Percentage gains would probably make more sense overall. Even if you are going from 400 to 500 BHP, its less impressive than going from 150 to 300.

We probably have an advantage here in Europe over you guys in the US in this category. Take the 5-series for example. We both get 505hp M5's - your least powerful 5 has 230hp - ours, the 520d, has 163hp.

Do HSV's count? 'cause the base Holden Commodre Omega has 190kw and the HSV GTS has 300KW.

I'd be more inclined to think the GTS is a sports version of the SS, which in turn a sports version of the Omega. If that makes sense...

But first in with the quickest SUV

Ford Territory Turbo

Hard to tell from this shot that it's the Turbo, but I know where one lives, so I'll get another one later.

0-100: 7.3

Although Cayenne Turbo's aren't uncommon around here, and I assume that's quicker then this.

Can't play this week (I'm out of town) except to submit those photos for the bonus. Give me my gosh dang point! Everyone else - good luck!!

Well, I've got a start on the weight category: It involves a Pontiac from the middle 1980s, and with only 140 BHP, gets a pretty high LB/BHP rating...

How do you guys want me to judge the power gain category? Straight up power gain or percentage?

I totally think I have a car that can walk the worst PWR category. Its a mid-80s GM product, and it doesn't use gasoline.

Correct me if im wrong but my tourist trophy experience tells me this is a kwack ZX-10R. Once again, im posting this early because they are relatively cheap so i dont expect it to win

Alright that's cool

Biggest horsepower gain from a sport package - The STOCK vehicle with the biggest gain from normal to "sport" package. Example: The Chevy Impala comes standard with 211hp but the SS package is at 303hp meaning there is a 92hp gain.

Most valuable motorcycle - The motorcycle that cost the most when new, no custom choppers allowed.

Quickest SUV - The STOCK SUV with the best 0-60/62mph time, this must be classified an SUV by the automaker themselves. No Crossovers.

Worst power to weight ratio - The stock car that had to much weight and not enough go power. Example: The Blazer is 3712lbs with 190hp...meaning 19.54lbs/hp.

Bonus
Audi RS4

I have ideas. I wonder if that Cayenne Turbo S is still close to my work... ( can think of a couple categories where this would pwn). 250 HP to 521, anybody?

How do you guys want me to judge the power gain category? Straight up power gain or percentage?

Percentage, in my opinion. Allows for a greater range of competitive cars, not just the 250-->500 sedans. Percentage means many hothatches and smaller cars can compete in the 200%-range.

I'd be more inclined to think the GTS is a sports version of the SS, which in turn a sports version of the Omega. If that makes sense.../QUOTE]

So by that argument then the M5 BMW would be the sports version of the 550i rather than the 520d?

In a way, yes. A 520d 2-litre diesel has nothing in common with a 5-litre revver like the one in the M5...

So, what's everyone's opinions regarding engines? I'd take the middle-of-the-road engines compared to the range-topping Sport-pack engines. In the M5/5-series argument, that would be the 300HP engine, which should be available everywhere.

Joey picked the categories and will be judging the results. Which ever entry he deems best suits what he had in mind will be the winner.

Sheesh, I saw a BMW 720i today... that would've been the best for sucky hp vs. mammoth weight

Joey picked the categories and will be judging the results. Which ever entry he deems best suits what he had in mind will be the winner.

Highlighted part means that we need to know what he had in mind, so we can look for better entries. An M5 might be considered a great entry if we judge it compared to the 520d or 523i, but is much less attractive if it is compared against the beefier 530i, 540i or even the 360HP 550i. The sooner we decide on that issue, the better and more competitive the entries found will be.

Joey, as picker of the category, you decide - percents or total HP, and lowest, mid- or highest-capacity engine compared against Sport-model?

We'll do the percentages since it offers the most competition.

Joey, as picker of the category, you decide - percents or total HP, and lowest, mid- or highest-capacity engine compared against Sport-model?

Surely it's got to be lowest<highest? - it would be too much hastle, and would cause too many arguments if it was mid<highest. What defines mid anyway? Is a 530d more or less than a 530i?

You are right...lowest to highest does make the most sense.

Fastest SUV and Most HP difference

Cherokee SRT8. 0-60 in 5.9

From 210 HP to 425 = (carry the two) 215 HP difference

I believe you posted that charger pic a while ago. The rule states that pictures must be taken within this week. aka from the last monday to the next monday. Not from a few weeks ago.

An idea for the engine size/power debate - Smallest petrol engine. Since diesels are much less common on this side of the pond, it helps to even the playing field.
So Smallest Petrol vs. Performance model it is?

Possible entry for biggest power difference. 202 >>> 380 Horsepower (Assuming base 4.2 V6).

I'm quite disappointed, though. The Cayenne Turbo S was in the parking lot this morning, but I figured I'd wait until break in a couple hours and get a shot of it then. Well, it left sometime between 7:50 AM and 10:00 AM. I'll check tomorrow morning, but I'm not too hopeful.

Edit - Can we get an updated leaderboard, Joey?

No. That totally sucks. I constantly get shafted by the stupid "longest distance" category that gets posted every second week.

And the playing field never gets leveled for people that aren't American. Why can't you guys get the **** end of the stick for once?

Somehow I feel like it should be a true sports "package" and not just a sportier edition of a car... like the X50 option on 911 Turbos, or the Mopar Stage2&3 upgrades on SRT-4's, or the Roush packages for Mustangs (which are sold at Ford dealerships)

It's not always obvious whether a 'package' has been added to a vehicle or not though is it with most of the changes under the skin.

None of the categories this week are American specific and most of the time they aren't. A lot of the time the categories have to do with a certain car in a certain color.

Biggest horsepower gain from a sport package: This is a world category, every car company has a normal version and a sporty version of at least one of their cars.

Most valuable motorcycle: If someone in Europe is paying attention they will win because BMW bikes are far more common over there then here.

Quickest SUV: Cayenne Turbos are worldly.

Worst power to weight ratio: Simple category, there are plenty of underpowered overweight cars out there...I'm sure some older Volvos and Mercedes fit this.

Audi RS4: Easy world spot.

Slicks

It will be whatever engine comes standard in the car vs. the sport model. The sport model has to be badge as such. Diesel engines will not be counted.

Also I'll update the leaderboard...I some how forgot.

I went hunting for the Cayenne Turbo that usually lurks behind my work but I found a Touareg V10 TDi in its spot.

Still at 0–62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.8 seconds, and on to 143 mph (230 km/h) maximum. It's hardly a slug.

Also it's a reasonable jump in horsepower from the base 2.5 Diesel (172Hp -308hp) Torque jump is far more impressive though (400nm - 750nm).

Finally got off my lazy ass and updated the leaderboard. Doug is still on top.
