Thanks Henrick nice compliment ,specially coming from you,but I guess it was a lucky shot:guilty: tonight I was doing some laps in TT and got very frustrated because my best lap(out of 10) was 1,59,89 and I was asking myself how the heck I've managed to do less two seconds yesterday:ouch: ,guess it was the inspiration of wathing Le Mans for countless hours:)

The corners before the straights make all the difference...if you take them wrong the lap is lost but when occasionaly I can get them just right the split time keeps droping until the next breaking zone

hi
I know what you mean. This is actually my hate track no.1.With all those straight's it's so easy to make mistakes. If you miss the breaking point you'll get a penalty or ruin the exit and loose the time on the next straight. On this track I think the person who wins will be the one with the least penalty.

1'57! Someone get a hold on this man!

Great lap time! Congratulations.

As for me still struggling to get under the 2 minute mark (2'00''04). I'm seeking inspiration also on the Le Mans Audi team (3 seconds + slower per lap = smashing win! :dopey:)

Agreed the race will be about consistency...no point in doing a great lap, when to achieve it one has to do 5 or 6 lousy ones trying to break in the edge and loosing it:nervous:

I'am also trying to figure out a more confortable setup for the Wet.

Congrats Arvore!!!!!!👍 Very well done:D That is without a doubt very fast
I sat down yesterday morning to see what I could do and the best I was able to put down was 1:58.14 ..... 1:57's is simply amazing.

Exchanging kudos :sly:
You're only a couple of tenths away from it:D amazingly fast:tup: my problem lies in doing under 2.00 min. laps one after an other rather than 1/10 doing 2,03 and 2,04 each time I make a mistake for pushing too hard:nervous:

Yeah sure, but in Le Mans the thing was even worse... how come they make 3 times the same error?! It was clear that they were pushing those engines too far and too long (hell race lap times were faster than qualifying times!)

At consistency, my laps are between low 2'02'' and mid 2'01''.

I was managing consistent 59's throughout a 20 lap practice session with only having one spin out..... hopefully I can duplicate this:nervous::indiff::grumpy:

Damn arvore! Usually I can count on you for some company during a Challenge race. Looks like I'll be bringing up the rear. :indiff:

:dopey:And I'm sure you will,as I said I believe it was a lucky strike with every corner coming toghether perfectly I don't believe it I am able to do it again:nervous:
Gonna work in consistent under 2.00 minutes lap, maybe You'll care to join tonight...but before 4.oo am:sly:

Hi guys
Now you all crawl out off the woodwork to practice. When I turned the ps3 on this afternoon there was nobody to race.So I had some time to pratice in TT(sorry arvore)
and then took 2 quick races in the wet.The first I was going after laptimes (2:02:67)
and won by 18 sec over 7 laps, and then I did 7 laps where I played it safe with no penalty and no red laps.Won by almost 50 sec with fastest 2:02:97.So consistency is the priority.

Hey Henrick more work on the way for you:sly:
We just did a couple of races(mostly wet) and the usual suspect just breaked the 1,57 barrier:crazy:👍👍👍

Nah, I mentioned in the text-chat that the 56.90 was a red lap. I clipped a fraction of red zone at the 2nd chicane left-apex. I'd say it gained around a tenth compared to the "white" limit. But still red. Rest of the lap was pretty solid though; all white I'm sure. I did a white 57.2 I think, clear-air.

I'd say a white, clear-air 1'56 is possible. The 2nd chicane is a big time saver/loser. And also braking into the Parabolica - some time found there.

Hi arvore
Well I dont compare my times with people who uses pad(just kidding)
I've been up by almost 7 tenth on my PB but havn't been able to hold it to the end. With some more practice maby.

Nah, I mentioned in the text-chat that the 56.90 was a red lap. I clipped a fraction of red zone at the 2nd chicane left-apex.

Ahh. I missed that. That 2nd chicane, Variante della Roggia, has a very odd penalty/red zone. It seems like you can judiciously ride the curb on the left side going in (as drivers do in real life) but you have to be very careful about getting up on the curb on the right side on your exit. And as such, it really compromises your speed because if you go in too hot, you end up putting your wheels off on the left side of the track when approaching the first lesmo. So it seems to me that you can take more curb on the left than you can on the right. Although, perhaps it's just the angle, as I normally drive from dash view and the view is canted to the left. But there are curbs (sleeping policeman) on the right side and you can't get anywhere even close to them before having the lap discounted. One really has to thread the needle through there and a tighter line on entry is the way to go.

In contrast, the first chicane really allows you to get high on the curbs and stay 'white' but if you really cut the chicane it will be red. And if you come close to doing so, you're losing time anyway. But thank goodness if you try and straight line it, you'll get a penalty. That was a major issue I had with Ferrari Challenge. The leaderboard times in FC were completely useless because of this.

Anyway, great racing with you guys last night, I had a lot of fun. I felt a bit badly as I hit pickr from behind at least 3 times. I waited but I'm guessing he wasn't too happy with me. I actually hit him a 4th time, although this was really not my fault. He was already mid spin when I couldn't stop and clouted him, but I waited anyway. I'm not sure if he was just braking very early or we had an issue with lag but I kept getting massively caught out when braking behind him. Sorry about that. :ouch::crazy: Otherwise, I was using the last race we did as a test (TT) session, trying different lines and different gears through the corners. If I'm 'on it' I can put in pretty consistent high 1:58s but there's some time to be gained by really stringing it all together and I'm pretty sure if I spend some time fine tuning in TT, I can get down into the 1:57s and be more consistent with my laps.

My best lap in the wet was a 2:03.00 flat, which I'm pretty happy with since I wasn't sure how my setup would work in those conditions.

And welcome to the 1st round of the "1996" Ferrari F355 Challenge Season from Monza.

Ferarri_challenge.png

This event will start at 20:00 GMT on Sunday, June 20th, 2010 at 20:00 GMT. Remember, GMT does NOT take summer time into account so please double check your local time! However, should the Brazil ~ Ivory Coast World Cup game run long, we will delay the start of this race accordingly.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

QUALIFYING: 2 laps - conditions 50% dry/wet chosen at random
RACE 1 (Feature Race): - 20 Laps - Dry
RACE 2 (Sprint Race): 15 Laps - Wet

800px-Monza_track_map.svg.png

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This information is already posted on the first page but I'm also reposting it here for the convenience of any newcomers. If you're not familiar with the rules for this event, please read carefully! Please also remember that GTPlanet's OLR Rules apply. Please click here to read them in their entirety. Some of the rules listed do not apply specifically to this game. But most of them should be simple common sense.

I will first open a PSN Text Chat room under my PSN ID: jjaisli approximately 5~10 minutes before the event starts and will first send invites to those on my buddy list who are on-line and have expressed an interest in joining this series. You must first join the text chat to take part in the race. If anybody new would like to join, provided there's space in the lobby (16 players or less), you're more than welcome. Just send me a PSN message and I'll send you an invite in return. However, considering the points will carry over from one event to the next, I would like to encourage those who want to join this series to try and show up for every race. Once everybody is securely in the text chat room, I will open a private lobby in Supercar Challenge and then send invites to those already in the text chat window.

LOBBY CONDITIONS
TC: Off
ABS: Off
SC: Off
RL: Off
Transmission: Automatic (which will allow you to choose manual, semi or full auto)
Collisons: Off after penalty except during qualifying (see below for details)
Penalties: unlimited
Setup Restrictions: NONE! You're free to set up the car as you wish.
Grid Order: * see below

QUALIFYING

We will have a two lap qualifying session before the feature race in order to determine grid order. For the first lap, please start off immediately to avoid a penalty but then drive moderately until you build a gap of a least 4~5 seconds to the car in front of you. However, I ask that the first person on the grid, set off at a 'quick' pace to avoid stragglers on his flying lap, who are still trying to build a gap. The second time time across the start/finish line will be your one and only qualifying lap. Collisions will be off during qualifying. If for some reason you have an accident or fall off the track, PLEASE continue your lap and do not go back to the lobby. The following Sprint Race will be run in reverse finishing order from the feature race! Qualifying could be run in either wet or dry conditions and will be chosen at Random before the event starts. Keep it on the track and try to avoid RED laps, which will relegate you to the back of the grid.

As a final word of warning, especially to any newcomers. Larger lobbies almost always suffer some kind of connection problem, the most common being 2 or more players not being able to successfully connect together in the lobby. However, there is a work-around. I encourage EVERYBODY to read through this thread and take appropriate steps. Even if you believe your connection is fast/secure/quick/trouble free, etc, you may unwittingly be preventing somebody else from joining.

And with special thanks to Bruno Renier, my Patron Racing, F355 Challenge is ready to go.

See you soon... :)👍

* Edit: I realize of course everybody is excited about all the wonderful GT5 news from E3, as am I. But it will still be > 4 months before we get our hands on it. And so in the meantime, this series will continue and I hope those who participate will continue to enjoy it.

Jeff,

But tell me, who made this beautiful livery LOL
cool with the logo "Tequila Patron

You have to read the fine print in my post above:

And with special thanks to Bruno Renier, my Patron Racing, F355 Challenge is ready to go.

I have to tell you, working with layer restrictions is horrible. :yuck: I had spent a lot of time and put such detailed work in the Patron wording with black lines and shadow. But it took up over 40 layers. :indiff: So I had to get rid of most of it. I was under the misguided impression that if you grouped content together it would be treated as 1 layer.

I also wanted to do a scaled down version of "Patron" on the side of the car. But (1) I again had a problem with too many layers and had to reduce the detail. Which in the end, didn't look as nice. And then (2) I had a problem grouping it and then resizing it. For some reason there was a bug and it would not allow me to resize it on the side of the car no matter how many times I redid it. It was almost the size of the bee on the side and it looked ridiculous. I was working on it long into the night and I finally just gave up. What's more, I also had no room for a Michelin logo and some other Ferrari Challenge Series logos I wanted to put on the side. :indiff: Much of what I set out to accomplish didn't work simply because of the layer limits. Quite frustrating. But in the end, it probably looks much cleaner, much nicer like this, more like an art car and less like a moving advertisement as most race cars do. And of course, I preferred to have your bee than my Patron lettering. As an afterthought, I put it in the side window, which I guess looks OK but it wasn't the effect I was hoping for. :indiff:

But I thank you again for your beautiful work. Your bee looks MUCH nicer than mine. I hope you don't mind that I did some color changes and resizing. :)

* Edit: So what's the story Bruno? Are you actually going to take part in these races... ;)

I realized, that I have to give special thanks to YLOD. Thanks to that I lost all of my liveries :grumpy: (Ok, my fault that my back-up wasn't up to date.) Well, Falken wasn't any good for a car that is supposed to run on Pirelli's anyways... :P
