RKM Motorsport - Tuned Tuners - May '13

If you're willing to rate a tune based on your experiences using the wrong tyres, then that's fine. I'm guessing you're also driving it online too, right?

I drove Dragon's Black Swan... and lived! That thing is peppy and loosey goosey. I'd write up a proper "review" but I'm off to work and still shaking from driving that thing. DEAR LORD WOMAN WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!?

The ViP! guys and girls are by far the funniest people I ever play with...we should party up sometime and kick butt :D

Totally, if I'm online and you're playing, feel free to invite me. 👍

Since the final piece to the RKM tuned Super GT500 puzzle is the Lexus SC430, how about tuning one of them? Or would you rather the IS350 GT300? Or neither?

Edit: Is anyone online on GT5 at the moment? My friends list isn't showing anyone as being online, heck it doesn't show anyone at all! And I can't access my friends list which means I have to actually grind my ass off to buy the frickin' Miura that I had Roj put on share for me…:grumpy:

A 1967 ticket will get you the Miura. You just have to keep re-opening it till you get it. I think there are 10 to 15 cars to cycle through with the 1967 ticket.

I was just curious cause I happened upon these pages and saw a tune for my favorite car. The Honda NSX R. I see that you guys have quite the following but it's like the blind leading the blind here. Sorry but if you are willing to put your stuff online then you better be ready to take some critism. So here goes.
I was curious to see what the TOP tuners on GTP could do so i plugged in your tune for the NSX R on setting sheet C of my NSX R. Keep in mind mine has 460hp and has no GT Auto wing on the back of it. First impressions are that this thing turns in too fast and the rear breaks out unexpectedly. So I had to adjust my driving style. After a several laps on trial mountain I got it down to 1:27ish. Still I can feel it wanting to show me it rear end. Then i went back to my tune and all is good. I did a 1:22 on the first run. My set up is just WAY more stable (even without the GTA wannabe wing). I can jab the throttle with 460hp on tap without worrying about the rear end swinging out. Also keep in mind this is all done with RS tires and DFGT. I would give your NSX R tune a big thumbs down.
A: I'm pretty sure Roj's 'signature' NSX-R is more for fun than outright speed, because that's how I feel about it.
B: Racing soft tires? Really? Almost no road car needs those, and the NSX-R is definitely not one of them.

I don't even know which NSX he was refering to. Sometimes I don't think anyone reads the OP or half of the tune sheet. :indiff:

I wanted to scare people to death in that special way only an 800bhp and 800lbft Italian supercar with a 64-valve V16 can :D

I wanted so badly to rant about that...but I shall just assume him an ignorant troll or something :sly: sometimes people really should learn to read

@Dragonthing expect a belated Valentine to be arriving in the next hour or so.:D

Hope you find it more fun than the extended shift you pulled at McD's that day.

LOL. Bro, you can't. You just can't.

For starters, our NSXs (all of them) are tuned for LESS power than you're running, WORSE tires, and to have downforce.

How you wound up only doing 1:27s in one fully tuned like yours is, I have no idea... Ours do 1:27 (well, mine DID back before Spec II ruined it, Roj's still do) all day every day on sports tires with ~400hp.

We've got no problem with criticism, but you're whining about a tune not doing what it should do WHEN YOU WON'T GIVE IT A CHANCE TO!

C'mon. You're kidding right?

Just to clarify. Mine does 1:22 and 1:27 with your set up. Re-checking my set up it also has a weight disadvantage because I added more weight to balance out the car. It is at +94kg's and ballast all the way to the front. And I've been testing your set up all day vs mine so I think I gave it more of a chance than most would.

Perhaps it's just because you're using a DFGT and the tune was done with a DS3. DS3 tunes are much looser than wheel tunes by nature because the DS3 isn't as precise as a wheel. Although that still shouldn't result in such a terrible laptime, which as RJ said, could easily be done with 400bhp (390bhp too) and sports tyres. You've not mentioned which NSX tune you used, so there's not much more to say really.

You may have a point with the controller difference. I will re-test tomorrow with the suggested tires and ds3 since I work overnights. I used the tune that had the purplish NSX R pic. I think it was called NSX R Zero.

Edit: it was the NSX evolution R.

That is a tune made before Spec II, and therefore won't be as effective.

It's definitely the controller difference then. The Evolution R is rock solid with racing softs in my hands. I'd say it's actually a bit understeery at the limit. No sudden oversteer or anything.

I will re-test with ds3 tomorrow then. I really hope it is as you say. Although I am so used to my dfgt now it may take a little time for me to get into the groove. I will be happy to pm my tune to any of RKM's members for testing if you wish just let me know who. However that will have to wait since I'm at work tonight.

I shall look forward to it! Plus I might do a quick tune for a Fezza or a Lambo, I'm bored...

The Evolution R is a bit understeery on sports tyres too. It's more suited to flatter tracks than Trial Mountain. For that I would use the red NSX tune, which is more suited to bumps. But hey, it might just handle fine on a wheel. If not, I'll retune it since I'm not happy with it.

And I guess I can test your setup. It would give me some insight into how you drive too.

I shall look forward to it! Plus I might do a quick tune for a Fezza or a Lambo, I'm bored...

Do an F40 so everyone will stop harrassing me. :P

Uhm...nope? You should already know how secret my matte brown F40 remains :sly: I was thinking maybe my SP1R tune could be popular, since it actually makes a good racing car, very stable and a rare sight too

It's rare because it's ugly. :yuck: Why did they put eyeliner on an F430? :(

Mine is a slight improvment, and either way it makes a fun troll car :D plus it's MY tune so it's atleast worth a drive! :embarrassed:

You have to name it after an eyeliner manufacturer then. :P Will it kill Onboy again?

Sorry Dragonthing but looks like my internet has gone in the 🤬 craper again so won't be able to send the car until tomorrow. (At least I hope it will allow me to connect long enough to send it tomorrow:banghead:)

Anyways the tune for it is posted over at the Café though sadly the internet crashed just before I finished the post first time around, taking my original post and around 2 hours of my life with it. So until I find the energy (most likely tomorrow)to rewrite it, its without the fun descriptive text I wrote up.

In the meantime...
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
This Alfas been tuned,
Just for you.:lol::crazy::lol::cheers:

Sidewinder NSX...
I need more practice with the car but I see the awesomeness contained within. Had it not been a faux pas on my part on lap 1 Id have won the new Seasonal. BoB on the other hand, he wants to marry Roj after "cruising" to victory in every single 500PP B-Spec Seasonal. In 1st place after 1 lap every time!

BRAKING NEWS (pun intended!):
DEAR GOD DRAGON WHAT HAVE YOU WROUGHT WITH THAT BLACK SWAN?!?! Please, everyone go get one and spec it out as she has laid it out. It is like Mr Toads Wild Ride and then some. I had a girlfriend in HS and in to College who was like this thing. You may be behind the wheel but seriously, you are a GD passenger. Sideways at over 200MPH and suddenly SLAM back in to position then sideways the other way. Pulling hair, scratching back, talking VERY naughty and even some slapping going on in there. It IS an experience unto itself.

Sidewinder NSX... I am going to continue to use it til I win that Seasonal. Even try it on the others if I can. So if anyone wants their BoB to make them some easy credits, you can do no wrong using this piece of marvelous machinery and setup, just set it and forget it. Come back after 10 mins or so to 400k or so.

Now to OH DEAR GOD THAT SWAN IS COMING FOR ME AGAIN!!!!!

Well, the SP1Maybeline was actually rather nice to drive, though I did nearly overstep the mark quite a few times with it. Which was hardly a nice experience, to say the least. No, if it's your tune, it just means that my chance of survival is quite a bit lower.

You have to name it after an eyeliner manufacturer then. :P Will it kill Onboy again?

You already did. :P You sure hope it would.

It's funny because the Sidewinder is an online tune and I can't stand driving it offline. Glad it works for you and Bob though. 👍

And Tell Bob that I'm taken, sorry Bob. :P
You already did. :P You sure hope it would.

Yeah, so hers needs to continue the trend. :P
