The Referendum was just an excuse to make it so Ukraine is attacking "Russian land", which will allow Vladdy to justify escalating a war and sending the next bunch of fighters and mobilised units in to remove the renegade Ukrainians attacking Mother Russia.

But seeing the footage of all the conscripts, I wonder how they will try to do it. Traumatise the Ukrainians by letting them kill as many Russians as possible?

Someone heard the joke "what are you gonna do, bleed on me?", took it seriously and implemented it as a military strategy.

It will allow them to mobilise troops spread out over the eastern parts of Russia and move towards Ikraine.

Of course, if anyone wants some Land in the East (China etc), now is the time to invade. I'm sure the Chinese Army could take Vladivostok and reach the Sea of Okhotsk in about a week, with such little resistance because the army is currently stuck in the West.
Japan can take back the Kuril Islands too if they wanted.

Would be easy if Nukes weren't a threat.

It would seen Kaliningrad is no longer the most well-defended territory in Europe.

When I saw all those arrows all I could think of was "Who do you think you are kidding, Mr Putler, If you think that Ukraine's done?"
“Zaspokoytesya, mistere Mennerinh”

Its all rumours right now that Belarus might be going into Ukraine with its own troops. If they do most likely be under Russian orders.

Either way they are already involved not directly but indirectly as they allowed Russia to use Belarus as a launching pad to invade the capital of Ukraine.

Putin will sign a decree incorporating Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson into the Russian Federation later today (because that's how any of this works )

The Kremlin has also stated that any attack on these regions will be considered an attack on Russia...

Meanwhile, Russia is attacking fleeing civilians with missiles, killing dozens this morning alone.

Do you think Putin will use nuclear weapons ?
Tactical nukes can be used for offensive purposes.

Whether Putin is bluffing or not it should be taken seriously really.

Will just have to see because this talk of nukes being used is creating lots of anxiety. It takes a lot of political will to use nukes.

This rumours spreading since 24.02. Highly unlikely. As Arestovich saying - its like give Ukraine additional troops already equipped with weaponry and destabilise Lukashenko regime even more.

It would piss off every nuclear state in the world, aside from N.Korea. It would highly likely lead to drastically increase of land lease weaponry or even air support from NATO. I don't think he will, but he is cornered rat and God knows what he can do.

Strategic nuclear isn't an option.

Border already was crossed by Ukrainian specops and aviation, Russian territories aren't something sacred.

Putin using nuclear weapons of any sort would certainly go a long way towards eliminating the war weariness that the various Western countries have started to experience in support of Ukraine.

This guy didn't even have time to fall out of the window before his body hit the ground...

Now now, it is possible he fell from a different balcony/window and didn't clear the lower level.

Putin has made the pathetic land grab official now.

So much for protecting Luhansk and Donetsk's independence then.

Independence = Independent from Nazis, not independent from Mother Russia.

Some parts from Putin's speech:

"The West has no moral right to stutter about democracy.
We are proud that it was our country that led the anti-colonial movement."

"The US is still actually occupying Germany, Japan, South Korea and at the same time calling them allies."

"The United States, together with the British, turned German cities into ruins, and this was done defiantly, without any need, in order to intimidate both our country and the whole world."

"The United States is accustomed to taking everything by blackmail, impudently. The truth was drowned in an ocean of fakes. They target everyone, including our neighbors, the CIS countries. Their goal is to undermine any sovereign centers of development."

"Those who accept US rules are political masochists and other followers of unconventional political relationships."

"The West denies moral norms, religion, family. Do we really want Russia to have “parent number one, two, three” instead of “mom and dad” and that perversions that lead to degradation and extinction are imposed on children in schools, supposedly there are some genders, except for women and men? For us, this is unacceptable."

"The suppression of moral values acquires the features of Satanism."

"Today we are fighting for a free and just way. For ourselves, for Russia.

We fight to make dictatorship and despotism a thing of the past."

"The battlefield to which fate and history have called us is the battlefield for our people, for great historical Russia."

"The truth is behind us! Russia is behind us!"

facepalm and cringe

So Putin is fighting a holy war against the western values, gays, NATO and colonialism (by creating colonies in occupied lands and then annexing them?) and for historical Russian lands.
He also mentioned biolabs and how USA dropped nukes on Japan and says that it was USA that destroyed the gas pipeline.
Putin urged Kyiv to immediately stop hostilities and return to the negotiating table, but the annexed territories are out of the question.

Putin says: -"NATO promised that it won't expand!"
Putin means: -"You guys ruined my plans to occupy those lands!"
