What are we talking about here?
A guy down the street from me owns a '32 Ford. Buts its all custom and such.
In any case, I remembered that another guy in town owns a Model A Pickup, so it will be one of those two.

See a Jalpa and I'll +rep the post.
Why? Are they rare or something? I know exactly where the owner lives, but I'm to lazy to transport myself over there.

A modified '32 Ford would count, unless it was impossible to tell what the hell it was. A Model A Pickup would count too. Of course the Model A would be older...

DOUG WANT SEE JALPA

I've never seen a Jalpa in my life. For the record, I've also never seen a 400/412. In fact, at this Ferrari show I was quite disappointed that one didn't show up - I know they're not exactly the 'hot stuff' Ferrari, but they're still rare, cool, and V12!

Well, this is an old picture, and it wouldn't count in any case (taken at a show), but here:

I am going to now detail reasons I'm not giving you rep.

1. Because the picture is about 12,000x9,000.
2. Because it's at a show.

However props for getting a photo with only red cars in it.

Bonus points for a plate from a state that you can't drive to or from?

Today I almost got the full set of Australian plates, only a couple very difficult ones to go.

Tasmania? Western Australia?! See Hamilton Island and I'll be impressed.

I saw a car from Hawaii yesterday. Now that's a drive.

A few hints to what I've seen thus far:

- Furthest plate distance shares a numerical value the same as my third-favorite Porsche.

- Oldest Ford dates back to the Eisenhower administration.

You really don't know?

Eisenhower was commander of Allied Forces in Europe during WWII, and later became the 34th President of the United States. He is, after all, the reason why the US protects Israel and our other interests in the Middle-East. IMO, he is one of the better Presidents we've had, certainly last of the decidedly "old-school" Republicans that preceded Nixon and Regan.

In fact he was the Republican who directly preceded Nixon, so he would've had to have been the last. For the record, the Eisenhower presidency lasted from 1953 until 1961, so he's in there somewhere.

Its a pretty easy car to beat, especially around this time in Michigan. But the funny thing is, I was already looking for a car exactly like this one only in yellow, but it wasn't where it normally was this morning.

...Either way, I probably looked like a crazy person pulling into the bank and looking at the car. What a beautiful color though... Easily one of the best Fords of the era in terms of looks, performance, and capability... Although, the Impala was by-far the better choice...

What did you see, an Edsel?

P.S.: I'm pretty sure I know what you are talking about.

I think the giveaways were the words "looks" and "performance," which pretty much narrows the possibilities down to one or two, since we're talking before the end of the Eisenhower Administration.

...Although, I may be able to find an older model in the next day or so...

And in a semi related story: I had planned on getting a photo of a BMW 2002, but the guy who lived down the street from my Dad either moved or sold one of the restoration jobs he had outside of his barn. Crap.

Tasmania?

Well actually...
dsc00611bu3.jpg

Not the furthest away I've got so far. But probably the hardest one to get, since you can't actually drive from there.

Corolla wagons are 1337.

You know, what I thought you were talking about when I made that post and what I'm 95% sure you are talking about now upon reflection are so different that it is comical. I think it stems from me thinking you meant actual Impala competitors, which made me think Crown Victoria Skyliner.

And where exactly are you located?

Melbourne.

So yeah, Melbourne to Hobart, Tasmania is only 450miles (Although 270miles of water). But they're still pretty rare to see see. Wierdo Tasmanians usually stay in Tasmainia

Thank God - last thing you need is them coming over in their Corolla wagons and talking funny.

They all talk funny down in the part of the world anyway.

I've seen a car from a far away country a few times in the last few weeks, but never in any of the previous weeks where that has been a category. The category pops up again, so I go to take a photo of it, and it wasn't there! :grumpy: You must be in league with the owners, Doug. :grumpy:

Hi, Ive been looking at this for a while and I thought I would go out and see what I could see.
Though can I post them up whenever, or do I have to wait?:)

You can post them up whenever you want as long as it's by next Monday, but I would suggest waiting until Sunday or Monday to post them.

They talk funny everywhere but Scotland, right daan?

You got me! This category keeps getting won by North Americans - I'd love it if you could find that car again and post that picture - we need some variety!

Unless Embassy vehicles count?

No - they do not - as they are registered in your country.

They're registered, as in: "I state that I imported this vehicle and it complies with Israeli law", but full registration means getting the standart yellow/black plate.

It is about 3000 miles* from one side of the US to the other. As an example, Moscow is 2200 miles* away from Glasgow. The odds are that this category will be won by a North American.

*according to Google maps

This is not a complaint. I do like this category, and hope it appears regularly.

If they're Embassy cars, they've probably not been imported. Many ambassadors - including nearly every ambassador to the US - purchase vehicles in the country in which they reside while they are serving as a diplomat.

Another thing the category has going for the North Americans is that we have huge population centers on both sides of the country. Living in the middle of America, I'm actually at a huge disadvantage, because even seeing a car from Florida here, which is about the limit of what I'll be able to see, a vehicle seen from Michigan, a very populated midwestern state, in Los Angeles would be further.

Consequently it's no surprise the category has been won by people living relatively near to the coast each time it's been in play.

Perhaps it is a bad category and should be removed (in the future) on these grounds - I too like it, but I feel like it does give some disadvantages and advantages.

I got my BMW, the only problem is I think I might be older.

To be honest, i find other categories that involve expensive cars to be more disadvantageous or advantageous for people depending on where they live. For example, a most expensive MR car would be a lot easier for someone living in Beverley Hills LA to spot compared to someone living in Mobile Alabama :indiff:
