RMs in GT6

isn't comic sans against the AUP and the laws of nature?

Personally I think RM should be considered as different cars.

I think he saw Azureman and thought with this face:

So, in a way, :P I sorta want to hear more of Azureman's thoughts about this, since he obviously has a short fuse to me, and people with Comic Sans. :sly:

And, the RMs are good, but, we should indeed have a choice between a few different "types" of RM choices.

My actual idea is to have a 2-Stage RM system. Here's how it'd work :

Stage 1 RM (Cannot RM to Stage 2 until you have modified the car to Stage 1.)
-Cosmetically similar to GT5 with little to no decals, number plate, wing, aero kit, etc.
-20-50hp boost
-Reduced weight + roll cage and handling upgrades similar to GT5.

Stage 2 RM
-Cost a bit more/less
-Be like in GT2 where (If I remember correctly) car has many sponsors. Also, wider body/tires, stripped away extras, more race-ier aero kit, etc.
-100-300hp boost
-More reduced weight + more/better handling upgrades

I like the idea, but to expand on it, I'd like to see the RMs made to race each other. This makes the RM cars lass random (GT5) and could make a nice A-Spec event. For example:

RM #1: The basic touring car. 350hp/1250kg and minimum aero changes (Challenger TC and Camaro 2010 RM)

RM #2: Something along the lines a GT3/GTE car in the 500hp range. (GT-R R35 TC and Corvette C6 RM)

RM #3: High end GT cars we don't really see anymore. The Zonda R, although not an RM car, is the best example.

It sounds like a lot of work, but PD have made several body kits for premium cars already. All they would have to do is add stickers, add the racing number, and change the interior.

I want to see perhaps the ability to RM the Nissan GT-R, Mercedes SLS AMG and the Ferrari 458. These would be excellent cars to RM and I'm sure that there are people who would agree with me. I'm probably wrong but what does everyone else think? :) :gtplanet:

There's one problem; the GT-R has a TC, which is an RM.

I had that idea. Although, I think we should be able to choose RM 2/3 etc. without getting the first RM package.
As well, Gran Turiso should have a RM Design contest. WHere players have the chance to design a car, and submit them. Then the best would be featured in the game (1-3 RMs per car, for atleast 100 pre-selected cars)

Yes but isn't that DLC?

Yes, but, it is a pre-modeled car. I think that it would be less time to model that car into GT6, meaning that it's already a leg-up on the competition. I'm just reinforcing the likelihood that there IS a Skyline R3X GT-R (for all generations) RM in GT6.

I like the idea and I have something to add.

I'd love to see the cars classed aswell. So instead of having 100 or so random RM capable cars you'd have groups of 10-20 cars that have similar performance to race against. I also think it would add alot of content for both seasonal events and online racing.

I also think it would be cool to be able to choose to RM a car yourself instead of just using the package. But maybe that's for another topic.

Yes I agree with you there. It would also be good if the cars didn't sound simular to each other.

I'm sure I've said it before but for me "RM cars" should be gone, they offer no personality or freedom when it comes to modifying a car. What they should do instead is of course firstly add a livery editor so we can give any car any personal livery we like, then some performance based aero parts to finish the job. Then WE can decide on it's performance, not PD in some pre-determined settings.

Great idea, I like it.

:)

I like the idea of more RMs but I also would like to add some cars should have other options as well. Like the Subaru Impreza should have a race modify or rally modify option.

I like the idea of multiple race modifications, but in a different sense. In GT2, some of the RM's were based off of real life race cars (Castrol Celica, Group B Lancia Delta). I think it would save alot of time if PD just did that. For Example:

Take a new Ford Fusion/Mondeo. The RM options could be NASCAR liveries & tunes instead of releasing seperate cars for each driver

RM should be allowed on all cars not already race cars.

Anything less would be uncivilized.

The 17(?) in GT5 is pretty much a joke. There should be way more at a minimum.

I like this idea. It would save a lot of space and be alot less confusing. And with things like the NASCAR you could choose any real livery or a blank white car to be edited in a livery editor when you RM it

Indeed. PD should just go down the Forza route for race mods

RMs (and the TCs since it was found out that they were actually RMs by Sorg) should be done away with in this day and age. Instead we should be able to create said RMs using what is available in the aftermarket parts section of GT6.

A greater variety of sideskirts, chin and rear spoiler, interior stripping options, roll cages, tow hooks, bonnet replacements, diffusers and a livery option (all found in other racing games) as well as the engine, drivetrain and intake/exhaust options from GT5 should allow me to take a normal Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C6 and create what was once the Z06 RM but is (in GT6) just a Z06, albeit heavily modified by the player.

RMs should not be their own cars seeing that they are entirely Polyphony creations based on in-game car models that were already in Gran Turismo 5 to begin with. RMs strike me as another lazy way of jacking up the car count.

Indeed. The existence of RMs is unnecessary. The player should be able to build that Silvia RM using what is available in the tuner shop. I don't need the game to build it for me, the parts should have been available in the in-game shop to begin with. I should be able to decide whether or not I want that front bumper clip or that GT decal on my tuned Silvia. The game should not be supplying it for me. The RM feature made since during the GT2 era due to lack of hardware/software capability. In modern days it shouldn't even exist.

So you're suggesting, I could make my 22B look like either a rally car, or a touring car?
Please don't make me excited for awesome things that won't happen.

Firstly, RM's themselves have never been included in the car count, otherwise GT2 would have had 900 cars or more.

Even though I might be with you in essence, I'm still not, which I'll get to. You mentioned drive trains in the snipped part, which you might have meant wide body kits as are found in many racing leagues, such as DTM and Super GT. This with a Livery Editor really would be a completely user defined Racing Mod, which I agree would be the best way to go. You could choose to have a wide body Mustang, Supra, BMW M5 etc, or the regular axle width, and both of these body types would serve to produce race cars suitable to one of the real world racing leagues.

However, I'd like for GT6 (or 7) Race Mod to include alternate liveries, like we got a taste of in GT2. I think a small number of cars had up to three livery choices. This way, the car count wouldn't be bumped a few cars because of so many liveried race cars. Hide them in Race Mod, so they can be "discovered."

But I also want to also see some Polyphony creations mixed in, so that we can have a full field of cars from various racing leagues - well, as many leagues as possible in GT6. I know that racing teams have to be licensed as well, so I'm fine with fantasy cars. The only thing is, they need a car artist who has a sense of livery creation, like some of the amazing artists which use other games to create wonderful designs, in particular the Forza artists who can make Photoshop quality liveries.

That is an outright lie.

meant wide body kits as are found in many racing leagues, such as DTM and Super GT.

None of those vehicles are body kits, the entire body of a 2013 era DTM car or Super GT tube framed chassis car is completely different. You can't "throw" a body kit on an E92 M3 and magically turn it into the 2013 BMW Motorsport Team Schnitzer M3 DTM and you can't throw a body kit at an XW30 Prius and magically turn it into the 2013 apr Panasonic Prius GT of Super GT. Changing axle length wouldn't magically turn any of the stock vehicles in GT5 into a DTM/Super GT/NASCAR/etc spec vehicle.

Unlike the examples you gave every single RM vehicle in GT5 uses the model of a another GT5 premium vehicle as a basis. The most different from stock would be the C6 RMs, and the only thing changed visually were the front/aft quarter panels, the hood, the ride height, diffuser and front/rear spoiler. In fact, if you look at GT5 Prologue and look at the Corvette Z06 Tuned (as it was called) you will notice that it is the exact same car as the Z06 RM found in GT5, albeit with decals plastered everywhere.

It was originally inferred by a great many on this site that these "Tuned" vehicles on GT5 Prologue were examples of what one could create using the parts available in the Tuning section.

And I mean exactly what I said. There is no need for you to "correct me".

Well, excuse me, Huffman. I stand corrected. Satisfied? ;)

It's been said plenty of times on the forum that RM cars are counted, even though this user has informed you, I wouldn't be surprised to see you saying no months down the around. You tend to repeat the same argument even after proven wrong.

You're RM idea or wants isn't too bad though.

Okay, as much grief as some of you give me over the smallest things, I'm calling proof or it's BS. And you have to show me that it was clear that I read it before, because I have shown a couple of you guys wrong, such as on the GT PSP debacle many of you insisted was no big deal for Polyphony, when I read interviews that stated it was. And I got a LOT of really unnecessary grief over that.

^ Err..... while this is true, it sure doesn't hurt. ;)

And to elaborate before I bail for the nite to do some GT5 before bed, I don't consider what Forza offers to be the be-all and end-all of Race Mod, but one level of it, sure. I still want there to be in GT6 and beyond, for there to be a Race Mod process of no small but hopefully not excessive expense, like in GT2 and 5. Still, I love the Forza approach of "go as far as you want, tinkering as you go." Just shy of the body and drivetrain widening of course.

And LMSVette, I'm not gonna pout at you until you scour the net for every faux paw I've ever made, but seriously, dude. If I'm nothing but a craven liar to you, just avoid my posts like the plague. I won't cry if we never type a word to each other again.

You got a lot of "unnecessary grief" because in addition to saying GTPSP was something that took a lot of resources away from GT5, you kept making the implication that Sony forced PD to work on it. And it was pointed out to you that, no, that probably wasn't really what happened. Multiple times. And you continued to treat it as definitely being the case long after that anyway.

So probably not the best example to choose in response to LMSCorvette's point.
