I found a Red Line on the dealer lot, but I've been unable to find one on the street. It has to be one of the rarest American cars in recent memory, even in Michigan...

When I was in the UK I saw cars from all over the world - including several on Arab plates. I'll get the damn Saturn photo tonight.

I was referring more to our New Zealanders in this thread who brought up this issue - the UK is at least connected to a continental land mass by a car-transporting tunnel.

Thanks for thinking of us 'lil old New Zealanders. We also only have a total population of 4 million so it means there are less people to buy cool cars for me to photograph :) . Not that I am complaining though as it makes it more of a challenge and more fun when I do find what I am hunting for, which I thought was kind of the point of the game.

I don't know how much I'll be around this weekend and wanted to do this before I forgot.

Plates say that Sienna is running the 230hp 3.3. It's not the same as the 270hp 3.5 that does the 6.8sec 0-60. And by the way we rent the Sienna and have an '07 with the 270hp 3.5 and let me just tell you: 6.8 seconds is UNDER estimating it. Floor it and you blink, it hits 40. It's so much quicker than my Audi that it's embarrassing. I LOVE driving that van.

It's hard to tell by the plates in Michigan because we can transfer them with no problems to whatever we want. My mom's Pacifica had the blue plate up until last month when her birthday was....and actually that thing has expired tags, it has a blue JAN on the plate which means it's JAN of 07 when it expired .

But you are probably right on the engine, I'll have to keep a look out for a newer one.

I had planned on posting, but I'm not worried about it. I'm leaving for Miami tomorrow, and if I did anything close to winning, I'd feel bad being gone the whole time.

Here are mine:

But presumably when registering the 2007 Sienna you'd need to get the new plates. Either way the wheels are from the old model. I say count it, but what do I know.

Incredibly, I got the Redline spot...

And for all you doubters out there who think a soccer mom tossed a bodykit on her Vue, here's the badge...

The rest of my spots will be posted some time between now and tomorrow evening.

I must post up that Nissan Almera VXR Type-R GT-R I spotted...

I thought it had to be an Ion Redline? Or would any Redline do?

Original post:

Bonus
Vauxhall VXR, Opel OPC, Saturn Redline or Holden HSV.

VXR, OPC, and HSV are all lines of products, just as Red Line is a line of products - though Red Line has just two products, both of which sold in extremely small numbers. Therefore it's only logical to assume that we're referring to all Red Lines (or, 'both' Red Lines) just as we're referring to all HSVs, OPCs, and VXRs.

There are 3 Redlines, the VUE, ION, and now Sky.

My current entries:

Most Expensive Honda:

scavhuntwk10priceyhondagn1.jpg

It's impossible to determing which of several models these cars are. However, at the time the Accord was purchased (1st November 2006), the pound was trading at $1.9042 against the dollar, a record high, putting it above the Civic no matter what and at a price range of $38,307 - $43,019.

Biggest Exhaust

scavhuntwk10zorst1qd6.jpg

Not the biggest - looks like 2.5" across - but certainly the biggest compared to displacement on this 1.6 Corsa. This tip has to be wider than its pistons...

scavhuntwk10zorst2rt4.jpg

4 inch tip on a GTO/3000GT. Bam!

Lightest Car
Now I could have cheated and gone for my brother's 456kg (1005lb) Ariel Atom 2. But I'd have wasted the opportunity to go one lighter...

scavhuntwk10lightestcarcd2.jpg

scavhuntwk10lightestcario6.jpg

Ladies and germs, I give you the Microcar Virgo Prestige HSE Automatic. According to its page at Parker's, this 505cc powerhouse tips the scales at an incredible 370kg (815lb).

Can I submit my own car for largest exhaust?

wrxopt3-1.jpg

115mm tip, which is 4.5".

I didn't set out to buy the damn watermelon shooter, by the way... was gonna get something more restrained, but I got an insane price on this A'PEXi N1 Titanium, so I had to take it up. It's a proper race exhaust, too, not some ricey junk, and it sounds beautiful, very mellow, and not buzzy at all.

Actually, here's a clip of the same exhaust. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQyCzJEI2Hk

Right, so here we go:

Biggest exhaust

Most Expensive Honda Honda FR-V - This car sells for 32,000€ ($43,100.96)

Quickest minivan
Mercedes Benz R320 CDI 4Matic (0-100 kph@8,7 segs )

Would it be too much to ask that we get the facts straight during the first day the competition is running? I spent about 2 hours one day looking for a freakin' VXR only to come back home and find out the OPC was also valid... I saw two OPCs that day. Secondly, no one answered my Microcar question, since it's essentially a motorcycle engined car and you don't need a driver's licence to drive it.

The Mercedes Benz R320 is not a mini van, that's a crossover. Mini vans have sliding rear doors.

er... no... it's sold as a minivan here... the Citroen Xsara Picasso doesn't have sliding doors either and it's still a minivan. In fact, there's only about two cars that have rear sliding doors here, and none of them are minivans: the Peugeot 1007 and the rest are large vans.

Agreed. The Toyota Previa is the only one I can think of with a sliding rear door - the Espace certainly doesn't have one. The Peugeot 1007 (citycar) and Mazda5 (crossover) have sliding rear doors without being minivans.

Mercedes calls it a Multi-Activity Vehicle.

http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/con...nger_cars/home/products/new_cars/r_class.html

And Parker's refer to it as a "Premium MPV", with Wikipedia calling it an "MPV/SUV crossover".

But I agree with -Diego- - simple categories mean no fuss. No toss like "sports package" (where we class a supercharged V8 as a sports package of a 4 cylinder diesel) or ill-defined car classes (what IS an MPV anyway? We have enough trouble defining "supercar" these days - manufacturers blur the lines so much) - or region specific (or favouring) challenges.

Thanks for that Famine.

I was walking around the town a moment ago and couldn't find a single vehicle that was both a MPV and had sliding doors. The only ones I saw that had sliding doors were the Peugeot 1007 (citycar) and the Renault Kangoo, which in no way is a minivan.

I saw Renault Scenic, Peugeot C4 minivan, Ford Focus C-Max, Seat Altea XL, Ford Galaxie... none have rear sliding doors.

@Roo: Do the words street legal mean much to you?

so ummm... it's 23:19 on the monday... will the next competition run until tuesday of next week? :D

@Roo: Do the words street legal mean much to you?

:sly:

I was actually looking for the rules in this thread regarding sightings being on the road from the previous 7 days, but either a) I missed them or b) they aren't here.

I'm betting on a).
