Fair point - absurdly I thought we'd go for a measurable category, such as acceleration. On top speed, STis are limited to 155 - I'm going to get a shot of a white E-class and tie the STi.

YSSMAN, I'd like to know your criteria concerning modified cars for the Fastest Car category.

It likely depends on what shows up. Thus far, the STi takes the cake in terms of acceleration and top-speed. I may need to figure out some kind of equation to judge whats the fastest.

Toronado
What about homologation specials?

If its covered in stickers or something related to the sport, go for it. See the Jeep photo for the idea...

@ Bubble Bunny: Nice spot on the Lancer. I never see them anymore, and I'm hoping more people can prove that they're out there...

Damn, I'd try, as I can get most of them easily, but there's no such thing as a rustbucket here in SoCal, especially with the dry weather this year...

I would say the top speed since you said the fastest instead of the quickest. Either that or take both into account.

Maybe divide top-speed by acceleration times? Whoever has the highest amount wins?

...I'll probably just do top-speed...

 I missed this comment until I saw YSSMAN quote it. Hilarious - what homologation special are you going to see, a 911 GT1?!

I'll get that E-class spot up tomorrow and win out.

Aerocoupe. Or I could drive over to Savanna and get a Superbird.
Or, I could be a total ass and post pictures of Rexs and Evos, but that would just be annoying, wouldn't it?

They have Evos in Lyons, New York?

So your looking for a stock top-speed. Doug wins. If you're looking for acceleration, I might have a few buddies with a few timeslips laying around, and that's why I was wondering.

I'll take a picture of any standard, white, fleet model V8 Commodore in the last 5 years, and top that.

This places the highest model's top speed at 155 limited - same as whatever E-class I spot, and the STi already in the thread.

It's too bad that one is so dirty. Marauders look mean and sound even meaner. I've always wanted one, even though all it does well is...well...it kinda goes fast.

About as fast as a Honda Accord.

Got the white E-class spot - that ties me for fastest white car.

Fixed.
Remember, they were selling the LS at the same time, so that can't even be the best car that no one knew about that happened to be owned by Ford of 2003, much less ever.
The convertible would have owned, though.

M5Power
About as fast as a Honda Accord.
About that: How come the considerably less powerful but only vaguely lighter Lincoln Mark VII was just as fast? I've never understood that.

How long does this week last? I know a Ralliart Lancer and a Mississauga Ice Dogs SUV both call my school's parking lot home, but I won't be able to get a picture until at least Monday.

That's the new VE model though, the first one with a limiter.

Nevertheless, 6 years ago its predecessor GTS 300 (whose name implies 300kW output, or 400 horsepower) already boosted more or less the same acceleration performance, plus an unlimited top speed believed to be around 170 mph.

I don't know if I still have it, but I used to have an old Wheels magazine who did a top speed shoot-out, and the LS1 2002 Monaro did 162mph.
That site also shows the that even the new V6 models are claimed to do 149mph, the old LS1 V8s have 130hp more than that, and weigh less.

You've got until about 11 or so PM (Eastern) on Monday, that would be 8 PM (Pacific), or 4 AM (GMT) Tuesday if you're in the UK, and whatever that works out to in Australia...

Tony Stewart edition Monte Carlo...for some reason the drivers of these things constantly hit drivers of Jeff Gordon edition cars . [/nascar joke]

Ya I saw the Cayman a few cars ahead of me in traffic so I started following him, he turned into this business complex and I wait till he got out of the car and went inside. I'm glad I actually found something worth while.

Sweet finds. I love the Stewart Monte Carlo... I usually see more Dale Jr. ones than Stewart or Gordon ones around here...

And when you change the crappy air filters, it's even better. 👍 My grandpa has one.

I can top this, if neccessary.
A keen observer would note the window is partway down. This is because his interior door handle is nonfunctional.

I do remember reading that article years ago in a tyre shop  , they top speed tested a bunch of models.
