race 2
with the reverse grids taking effect i started towards the back of the grid, i got a good start...

really looking forward to the next race with you guys and thanks again :)

:irked: Hmmm. That's not what was supposed to happen. If you re-enter the lobby in between races, under the "Reverse Finishing Order" option, you should have started the 2nd race in one of the first 3 grid positions. And if you were disconnected from Race one, I consider this only fair. I know I started 10th with MHailwood behind me and Manny in front of me, which is exactly what should have happened. I guess it doesn't always work.

The whole qualifying thing is a bit of a nuissance but it seems the only way to really form a proper grid and as such, it's not too bad. :)

Anyway, glad to have you on board Kux! 👍 And I'm happy to hear you enjoyed the event.

Well not much to review in my racing last night...
Despite loving this track it was never one of the tracks where I felt more confortable:nervous: and I seem to have days(well nights) where I can do some average laps and others where I completly 🤬 up...
Last night was one of those nights...
Family over for dinner so the living room-where I play- was a little bit crowded, thats why mic was off until the wet race-and sat by the tv with embaressement of having that feeling of people looking at me with that feeling of "how does a grown man likes kid's stuff":banghead:

With this mental constrains and trying at all costs to do a white lap I did a granny qualifying lap:indiff:
At the beginning of the race the footage Jeff posted earlier become quite real:scared:
After a couple of laps and some trade paint and positions with Frank and Sérgio me and Kemp(nice driving:tup: ) engaged in a nice battle for 4 or 5 laps in the same pace but finnaly I was able to overtook him after the last chicane where he spun(probably due to some freeze since he was DC just after that...).
So I found myself in 8th with a 7 sec gap to Peter, and as in the process I was able to build a confortable gap(17 secs) to the driver behind me-Frank- I thought it was a wise decision to take some risks and try to catch Grandma Biggles and ask him for some of that delicious cookies he so much brags off:P;)
I made a couple of average (1,48,xx) laps and was able to reduce the gap to 2 secs coming in the back straight after the hairpin:dopey:
But strangely I saw new_soul parked in the grass on the left side and figured that something abnormal had happened to him:confused:
After a few corners he was breathing on my neck and overtook me then made a mistake and I overtook him again, a few times.I even thought "what is wrong with new_soul today driving as bad as I do" but after he managed to adapt to his messed up configuration and overtook biggles again....again I was 5 secs behind... Frank was now 23 secs behind me and again I tryed to push hard, managed to reduce the gap to 3 secs... to blew it in the 18 lap with a pennalty:nervous:
After the race I was finaly alone in the living room, connect the mic have some chat with you guys and thought "Ok now I can focus and try to do a little better" as I knew my average pace of 1,51 in the wet was a little more competitive than the average 1,48 dry-which I hadn't be able to keep in the previous race.
Due to the inverted grid order and managing to avoid FINGERSANDTHUMBS missed start after a couple of corners I was in 3rd behind new-soul and Kemp, going down the pre hairpin short straight I've managed to get close to them and overtaking new_soul on the inside, as him and kemp had went a little wide...as I was accelarating after the hairpin side by side with Kemp trying to get the lead I saw his car ramdomly crash and thought "here he goes again"....but no ,it was my turn for misfortune and got booted:banghead:🤬:boggled:

My setups (thanks Manny:tup: ) were:

Dampeners: soft/soft
Springs:soft /soft
anti-sway bars: hard/hard
ride height: -30/+30
camber: -3.92/-2.75
toe: +.004/+.004

Setup

The only thing i changed since miami was toe -25 -25. More pep in my step and much sharper turn in.. .worked werry well in the practice races.

My review of the SCC Montreal race...

Qualyflying
On Lap 1 i was in the last position at the start,
everybody started slowly in to formation lap and i decidet to wait for a little while,
was counting cars on the map and was waching out of the window.:dunce:.

I was to late to know that Hailwod was in the last corner alredy, i misscauculated, the gap panicked and started, instead of waiting for everybody to go by. was in to turn1 behind Hailwod and the gap to the car back was ok, started lap2 went red in the last turn + penalty, and abandoned the lap..

Race
Started last,
turn 1 bumped bullies car a little bit, was of power to eliminate the advantage gained,
then started to pass cars got many penalties and of track moments, while battering for position,
I gained 2-3 positions and fell back 2-3 becaus of penalty's then later in the race accelerating out of the hairpin lost power and stearing, did not know was ist das,???
My car was in the grass and standing, my controler turned off and i was presing the PS button but nothing happened,
as many cars went buy and i didnt understand why that thing is not working, :ouch::grumpy: i touth i get soon a DQ when im not abel to start the car, i wuled out the usb and nothing happened, put it bach and it started to blink but didnt conect:ouch: unpluged the usb ans the controler synced and i was moving again

came back on track almoust crashed in to arvore, then it started all again, overtaking and penalties and of track moments and:scared::scared::scared::scared: moments.. my race was awfully bad sorry if ayon anything. My race ended with a disconect close to the end of the race, a lap before LXX disconected in the braking area as wee were side by side to the last turn.

Sprint
Started well in front, got a surprise right at the start:dunce: my controler configuration did change and i forgot to reset it..:ouch: that ment i was mising the shifts and had som problems downshifting with the Right analog stick and braking with the L2 despit that i was abel to fight for position anddefend of Jeff and Hailwood in the 1st part of the race, mid race Hailwood had pased me and Henrick was 7 sec back, i tryed to move past Hailwood in the S turn under the bridge and:scared::scared: must have made his car spin som how:dunce:
sorry..
Then he recovered and MHM66 was right behind him and fast past, got of the power on the back straight to go 3rd for that spin under the bridge, i heard they had a good race:tup:👍
Had som further problems adapting to the new controler configuration, penalties missshifts and missed braking points, and Jeff was abel to pass me, and build a 10 sec gap:ouch:

that was a unbelievabley dissapointing performance from me and som unfortunate tec problems...

:ouch::ouch:

when is the next race this i have forgoren:grumpy:

werry interesting from my point of viewe,,, if i had a video camera:drool:

This sounds like a complete nightmare - and coming from one of the fastest guys on this game! Are you sure you weren't just being fair and giving everyone a chance ;)

With this mental constrains and...

 I have to tell you, my father (72) lives only about a km away from us. And every once in a while it happens that he's bored and decides to come visit when I'm racing. Keep in mind, (these special events aside) I try to run my PS3 race time only when my daughter is asleep at night or in the afternoon for a nap. So I usually have a tight window of when I allow myself the indulgence. And sure enough, I would be racing for five minutes and he would stand next to me and start talking to me and completely distract me. Within a minute or two, I was in the wall or off the track, every time. So after a few tries of asking politely I finally had to be really firm and tell him please NOT to talk to me if he sees me sitting in my 'special chair'.

This met with only mild success. Every once in a while I'll be racing and will hear a chuckle when I make a mistake. I quickly look around to see him sitting behind me, watching, laughing, usually with a glass of wine in his hand, as if it's all great amusement. So now when I race, every time I hear a noise, I'm paranoid and keep turning around to see if he's sitting there.

I swear I'm going to have to make him wear a bell around his neck when he comes down to the basement. :scared::lol:

This sounds like a complete nightmare - and coming from one of the fastest guys on this game! Are you sure you weren't just being fair and giving everyone a chance

The thought did cross my mind as well. And I'm sure I wasn't the only one. :)

many thanks for letting me participate in last nights event .
the first race was an absolute shocker for me and couldnt put 2 decent laps together , evan if i had i was well off the pace from the front runners. being consistant could have made for a good race with bullie but every time i made time up , i would miss my brake zone and make a mess of the corner .

race 2 , im sorry if i messed up anyones race at the beginning , i couldnt beleive my eyes when i walked into my living room and saw my car going round in circles on the grid :) i enjoyed this race alot more and cut the mistakes down by half ,and was nailing it towards the end (well my nailing it anyway)and made nearly 15 secs up to catch bullie ,wich as bullie said would have made for a very interesting last lap.but i couldnt keep my cool and pushed to hard to catch him and went of track:ill:(get you next time)
i only had standard car set up .

thanks again 👍

This sounds like a complete nightmare - and coming from one of the fastest guys on this game! Are you sure you weren't just being fair and giving everyone a chance ;)

It all started in the Qualy, made a mess and was fair to not post my red lap despite a penalty i wold had ben up in the midle somwhere, therest was bad luck and failuer to focus with everything going downhill and som pressure faling back and having to make up even more time,
and i was not the same as the day before

Somtimes Thats the downside of racing sundays, Friday wold work perfect for me, will be back 100% and flying in the next race.

Was a bit nervous before the races cause I didn't want to do anything wrong for my first participation!

1st race :
Was 7th on the grid after qualif. At first I said to me it was a not so bad, but then realized that I will start in the middle of the pack:nervous: and with my little experience of starting with so many cars on the grid in scc, it was going to be a real "challenge". And what would happen, happened : brake too early at turn one and been bumped...:indiff: Back to last. Then, thanks to people driving everywhere except on the track I was back to 7th or 8th? don't remember. Then I impressed myself doing good and constant laps (PB 1:47.63) & having a good battle with arvore on my back(hope your kiss to the Quebec wall was not my fault but we were so close...) Then was I was trying to catch Simcoace who was 3sec in front of me and without mistakes I could have catch him. But as I was pushing hard (too hard!) to do it, and I also said hello to the Quebec wall, totally lost control, crossed the track and crashed in the left wall...:ouch: All the neighbors could hear me insult all the world for my stupidity:banghead: . Trying to go back to track without bumping someone, back to work with my brain burning, and after what I was hoping not happen, happended, I was disconected...ended my race at lap 8..:ill: no "more" comment...

2nd race :
Oh! Surprised! I m first on the grid! (Yes I m new to this!) Oh! Surprised again! I have a good start and I m still first after the firsts turns, but it will not last long and Im 4th after the first lap...then I had a good race in the first 8 laps but after that I just don't know what happended to me but it was just impossible to do good laps, doing tons of mistakes:ouch: 4 or 5 laps before the end I was in 8th position with frawe maybe 15 sec behind me. But after some gardening and wall kissing, frawe was 3 sec behind me in the last straight:scared: and to finish my fantastic race I did the exactly same mistake as in the first race in the last chicane and frawe pass me..:dunce:(I know you was waiting for it! And sure you re still laughing :sly:)

Thanks again jjaisli to let me participate. And thanks to the others too! I had a great time with you on track! See you!;)

Here is my review of the race.

1. race:
After the start I had a little bit trouble with the pack. There was some bumpers and outbrakes, the common things after the race started. I tried to calm down because this was a long race. I was able to pass bullie and stayed behind avore. My goal was to stay with him and if possible find a way to pass him. But with some mistakes I lost contact to him and he was going away. I had some phases with good and constant pace mixed with rounds full of mistakes. Bullie was behind me and I increased the gap between us. with nearly 30 sec. in front I decided to bring my position and the car home safely. I saw the leaders coming for lapping and hoped I can end the race without being lapped. This goal was achieved. At the end I had 42 sec. in front of bullie.
In every round I had a massive frame stutter when I entered the Ponte de la concorde. This was very annoying and let me made some mistakes here which shouldnt happen normaly.

2. race:
After the first corners I found myself off the track (I think someone bumped me out) and at the end of the field. Before I had a little trouble with bullie (bumped him) and during my waiting for him a few others slipped through.
Being the last with 7-8 sec. behind I started my run again. A few round later I passed finger and then bullie. He was offside and I slipped through. I had a good constant driving also next in front of me was 20 sec which is normally hard to close. It was a little surprise for seeing me rapidly decreasing the gap to kemp. In the last round I was 4 sec behind him and on the last straight 3 sec. I really hoped that he makes an mistake in this last chicane. And yes, he did. I passed him and won the 8. place. @kemp I didnt laugh but there was a little smile and a great relief that I made it.

having a good battle with arvore on my back(hope your kiss to the Quebec wall was not my fault but we were so close...)

No it was really my fault trying to overtake you in that tight chicane you did a very nice clean race as usual:tup:

Same here lap after lap in that right same spot ,pretty annoying:drool:
The same hapens at Nuburgring...:yuck:

Both races went pretty smoothly for me - I didn't put in any particularly fast laps (a full 2 seconds slower than my fastest lap time in practice), but on the other hand, I didn't make any major mistakes, never had a penalty & only a couple of red laps.

I do have a complaint against new_soul who who wasn't content with just passing me once: no, he had to overtake me at least 5 or 6 times in the course of the first race. As I knew he had red-lapped his qualifying lap, I wasn't surprised to find him steam past me on the second or third lap & gradually disappear into the distance. I WAS surprised to see him careen into a wall, & pick up penalties on a couple of the chicanes. Each time I would go sailing past, only to have new_soul reappear in my mirror half a lap later, go tearing past at the first opportunity & disappear into the distance again. The final touch was coming up the back straight half way through the race, only to see new_soul sitting on the grass at the side of the track - presumably having a cigarette or text messaging someone - waiting until I had passed him so that he could, once again, overtake me. :ouch:

Other than being humiliated by new_soul, the other thing that stuck in my mind was how many times the FASTEST LAP message would flash up on the screen & block my view, precisely at the moment when I was approaching the critical braking point for the final chicane. :ill:

Congrats to L499 & Kemp - newcomers who did a nice job & raced very fairly. I was particularly impressed when Kemp drafted me on the long straight, but had the presence of mind to back off before reaching the chicane, which resulted in both of us making it through in one piece with no contact & no penalty. 👍

Also congrats to jjaisli who managed to stay in touch with hmh & MHailwood, thereby picking up the "Fastest Human Trophy" for the event. 👍

 Just be lucky AlanG has taken a break. Back at the beginning of the classic series, while leading the race at Hockenheim, he had the audacity and dexterity, to go into the XMB and send a message in text chat because somebody left their mic on and it was giving off a lot of feedback, obviously bothering him a great deal. And through it all, he never drove off the road or lost a position. In fact, he barely slowed down! Although, I think for a few seconds, he stopped pulling away from the rest of the field at such a disturbing rate. It remains, quite possibly, the most outrageous act of alien like ability I've ever seen in online play.

Perhaps new_soul was trying to do the same thing and just couldn't quite cope with the taxing demands of navigating a chicane and XMB text chat at the same time. :sly:

It IS annoying. During the Miami race, I went off at least once because it flashed right when I was braking for the first left hander, leaving the oval. :ouch: It's a nice feature but it needs to be a bit more subtle.

Considering I finished the feature race ~25 seconds behind Hailwood & the Sprint race ~12 seconds behind mhm, I'm not sure if 'staying in touch' is the right way to put it. I think my step on the podium should have been much lower. But thanks!

Just posted a request, last night, in Eutechnix Forum,so hopefully they can fix it.💡

 I will never forget that episode...it was the ultimate proof of Alan alien skills:ill::eek::crazy::boggled:

AlanG has taken a break.

I was hoping he might join the challenge party, wold be interesting to se how far we all could push the old car under werry competitive conditions, no doubt he wold be hart to beat and sontimes even hard to folow, he makes no mistakes, atleast less than anybody else:tup:

Perhaps new_soul was trying to do the same thing and just couldn't quite cope with the taxing demands of navigating a chicane and XMB text chat at the same time. :sly:

Next time i may try that :) not a promise :sly:

Firstly, I have to say that no, I didn't read through all 12 pages. But I did read the first post! So, if there is room and if there won't come anything that would prevent my participating for the next race, I would like to join you guys.

So, what kind of laptimes should I be aiming for in Mont Tremblant? :)

+1:tup:

I'm glad you liked the game Lassi:)

Just check the Hall of Fame Leaderboards with this car in that track(don't be scared with top 3 times) :scared::dopey:

Hi vompatti and velcome.
So you finaly got your copy:)
As I cant make it for the next round there's at least one vacant spot.
About laptimes.Under 1:45 at Mont Tremblant in this car wont leave you hopelessly behind. The top was yesterday around 1:40.

Since you just got the game you'll need to open and buy the car if you wont to make a set-up for the race.I know that the default setup is at least 3 sec slower than setup.

But what ever your pace is (asume that you keep the car on track)it's allways fun in these event, and that's the purpose.Good clean races.:)

Thanks. Yeah, it finally arrived.

As I got the game today, so far I've only driven tutorials through and 3/4 of arcade difficulties and one online race. I did buy 348 Challenge, keeping in mind learning the car if there is room in the event. So I drove with that those Arcade events that I've driven so far. One of them included Mont Tremblant and I was lapping in there with the default setup low 1:45 - mid 1:44, so let's hope that I'm off to a good start. I might have to come to ask some advice on the tuning though (like where I can find it! :))

Glad to hear you'll be joining us Vompatti. As several people won't make the next round, I'm pretty sure we'll have room for you. 👍 If you're already lapping in the 1:44s with a stock setup, I'm sure you'll do fine.

As for the rest of you, I now have to petition the rest of the teams that have taken part in the first two rounds of the 348 Challenge series. I hereby request your acceptance of a name change for my team. As of today, under present circumstances, it no longer makes sense to call my team "Forza G25". It's open, but I'm thinking Forza G27 makes the most sense. And has a nice ring to it.

See you online... :sly:

Edit: I see several people have either posted a time or set an improved time at Mont Tremblant. 👍 Well done guys.

1) I would like everybody to post a picture of their car livery.

I couldn't drive today, so I spent my time otherwise. This is probably my choice of livery. Unless I get another day without the possibility to drive and do some other livery :) Numbers are naturally dynamic.

Wow! Very nice!

EDIT: Just had 2 quick races with the 348 at Mont Tremblant with New_Soul, MHailwood, L449KUX, Donlimpio and a couple of Spanish guys. One thing was very clear to me. MT is great track but it sure isn't the easiest place to pass. During the first race I was following behind KUX, less than 1.5 second off his bumper for 3 & 1/2 laps. I was maybe a little bit faster but not much. And there was just nowhere to get around him. The only reason I was finally able to get past was he made a small mistake. Likewise, Hailwood took nearly 3 laps to get around me, while I was behind Kux. A word of advice: If you can be precise enough not to make any mistakes, qualifying during the feature race is going to be very important.

During the second race there was a lot of banging going on at the 2nd corner complex. I lost 2 positions after being nudged which I was able to make up again and found myself in the lead before the end of the first lap. On lap 3 (of 7) Hailwood worked his way to second. He was about 7 seconds behind me at the start of lap 3 and at the end of the race I crossed the line with him ~ 2 seconds behind me. :scared: And I was putting in laps in the low to mid 1:41s. My final lap was a 1:40.73 (red) It would have been my PB. :( His fastest lap was in the high 1:39s. Talk about intimidation.

At any rate, geat racing guys! 👍 Always a pleasure.

yeah it was an exellent race jjaisli, i could feel both you and hailwood breathing down my neck and was flicking franticly to my rear veiw to see just how close you two were (too close lol) ultimately looking behind was my downfall as i outbreaked myself and fell off the track... (the pressure got to me) hahaha :)

but yeah, its a really hard circut to pass and for me personally there are three very tricky corners, running wide on just one and positions could be lost. its going to be one heck of a good race in all aspects :)

^^^
2nd race, 2nd corner complex, got comfused, which button is the brakes, as i was swiching back from default controler configuration...
..and that helped ne to push Jeff ofline and bump Hailwood in to a high speed drift which led to a crash.. sorry guys :) My bad :dunce:

still having controler disconnect issues, i think it's the usb hub,..:scared:

It was YOU?:lol::lol: I didn't even realize. And here I was ready to blame the Spanish Sim Racing Mafia. ;)

I thought the controller worked wirelessly, even when plugged in, no? The USB hub shouldn't effect it in that sense.

Yes indeed! As I was fiddling around with my tuning I realised that there are very few hard braking sections in this track. Actually, just the one right-hander before the Start-Finish line.

Mount Tremblant is about as different from Redwood Park as it is possible to get. Redwood is all about braking... and MT is all about... um... er... some sort of metaphysical-mystical-potatohead-groove-thing. Where to go fast is to be slow, and vice-versa! My best laps have so far been on my outlap when I've barely been paying attention!

Don't get me wrong I've come to like the track in the last few days, but I have yet to fully comprehend what it takes to be really quick on it. :nervous:

Yep! One of the trickyiest tracks in the game and bares two of the most challenging sections to drive fast:scared: the ones after and before the finish line:crazy:
It's also probably the track where mistakes cost more time(speccialy in the long downhill right hander just after the finish line):grumpy:

"Mystical-potatoehead-groove-thing". Nice explanation! You've gotta be a Joe Satriani fan like myself!

Its going to be a close race. If you can do a low 1.41 consistently you have a very good chance of winning. Qualifying is going to be very important due to the lack of passing places.
