Rusty Car...errr truck. I mean this is XTREMELY rusted. Oh and the GTP sticker for proof.

p6020095fc7.jpg

 Still wouldn't have been enough, that was a four banger truck.

You mean Chevy actually sold those silly things (saying that with full knowledge that I readily buy them as I think they look awesome) with an engine other than the 4300? That is hilarious. Didn't they learn their lesson with the Cameo?

Gah, the non 4.3 S-10's were dogs, my grandma had one and it was the slowest thing I had ever driven. What I will never understand though is why the Xtreme's didn't either a.) get more power or b.) get a V8.

So, just to confirm we can submit more than one entry per category?

Also, I was counting on getting a Ralliart Wagon in the carpark where I work on Monday, but Monday is a holiday... :banghead:

I think I've got all my shots though...

Its just one entry. Those that have turned in more than one photo will have to decide what one specifically they will need to use...

And ya'all have got until 11PM EST on Monday to turn them in...

Freebie spot:

I'll post the rest tomorrow.

OK, here are my entries for this week:

Fastest WHITE car

A white R34 Nissan Skyline GTR:

On my way home from work - kinda dark out.

The BEST CAR nobody knew about

The Steve Millen Nissan Primera:

Wikipedia
In 1998 Nissan New Zealand released a limited edition Primera SMX with association with Steve Millen (Stillen Sports Parts). Features include cross drilled brakes, eibach springs and a more aggressive body kit. There were a total of 24 made in 4 colour choices. This was due to the fact that until 1998 (due to lifting of import tariffs on cars) Nissan New Zealand had an automotive assembly operation, and for a short time between 1997 and 1998 the P11 Primera was assembled there.

One of only 24 built!

BONUS SPOT: Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart

It was 0200 on a rainy Saturday morning...

As I said earlier, I counted on getting another Sportback from my work, however today is a holiday! Shouldn't have left it so late...

In addition to the Lancer Ralliart I posted above for one point, the rest of my sightings are...

'SPORTS' CAR:
scavenger-060307.jpg

scavenger-060307-2.jpg

The Toyota Tundra behind the obvious focal point of this photo is decked out in Denver Broncos colors and logos. I ask someone - anyone - to beat that.

FASTEST WHITE CAR:
scavenger-060407-3.jpg

scavenger-060407-4.jpg

Easy victory here; these top out at 193mph. However, the real victor is this spot:

scavenger-060307-3.jpg

Those top out at 205mph, although that's de-restricted. Doesn't much matter - pick one, they both trounce anything previously posted.

RUST VEHICLE
scavenger-060407-.jpg

Colorado is quite dry - this is the rustiest vehicle I saw all week.

BEST CAR NOBODY KNEW ABOUT
scavenger-060407.jpg

Toyota Corolla XRS. Fortunately, you knew about it, so I won't have to go through the particulars.

Doug FTW!

I'm going to give everyone one more hour for those last few photos...

...Right now the votes are tight and I'm having some issues with a few of the categories...

WAITWAITWAIT!!!

Here's my entries-
Best Car No One Knows About:
carspot001me3.jpg

First Gen Tore-Ass SHO.

RUST-TASTIC:
carspot001nj4.jpg

Fully satisfied with the results, I have decided upon the following:

BEST 'SPORTS' CAR:

I had to give it to the Monte. Although the Tundra was a good spot with all the stickers and whatnot, the Monte is a fully-dedicated NASCAR model to the driver and the car itself with the special paint, stickers, and interior trim. I still like those wheels on the old SS S/C models...

FASTEST WHITE CAR:

M5Power

It wins hands-down. The M5 was a good spot, but in stock trip it came up short. Thus the 911 takes it...

MOST RUST-TASTIC VEHICLE:

M5Power

This was the first of the hard ones to decide, and I eventually enlisted the help of my brother (an auto body specialist) to decide. While Slick's Nissan was indeed rusty, it was fairly minor damage. The same can be said of the S10, by which it was really only a rusty panel. Thus, the Corolla with the crappy Maco paint job (check the badges, they're painted over), nasty rust holes, and the falling apart rear end made it a winner.

BEST VEHICLE NO ONE KNEW ABOUT:

This however was the most-difficult to decide. Ferrari_Chris' Nissan was indeed a model I've never heard of, but with only 24 produced, there is good reason for it. It was an awesome spot, certainly worth credit in the "What Did You See Today" thread, but the outrageously low production numbers made me choose Joey's submission, the Mercury Marauder.

They are quite rare, only a couple thousand built each year, and even more rare as the colors go away from black. They were cool cars in my opinion, particularly for a Mercury, and it was a shame that Ford didn't have more success with the car here in the US. Even in domestic-dominated Michigan, they are few and far between, and we'll buy anything if it has an American badge on the hood...

So, the scores then sit at;

Joey D: 2pts
M5Power: 2pts

BONUS SPOTS (Lancer Ralliart or Sportback):

- Bubble Bunny
- M5Power
- Ferrari_Chris

===

Therefore:

- M5Power, 3pts
- Joey D, 2pts
- Ferrari_Chris, 1pt
- Bubble Bunny, 1pt

Further Suggestions After This Week

We may want to limit the posting of our cars until the day before, or the day of the due date. We had a sort of early start with this weeks categories, and it sort of showed some of us the way in which we needed to go, and therefore the search for the given cars began.

IMO, this needs to be more like a game of poker, insofar that we don't necessarily show what we have, but may (more or less) give hints as to what we have... Bluff a bit, etc.

...Just something to keep in mind for next week...

Woo hoo! For the record I had not even taken a single photograph (aside from the Ralliart Lancer and the Broncos Tundra, though obviously the photographs just happened to include that vehicle) until about 3pm today. Then I realized I still had yet to skip a category. I found the Corolla on my way home; I took the 997 shot on company time. Don't tell.

This week's categories...

OLDEST BMW: I don't believe this category will give the Europeans any special advantage, since old BMWs are getting rare no matter where you are. But in case it does...

OLDEST FORD: $10 says the winner is pre-1950.

MOST VALUABLE MID-ENGINED CAR: this category, mind you, is not called 'most valuable rear-engined car.' Carrera GT, yes. 911, no.

LONG DISTANCE: I know how much you guys like this category, and it's back! I swear this will be the last time, but it's late and I have work tomorrow and I really didn't expect to win. So this will do in a pinch. Rules are the same from the two prior times; presumption from the largest city in that area unless it can be identified as being from a different place. Go on, get to spotting license plates dammit.

BONUS: AMG convertible. Any will do, but it must be an AMG model - not any of this 'CLK500 AMG' crap. TWIST: if ANYONE sees a V12 AMG (i.e. SL65, S65, or CL65), then only V12 AMG sightings count. Anyone posting a non-V12 will not get a point. So, if Joey and Slicks see SL55s, they're set to receive a point. But then if YSSMAN comes in with a CL65 spot, he gets a point and they get nothing. If Joey then comes back with an SL65, both he and YSSMAN get points. But, Slicks is still left out unless he can find that luscious biturbo V-12. IN OTHER WORDS: you can screw your opponents over by seeing the rarer vehicles.

NO SHOWS! NO DEALERS! NO OLD BMW JUNKYARDS!

Oldest Bimmer is mine! That is, if I get my camera-cable found in time.

If we had Oldest Chevy/GM car, I might've done that too - we've got a stock one from the '30s in in a nearby block.

Not a bad idea, I think I will be doing that.

Does it have to be stock?

Jalpa's aren't particularly valuable, are they?

I was unaware that CL class cars were convertibles. Tell me more.

I think Doug meant that the bonus category will be AMG convertibles until/if someone kicks it up another notch by posting a 65. Then the whole category changes to AMG 65 vehicles

Or at least thats the way i interpret it to be

What are we talking about here?

You can PM me if you don't want to reveal age.

See a Jalpa and I'll +rep the post.

Bubble Bunny. Brilliant as always.

I'm surprised I haven't gotten any complaints yet for the license plate category again.

Is a Cayman MR or RR?
I think it would be classed as an MR...

Oh, and I like the License plate category... I've got people from all over in the area of my work.

Some guest professor just came in from California so I'll have to find his BMW.
