioned somehow. But what is track area¿?

There is no need for watching replays because of this, but losing race because of someone rams accidentally on your side or rear and game gives you penalty for other guys error it's not nice thing when doing 30min+ race, and seeing those randomly happened lag jumps it's not rare thing at car might lag jump above your car and you got punished because of that.

Even though I can't join you boys for this race (warden's birthday) I would vote that there wouldn't be a need for setting the penalty to strong. Everyone seems to mind their manners and race with a huge amount of respect towards each other. 👍

OK, we'll underline some important things for those who don't know yet.

The track area is delimited always by the continuous white lines painted on both sides of the track.

You are required to keep always at least two wheels inside the track area.

The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track.

These are the rules that apply in most of the different classes of racing I've followed since Adam was a boy. They make the most sense to me when defining what are the track limits.
Two wheels must be within the white lines at all times & that leaves the other two for riding up/over the kerbs. If you had to keep all four wheels within the white lines in the real world, everyone would be issued penalties.

For Honda S2000 Spoon Sports, this is the setup that I tested, on par with the 370Z Base, Genesis 3.8 Track ( 1616kg ) and 1M ( 135i ), the S2000 excelled in handling and braking, but slightly outgunned in sheer top speed ( main straight ), just 1-3mph

I've voted no :) Having raced online a lot, I know there are times where the wrong person is penalised in certain cases. For example, being nudged wide in some corners by other driver and getting penalty for exceeding track limits during exit phase of corners (happens a lot on Fuji and Red Bull Ring from experience) and also if lagging car is involved, as I've seen happen what was mentioned about making contact with them.

Having said that. I do think we should have penalties in place. I agree with @OdeFinn that I'd rather not see the unrealistic ghost cars and would much rather have the trust that fellow racers would follow and respect the rules which govern most forms of racing. Not to mention the fair play ethos that @danbojte has linked to the OP :)
I say stick with the weak penalty system, purely for the cases of wrongful application because CPUs can not use a common sense function  If I get a penalty from my actions so be it, I deserve it. If I get one because I've been caused to run wide due to other driver or because a lagging car which was in a sand pit is suddenly right in front in braking zone, then I'd feel pretty aggrieved to get a penalty and the fun would be hard to find :)

I have no problem with trying it this weekend though if it was to be explored 👍

I have always tried to keep distance and control of my car and if I see someone in front of me spin out or hit a wall, I would always slow down and try to move to the other side of the track to avoid hitting them.

It's just common sense in OLR, but I never went to an open lobby, I've only raced with you guys and enjoyed it.

I don't want to go to an open lobby and deal with a bunch of dumb

driving stupid. (Notice the Benz Emblem on it's Forehead) :D

I don't want to hit anybody and I understand there are times where it can't be avoided, like if he's right in front of you.

I don't understand where this came from all of a sudden? Did something happen that I am not aware of?

It seemed to me these races were going along just fine, everybody was respecting the other drivers and there driving lines.

Why not implementing real world rules:
" Regulation Q14.4.2: Drivers must use the track at all times and may not leave the track without a justifiable reason.

Q14.4.2.a The white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track.

Q14.4.2.b A driver will be judged to have left the track if any wheel of the car either goes beyond the outer edge of any kerb or goes beyond the white line where there is no kerb.

PENALTY SYSTEM:

First offence: Reprieve
Second: Black-and-white warning flag
Third: Five-second penalty
Fourth: Drive-through penalty
Fifth: Black flag"

Penalties are just copy paste, can't be used on our races.
Old one wheel on track would work better on GT6, I'm ready for either way :)

From FIA F3 track definition:
"Drivers must use the track at all times. For the avoidance of doubt the white lines defining the track edges are considered to be part of the track but the kerbs are not. "

Could someone please explain the difference between STRONG and WEAK penalties in GT6?? I suppose I should know this stuff... :dunce:
This is just my view from experience and may differ from others and indeed from the actual differences.

The strong penalties apply very similar to the penalty system in the higher level career races and seasonal A-spec races. The weak setting allows a little more leeway in car to car contact. Usually only punishing strong front to rear contact and front to side. Side to side contact usually needs to be very firm to end up resulting with a penalty.

As for off track excursions, the weaker setting seems to allow a little bit of time delay for corner exit situations to get back on track. Go deep and fast and you will get penalty, go a fraction off at reasonable speed and get right back on track and it's not really punished too badly. Cut the inside and there's not much of a difference in my opinion.

I been told on strong, they may also get more severe time penalty if driver collects more penalties. But I have had very little experience with this one.

As I say these are just based on my experiences :) Other than racing with you guys I rarely use them. My friend who normally runs the room I race in most prefers to take them off and rely on a gentleman's agreement. If some one abuses it, one warning on then bye bye :)

I didn't touch on barrier collisions because I don't remember ever getting one online. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the explanation @Thorin Cain. A feather for your cap, my good sir. 👍

It's too bad that we can't customize the penalty system. I'm certain we have all had experiences where the AI has rammed into us from behind only for the penalty to be applied to our car!! That one is absolutely brilliant... Obviously, I'm not a fan of anyone cutting corners intentionally, but I would hope that we don't have to worry about that happening in our little club here. When I rammed a car in our race around the Nordschleife, I pulled to the edge of the track and allowed the person to regain the position that I took when his car went out of control. I'd like to think that everyone would have done the same thing in my situation. It happened to me twice that day. :embarrassed:  :banghead: Of course, I will drive with whatever settings @danbojte deems appropriate.

Very good, my friend, this is what must be done if it is the case. Just a tip: You don't need to stop completely you car for letting the other guy to pass - it's enough to slow down and let him pass when he's coming.
:eek: 200kg ballast , up from 41 kg  Did I test it right ? I must have driven it like sunday driving :P Did the original tune lap in 2:15s online ?
I did 2:13.0xx with the original one, yesterday online with @RMan72 in the room. :scared:

These are quiet new rules and I not dislike them at all. I'm thinking seriously about implementing them after a little research. 👍
