Haha, at all these JJ's. Our own JJ has many personalities! I have to say, that watching that video posted by Miguel made me laugh out loud. Look, it's Jeff there singing his heart out...!

Hmmf! Well, one small reason, among others, that I feel compelled to discourage the use of my real name in the forum was due to this horrific video, which seems to follow me around. (Those who have kids, have probably already heard it):irked::ouch::yuck:

As if I just randomly fall asleep everywhere. AS IF!

Coincidently, there has been the odd occasion on the track where I've been side by side with Jeff going into a braking zone. While braking hard car has The Wiggles and because of the blind spots I've been asking myself that very question. Where the F%&K is Jeff!!

 👍 And now you know. Apparently, asleep at the wheel. :sly:

But hey, it's a 20 lap race. A quick power-nap down the Kemmel straight will leave one nice and refreshed going into Les Combes. (:scared:)

Alan must be taking some sort of superpower-nap to get down to a low 2'29!

Been trying a few things but haven't yet managed to break into the 2'30s.

I don't know... But I can tell you that yesterday he was considering eating a sandwich while racing in Fuji with the Elise 111R in N1's (on GT5p). That even beats that time when he was texting Jef while racing in SCC...

(What colour do you think his skin is? Green? Gray?)

Yeah, tell me about it. :indiff: I came on (late) last night, played some more with my setup and did about 15~20 laps in TT. I managed a couple of laps down in the low 2:31s, a few in the high 2:30s (all red) and after hitting my current PB of 2:30.68, called it a night. I had at least 3 laps where I was on this pace or close to it but through my own driving errors, managed to lose it again before the finish line. For me, getting a time down in the mid 2:30s was a bit lucky because it requires immense concentration and being able to hit every corner and apex just right. And with such a long track, it's nearly impossible for me to do with any regularity. On that lap (and a few others) I was really in the 'zone' and totally on it. You know those times where every corner just seems to be flowing into the next like milk pouring into a glass. 👍 Ahhh! It's so beautiful when it happens. :sly: So how Alan is pulling almost a full second just blows me away.

In any event, I think high 2:31s and low 2:32s is more realistic "race pace" to shoot for. When I was driving like this, it was really 'on the edge'.

What didn't help was that on my 3rd lap, I screwed up the entry to Radillion (by going wide) and getting a red lap. But it's fast. And by doing so you can easily pull about 0.3~0.4 by the end of the Kemmel. So every lap after that, I saw my time at -0.4 going into Les Combes and had to really push to make it up.

EDIT:

Did 2 hour's of practice this morning.
Just to see what toe settings to use.+25 front and back is quickest (2:29:66) but somewhat unstable.-25 front and back is more stabble but a little slower(2:29:97)

It's a long straight at Fuji. If you get it straight enough, it's pretty easy to take 1 bite per lap, or maybe two.

My surname is 'Greene', so I believe the standard joke would be "Ah, green skin!".

I just tried these too. I started with +25, but I found it quite hard to drive. Then went to -25, felt really easy to drive and quite quick too, but then I noticed that it was 2'31 that I was beating, not 2'30... Well, I got a better time, but still in the 2'30s. Went back to +25, but it still didn't quite work for me.

So in the end, I decided to go back to my own previous setup. That did work better for me, and I was able to do 2'29.56

Edit: I know it wont stay up there for no longer than the next time when Alan or Henrik does their practice session, but it was quite nice to clock in the fastest lap atm. I think it was my first :)

Ok You guys seem determined to make me feel like if I was driving this:

:grumpy::ouch::scared::ill::irked: :dunce:

against powerfull supercars...

:embarrassed::lol:;)

Great times guys,only at reach for a few,I'm sure.👍

Ugh! You guys are relentless!

Thanks jjaisli! SCC used to be a refuge for the the amateur (incompetent) gentleman racer, but NOW ... we've got THIS! :ouch:

It's like running the wrong way up an escalator, & the faster you run, the faster the escalator goes... :ill:

Perhaps it was a mistake to allow setup changes

:) I know, I know. But I think if I were to do it all again, I wouldn't make any changes. It was a little different with the Old Timer races where we jumped around a little bit. And trying to tune the car for 4~5 different tracks would have proved very daunting. At least for me. But in the Challenge series with one track per race weekend and the races taking place only every other week, there's plenty of time for everybody to find a decent set-up that suits their style and the track. Some guys are certainly a bit better at it but the point is, everybody has the same opportunity.

And let's face it, there will always be some guys who are faster than others. And that was the case when we raced with stock setups as well. But I think by planning this series out in advance and by giving everybody the chance to practice and fine tune both their cars and themselves, the competition has been much tighter than it otherwise would be just playing on a bunch of random tracks. And doing some practice laps and discovering what works, what doesn't, what suits your style and allows you to push the car, has added an exciting and interesting element, building up to the race.

Of course, looking at the lap times, it's sometimes a let down as well.

They're some good laps by Vompatti and Henrik. I like the way they purposely did those times to make the leaderboard in 10th sequences:

x'xx.56
x'xx.66
x'xx.76

"We're not only going to beat your time Alan, but we will also make it exactly 1 tenth and 2 tenths faster".

My surname is 'Greene', so I believe the standard joke would be "Ah, green skin!".

There was an Alan Green on national radio yesterday. He works for the Council was talking about a major Watermains incident in Dublin where a pipe burst and cut off supply to thousands of homes.

You don't have a problem with your pipes Alan, do you?? :)

Different person, and no water problem for me, although during the winter there very much was a water problem here (produce of the Celtic Tiger, yeah.)

After my league match with Redgate last night I took the opportunity to run a few practice laps with the F355c.

I went with the "Loose but Fast" option with a +25 front and rear toe and managed to improve my time by a second, ending up with a 2'30.42. Still a bit to go to join the 2'29 gang but they're in sight!!

THE EVENT
Those familiar with Supercar Challenge and have taken part in the 348 Challenge series or previous 355 Challenge races, understand this game's features and play system have a good idea of what to expect. As a reminder to those returning and as a note to those new to the event GTPlanet's OLR Rules apply. Please click here to read them in their entirety. Some of the rules listed do not apply specifically to this game. But most of them should be simple common sense.

I will first open a PSN Text Chat room under my PSN ID: jjaisli approximately 5~10 minutes before the event starts and will first send invites to those on my buddy list who are on-line and have expressed an interest in joining this series. You must first join the text chat to take part in the race. If anybody new would like to join, provided there's space in the lobby (16 players or less), you're more than welcome. Just send me a PSN message and I'll send you an invite in return. However, considering the points will carry over from one event to the next, I would like to encourage those who want to join this series to try and show up for every race. Once everybody is securely in the text chat room, I will open a private lobby in Supercar Challenge and then send invites to those already in the next chat window.

LOBBY CONDITIONS
TC: Off
ABS: Off
SC: Off
RL: Off
Transmission: Automatic (which will allow you to choose manual, semi or full auto)
Collisons: Off after penalty except during qualifying (see below for details)
Penalties: unlimited
Setup Restrictions: NONE! You're free to set up the car as you wish.
Grid Order: * see below

QUALIFYING

We will have a two lap qualifying session before the feature race in order to determine grid order. For the first lap, please start off immediately to avoid a penalty but then drive moderately until you build a gap of a least 4~5 seconds to the car in front of you. However, I ask that the first person on the grid, set off at a 'quick' pace to avoid stragglers on his flying lap, who are still trying to build a gap. The second time time across the start/finish line will be your one and only qualifying lap. Collisions will be off during qualifying. If for some reason you have an accident or fall off the track, PLEASE continue your lap and do not go back to the lobby. The following Sprint Race will be run in reverse finishing order from the feature race! Qualifying could be run in either wet or dry conditions and will be chosen at Random before the event starts. Keep it on the track and try to avoid RED laps, which will relegate you to the back of the grid.

As a final word of warning, especially to any newcomers. Larger lobbies almost always suffer some kind of connection problem, the most common being 2 or more players not being able to successfully connect together in the lobby. However, there is a work-around. I encourage EVERYBODY to read through this thread and take appropriate steps. Even if you believe your connection is fast/secure/quick/trouble free, etc, you may unwittingly be preventing somebody else from joining.

As a reminder to everybody, this will not only be the final race of the 1996 F355 Challenge series, but it will likely be my last 'official' organized event. So if you'd like to take part of 'old time sake' or this is your very first race in one of my events, please come on and join us. The lobby's waiting. :D

hi guys, its been a long time :D.

if there is space i'd like to have a go at this event, sony just sent me back my copy of SCC.

i have no idea about the setup of this car, so if i am no where near your pace i will try and stay towards the back. its just a fun experience! will be sad to see you stopping jeff :(

Hard roll bars, everything else soft, max camber, I use min/max ride, plenty of positive front toe, and mix around the rear to suit.

The main thing is just to get used to the game again. Stick on a good 20 practice laps and you'll get back in the swing.

...and managed to improve my time by a second, ending up with a 2'30.42. Still a bit to go to join the 2'29 gang but they're in sight!!
Well done Derek. I'm comfortable with my set up now, which is a bit conservative and I won't have enough practice time left to change it further. As such, I won't be going for ultimate lap times anymore. But needless to say, I'll be keeping a close eye on your pace and no doubt we'll meet up on the track at some point. :)

Good to see you back, Turner. You haven't taken part in any of the F355 rounds but as I know Hun_200kmh & GTP_bullie77 chickened out, I mean, can't make it, :D you're almost guaranteed a spot in the lobby. A few others who haven't taken part have expressed interest so just make sure you get there on time.

I'm not sure I really agree with this. Everything else, yes.
