Russian Invasion of Ukraine

Jaguar Land Rover has stopped deliveries of its vehicles to Russia joining Volvo which stopped deliveries yesterday. Renault and Ford have both paused production as well:

The bombing of Dresden was terrible but at least you could argue it was a response to bombing of London. Germany was the aggressor in that war. I sense the Russian military (and Putin) are growing frustrated by slow progress and acting increasingly recklessly.
Same with Donbass. Main pro-war argument - "where you been when Ukrainians used artillery against Donbass?".

Whataboutism is soooooo strong here

You are saying Wikipedia has been blocked in Russia? That's wild...

You would think these measures would backfire for on-the-fence Russians...it kind of drives home the authoritarian state vibe.
Not sure how much they can do in protest against this. The inner circle I'd figure will keep this access on their own.

Wow... so much incorrect.

It looks like it was Ukraine that reported them dead, not "the media". And it's not clear that they're alive, there is now doubt.

Ukraine said they were dead, and Ukraine now says they might be alive. Fog of war and all that.*

There are videos of them. Here's one to summarize.

Yeah I have seen this floating around - I don't suppose it's entirely too presumptuous to give posthumous medals if all the news you have is that there was a standoff and then a bombardment, and then you've heard nothing from that position.

That said it's absolutely a huge part of this conflict what's being fed into the news and what spin you can put on individual stories as they go out - Ukraine seems to be doing a pretty good job in this narrative war.

EDIT: I hasten to add that it'd be a massive stretch to call surrendering a basically indefensible rock to a potential naval bombardment cowardly, or falling short of duty, hence such a high honour being handed down in the first place.
I don't think they're cowards, I think they did the right choice not to waste their lives. There was nothing they could do but say "Russian ship, **** off".

Ukraine reporting about destruction of Chechens that was send to kill Zelenskiy. Also, they said that info about those killers was leaked by antiwar FSB agent.

Guys, if you don't mind, post twitter messages as jpgs, I cant see what you posting.

Would be nice if a couple of A-10's showed up.
That would be fun except they'd probably take AA missiles straight to the face. The only reason the Russians can line up equipment like that is because they know Ukraine has not been able to establish air superiority. Neither side has done a very good job of it honestly.

Isn't one of the strengths of the A-10 is that it can take a ton of damage and still fly? Outside the obvious A-10s go BRRRT I don't know a ton about them.

And the convoy seems ripe for being picked off with those Turkish drones. I remember those drones gave the Russians fits when they screwed around Syria.

*Seems like they might be already:

...no Bloomberg, I'm not a robot.

I heard a military consultent commenting this on TV : "it's a candy shop for a military man".
I wouldn't discount the possibility of it being a setup to draw out fighters. Russians did this during the first Chechen war

Eventually, the Russians brought in more infantry for a house-to-house advance through the city with dismounted Russian infantry supporting armor. The Russians established ambush points, then moved armor toward the Chechens to lure the Chechens into ambushes.

Probably not the best source, but seems like some hopeful news:

Yeah I'm not gonna take anything the Sun reports as legit. Not saying it isn't but I won't believe that story until some other outlets vet it.

Russian officials dont give a **** about captured private soliders. Citizens don't believe that there are captives. Mothers of those boys dont know what to do.

Most of our private soliders are from rural and poor regions, only real social lift for them is army.
