GODDAMNIT. My PS3 just YLOD'd with my GT5 disk inside! Grabbed my phone to call my buddy to borrow his and my phone won't turn on. Just my ****ing luck. I... I am at a complete loss for words. I had a legit shot at making top 8, too.

Looks like I'm done. This ****ing sucks. Someone shoot me.

I went and bought another one :/ You've got one more day, just drive to ur buddy's house, break in, and use his ps3! :D

Got a hold of my buddy and he's letting me borrow his PS3 and his copy of GT5. No waiting for updates and patches. THANK GOODNESS. This has been one hell of a stressful week. Quick question, can I put the hard drive from my 60 gig fat model in his slim model?

Now I just have to figure out what to do about a phone. :/

Glad to hear it man. I'm no expert when it comes to hardware, for sure, but I don't think you can....

I'll run mine tomorrow until it blows, I'll have enough time to get another one after 11:59 Sunday! I'm gonna give everything I have tomorrow.

If I don't make it my excuse will be 32 other racers were BETTER than me.

More like 8 racers were better.
It looks like there will be a lot of deserving guys, within this country, that won't make it because of a really dumb rule. If any of the top 20 national leaders don't make it to the national final that is a true shame.

UK has 1/5 the population of the US and it's top 20 went to the national finals, just for perspective.

Oh well, no biggie. I just remembered that I backed up my save data to a SD card a couple days ago and I've done nothing but GT Academy since then, so it looks like I won't even lose my game stuff.

What is that, three systems today alone? :scared:

Yeah, go figure. In all honesty, my PS3 has been running pretty much non-stop since Monday except for 5 or 6 hours at night. And it was an old 60 gig model. And I bought it used from Ebay 3 years ago. It had a long, healthy life. I'm going to try to resuscitate it with a heat gun some time in the future. Doubt I'll buy another, at least not in the near future.

Here's to hoping my dying PS3 was the cause of the seemingly random car/tire performance! Sometimes the car would grip, other times it wouldn't. Come to think of it, when it died, I was lapping Eifel and was seriously struggling to get below 2:20 and I normally don't have any problem posting low 2:18's even with a lot of mistakes. Hmmm, this is making me curious...

Your first in your region, why are you talking like you barely have a chance?

Mine's an old 60gig model. :nervous: Using it right now to watch a movie. Hoping it lasts me at least a few more weeks so I can get a Slim and get everything transferred over.

Not if you have astigmatism, then it takes a whole week :D

I do in my left eye but ever since wal*mart got in bed with 1800contacts they generally have some of the crazy expensive accuvue astigmatism lenses laying around.

Because anything can happen. I don't count the chickens until they hatch. Don't forget the Pats were thought to be going 19-0 until that amazing catch by Tyree.

Doing 3 lap heats and chasing Blindside's ghost have given me an extra second off my time at eiffel. I'm still nowhere near the superhumans who make up the top 8 in the Northeast, but happy to be part of the continuous battle that makes up the top 20 in the region.

ummmmm... my dog ate it??...no wait, that wont work here, ummm... I forgot the password to my PSN account.

Here's mine : I am simply not fast enough to compete with the field ahead of me. Good times, I enjoyed the challenge and good luck to those in the finals(especially those in the west) ! Bowing out - to my disappointment.

Well after hours of hotlapping to no avail, and knowing I am fast enough to get to Orlando, I stop the car on a straight and realize that my gas pedal on my DFGT is constantly giving 1/4 gas input. I am more than angry right now. Anyone have any idea how to fix this?

I am conceding defeat, I currently sit 11th in the West ~.5s from 8th. In order for me to get 8th, I'll need to do a 2:16.9 on Eifel which is asking quite a lot of myself 2 hours before deadline.

My excuse: The West is bloody fast. Congrats to the Top 8, you have more than pushed my abilities. I'll be back stronger if there will ever be a future GT-A USA.

If it is on Eifel, for some reason the car does that naturally at idle speeds, but when you are on a race line/pace I do not notice it.

OK, I did not want to touch this thread because I did not even want to plant the seed in my own mind that I would not make it. Well, I didn't make it so I have a whole lot of venting to do ;)

Monitor was too small.
My pedals move around.
Kids.
Wife.
Dog.
I am too old.
The time limit at midnight cut me off in the middle of my best lap, didn't even get a chance to finish it.
Work.
I am sore from working out.
I am sore from sitting in a darn chair and pressing pedals all day.
My eyes are sore from staring at the monitor.
I have been playing Gran Tursimo too much.
My power went out.
I don't have a load cell.
I have a mental block.
I hate Indy.
I am pissed that I spent this much time on it to miss out. Sorry to those who lost by sooo little.
Alright, I'm done for now, going to sleep and going to try to forget about this wasted weekend. Grrr. :(

Oh yeah also forgot:
Lost my glasses.

But darn it I simply didn't bring enough to the competition. I refuse to spend as much time on it if they do it next year but I'll try to be ready.

Seems to be something with this car, as it does it even in "single player" mode. I also thought I was having an issue, but it seemed to be this way for all. I tested it without my wheel plugged in and using the DS3 instead and had the same result - so don't feel to badly, your wheel should be ok..

Winner.

Simple wasnt fast enough. I dont think I could get any other excuses because I drove the best I could. If I wana be nit picky my throttle control was my down fall letting ghosts slipp away due to wheel spin. Oh well what can ya expect from a drifter :P

I can't make excuses but... I plain just can't drive Indy well. How the hell people find some sort of rythm there I have no idea. The track feels completely alien to me and to add to my frustration it's freakin' flat. I'm just glad I won't have to drive around that track anymore. It became such a manotanous grind for me it killed the fun I was having at Eifel. Big ups to all GTPers that made the cut and my condolences to those in the top 32 nationally that didn't make orlando, they will be missing some really fast drivers.
