Russian Invasion of Ukraine

WIll this be WWIII?
The assumption here being that this would be an escalation beyond the pale for Russia? The countries are at war. Russian can't all of a sudden say that Ukraine is crossing some red line by attacking military targets in Russia. Until a third party starts attacking Russia, there is no WWIII impetus.

Is that still the case? Seems as though TASS is reporting it as a Ukrainian strike.
Their site is pure ****, I could see a report that it was explosion of shell(no way, at the military base) and that LPR saying it was Ukrainian Tochka-U.

There are few comical posts about Ukrainian invasion In Kharkiv telegram channel.

given the russian way of handling munititon
As an exRF solider with access to depots of munition can confirm its very much ****ed 😅

100km2 of tank munition open air and in cellars build by nazis in 1930s. One thing I could recommend to Poland - do not **** with Kaliningrad, it could destroy itself and half of you just by detonating this depot 😵

Poo-tin wants Rubles for his gas, Europe says nay nay. Will Poop-tin shut down delivery, or are Euro's still good enough?

In the mean time, our government has asked us all to cut down on gas usage, just as we go from 3,5 weeks of beautiful weather to sub 10c weather with snow on Thursday and Friday.

Suffering and self-abnegation is positive virtue in a noble cause. You have become a warrior monk.

Thank you, young grasshopper. I already had set the thermostat down to 19c before LePouptin' decided to go full anschluss in Ukraine.
If it's any comfort, both sides have taken scrupulous care to avoid the slightest damage to the many natural gas pipelines traversing Ukraine.

If people really "stand with Ukriane" than why didn't they physically go to Ukriane & kill some Russian soldiers?
It turns out there are some causes that I stand with but which I am not willing to die for. What a concept.

Edit:

I can stand with women seeking abortions in texas without performing illegal abortions in texas.
I can stand with starving kids in Africa without selling my house to feed African kids.

What's more, I can even stand with the people of Ukraine, starving kids, AND women seeking abortions, without having dedicated 3 lives to those causes. It's amazing how that works.

I understand now, thank you.

Cut off rich Russians and banks. But also keep buying Russian oil and gas that has shot up in price. We're punishing and paying the Russians at the same time.
Interesting news on the oil and gas front. Apparently Germany and Austria are formulating emergency plans (rationing) to entirely do without Russian gas, oil and coal, possibly in the immediate future. Without Russian gas, German hospitals and homes would still be heated, but the industrial sector would be without. The latest wrinkle is that Russia has demanded payment in rubles, of all things, despite dollars and Euros being stipulated in the contracts. So there is already tension building between supplier and customer.

Putin made such demand because in the current situation dollars and euros are as useful to Russia as toilet paper: there's almost nothing Russia can buy for them now. Peskov (Putin's press secretary) said that RF will not be doing charity on fuel supplies: "no money - no gas". The deadline for ruble payments is set for March, 31st, and we can expect a great April Fools' Day prank of shutdown of gas supplies to Europe, and see the European industry going brrr.

Everyone, grab the popcorn (while you still can) and enjoy witnessing the historical moment. This April is going to be unforgettable...

How useful are Rubles to Europeans? I suppose they could burn them for heat.

They can use them to pay for the Russian gas. And possibly other supplies: some words from Kremlin are already heard about switching other resources to ruble payments.

Russia is trying to bolster its economy and prevent runaway inflation. Europe isn't going to let them. Or rather, Europe shouldn't let them.

Good to know it won't be revealed until tomorrow.

@Rage Racer saw something a few weeks ago on the gas lines already being shut off

Link

“Since December, however, it has been operating in reverse and driving European gas prices higher”
