Same car GT cup: THURSDAYS - Signup here

After a difficult round 3, where there was no shortage of controversy, many drivers are dusting themselves off and trying to put a tough race behind them, so they can focus on round 4 at Autumn Ring.

Well done to Driverone0one who lead from start to finish and managed to steer clear of all the difficulties going on behind him to take a great, mistake free win.

Here are the provisional results for round 3.

Please note that canudigthis was demoted to 5th after cutting the last chicane trying to snatch 4th from willfred_1 who now get 4th place.

if u look at the positions you can see me being shunted off the track.
p.s hopefully getting a capture card soon so could record the races or the highlights
and watched the replay and the battle for 4th between me brm and zuat was really impressive at 1 point we went in to a chicane 3 wide lol

Well....I certainly hope that I was not to blame due to lag upfront, everything looked super clean to me. I purposely went in easy and hugged the apex. I got better drive out the first chicane and passed agentareanas0 down into the following turns. I wondered how he got to the front from way back so quick?

I looked behind on the straight and noticed I began with a 1.5sec lead and built on that throughout the race, got it up to around 6sec before I pitted on lap 8. I then rejoined and drove like hell to get the maximum advantage on fresh tyres.

After agentareanas0 pitted the following lap I managed to open the gap to 12sec. I held it to the end to finish 15sec ahead.

It was super intense for me, driving alone in front, stressing to hold onto the lead with really fast drivers behind.

Anyway....Well Done to all, obviously for me it was a fantastic race.

Great battle bit i did not like all the avoidable contact. I think i was hit 10 times by the same driver. I saved the replay and saw the same thing as in the race.
My replay shows 6 cars starting the race and after the first dunlop chicane i was 2. chasing driver 1o1. He was a bit faster but i kept the gap within 3-4 seconds for a while. However i was disappointed to see the two cars chasing me cutting corners like crazy. They gained lots of time around the sections with chicanes. I was racing clean and was faster but they caught up with their corner cutting. When they finally caught up i was beeing pushed around a lot and some of the overtaking was crazy and dangerous.
After pitting on lap 7 along with Carbonox i was on my own again for a while but something very strange happened around lap 10 when all of a sudden there was 11 cars on track!!! Anyway Willfred and Carbonox and myself had a good battle before i was brushed into the gravel at breaking for Porsche curves. After that i was on my own.
The lag was also terrible for some cars.
All in all i think there was too much cutting of the chicanes and not very clean overtaking which caused me to spin a couple times and took the fun out of it all.
Kudos to driver 101 who was very fast from lap 1 to the end and seemed to race more or less cleanly.

This race was pathetic, even homes (and me, just to avoid further position losing...) were cutting corners whenever possible. I vote for Sarthe to not make an appearance on the next season...

Yeah, it is such a shame that the track looks so good at night (I love the fireworks), but it allows such severe corner cutting and causes 'frustration crashes' that I don't think we will see it in the next championship.

I think the Nurburgring 24hr track might have to replace it. As far as I know it is FAR more realistic in term of corner cutting, but it will be a huge challenge to stay on that track at night.

Are there any other tracks that can be raced at night besides that one Tokyo track that can only be raced at night?

At least the SSR's, but I'm not so sure about them making an appearance...

yea the only reason I got up to second is because at the start of the race I was in 7th position when I was supposed to be last. Then when the race started and as we were heading to the first corner people were lagging everywhere so I took the outside lanes for both of the corners and I ended up in second place. It was just crazy at the start I was scared to pass anyone because people were spinning and lagging everywhere

when I was watching the replay with out the names and info it was hard to tell the difference who was who.

so if we do do a another season I've got an idea so ill tell you it now:
note. This does require honesty and trust though
in the premium dealership there are 5 variations of the GT500 GTR with the same specs.
we could have 5 teams with 3 drivers and a backup driver for each team.
It would work very much like the dtm series. and could make the races quite alot more visually impressive

Personally I think I never cut any corners to pass you. Im not trying to be a dick about it I just dont want to get blamed for anything that I didnt do. The bumping on the straights was only trying to work together to try to get driver101, I never intended to bump you out of the way as you can see that I let go of the gas on the straight before the corner so I wouldnt push you out of the way. On the the first of the 2 ford chicane( last two corners of the track) I knew you were right on me so I went left and also made a driver mistake but I never wanted to cut that corner and you can see it didnt help me either way. The last time I saw you was when I passed you on the straight cleanly. Srry for making a fuss I just dont want to be called a dirty driver for hitting drivers off the track or cutting corners.
Srry for the bad quality. I switched to your view on the ford chicane to show that you really were on my tail.

Hey All,

Was wondering if there are still any spots available for the race this Thursday?
Was invited to join the group by worduphomes...(thanx for the invite)

Let me know...

With all the moans and gripes...just remember...

We are all just having a good time racing, win or lose, its a great championship that homes has put together and I am sure there will be improvements for the next one. We are having issues with lagg and a few bumps here and there, I was extremely unlucky at Laguna with lag at the start, but hey...that just the way it goes....

I honestly don't think there are drivers that are purposely out there to ruin someone else race, its the split second decision you make at the time of being really close to someone. Weather its trying to overtake or defending.

If you battling down the order, for me its better to work together to gain track position to try and catch the leader(s), the race is long and there's no need to try and win it in the first couple of laps. At Le Mans I should have been caught without a doubt, I was actually waiting for it, however I feel that there was obviously no tactics in managing the draft. A few cars together maximizing the draft on the straight would have been so much faster than me, with bumping and nudging through chicanes just slows the process down.

If someone is visibly faster than you coming out a turn, sometimes its better to slot in behind, regroup and try to our fox him, rather that than move radically across to block and slow the momentum....man...I suppose I can go on an on....but I think you all get the message.

Sorry..I forgot to mention an idea for the starts.

Maybe we should all race with the driving line on...this will indicate when to brake. If we all race to the first turn and start to brake when the line shows red, maybe that might stop a bit of the out-brakers bumping drivers into the dirt

Thanks for a good couple of races chaps , it is always a blast. After doing other online races you guys are by no means dirty racers. Sure we have a couple of 'bumps' but on the whole the races are clean. Just need to catch up to the leaders now.

has any read my idea of teams with the variations of the Gtr
and the driving line probably would be a good idea especially during night race

If it has the same specs, then I like the idea of the variation of car.

I was even thinking that maybe in the future as these championships grow, we can maybe all purchase the same car and have all the settings available in the lounge.

Lets say we all buy the Calsonic Nissan, just used as an example, and we then have the lounge option open for car selection. We all then run the same car again, but this time because we are bringing our own cars in we will have the "settings" option available.

This will allow guys to play with gearing, downforce etc etc. Try to find the ultimate set up for which ever track we racing on, may be interesting???

I was sure I had replied to this but cant find it in the thread...

Yeah, I like willfreds idea about using different colours of the same car. Maybe we could introduce teams too?

Maybe we could limit the PP though?

We would have to rename the series to 'Almost the same car cup'

sorry on short notice but i cant make the race today if anyone you know could drive for me atleast so i can get starting points please this would be great.

Godd raceing last night lads. Homes, well done, you were in the zone.. The cops and robbers stuff was insane, haven't laughed like that for a while. I like the use your own car option. At least this will alow us to customise our suspensions and gearing. Limit PP and cars to be the same, but ya it should work:idea:

Thanks guys. I did drive well. No mistakes, which is very rare!

Well done to carbonox for regaining the championship lead. you are going to be vaery hard to catch!
Sorry Imracer24, I asked a few people but couldn't get anyone to stand in for you.

Ok everyone, it's time to start thinking about 2 things:

1. Round 7 of our current championship - Please add some suggestions for track and amount of laps...

2. Our next series - We are thinking about possibly having a NSX vs GTR vs Lexus championship with limited PP. what do you think? and any other suggestions? Which tracks? Rule changes? etc...

Once we have a few ideas, I will create a vote

1. I think forget about having a round 7, this doesn't effect me, but I still think it would be fair to start again considering all the connection issues of round one. Start again after 6.

2. Lets go for it. Lets make it a 10 race championship with the top 8 results count, this allows you to drop your two worst scores. So if you cant make an event, that can be counted as a worst score.

Choose tracks which don't allow corner cutting. Race one real track then one fiction track. Determine the length of race in km, lets agree to a certain amount of km a race should be, then that should determine the amount of laps.

Reduce entry list to 10. No mics. Variable weather / time where we can.

Rolling starts sometimes??? or manual starts (holding brakes)
