and mine will be N/A SR20VE powered. Different!

Just a stupid random question: Wouldn't a turbo charged FA20/4U-GSE be close in terms of weight to an LS2? I mean, with all the necessary additions like an intercooler, the turbo itself and all the piping... I remember hearing that the LS engines compare to the SR20DET in terms of weight, actually, so it shouldn't make a huge difference in comparison to a turbo charged BRZ/GT86/FR-S engine, right?

And nobody seems to get angry at all the folks strapping turbos to their BreezeFrees...

Well its a turbo and not an engine of a totally different kind. Of course, I do find the whole "OMG, how could you do that??!!" Attitude regarding engine swaps to be...slightly overboard. Then again, I know HEMiata (on top of repeatidly seeing alot of vastly different Engine swaps, some including fords in Chevys and Chevys in Dodges) so that kinda tones down the "OMG!" factor for me.

Also, someone put a V10 in that Breezefreeze 86. Just in the interest of science and education.

Dunno. I mean, I can see where someone comes from if he's worried about the weight, center of gravity, weight distribution being messed up, as that's basically what the ZN6/ZC6 is all about... Otherwise, it just seems like brand loyality - which isn't something I can wrap my head around, either way :sly:

I can be pretty brand loyal myself but sometimes if theres a superior engine that you cant get from a certain manufacturer then id gladly find something else for it.
Plus some cars just seem like they deserve engine swaps .

For people how worry about weight power output and price you can't beat an LS
Also the 2014 LT1 is a masterpiece

Well, there's a reason they're pretty popular, eh? :D
Not that there's a good reason for everything that's popular, but in this case, it seems that way. There seem to be few better ways to get a decent amount of power for a relatively low amount of money without sacrificing relaibility - and it works with almost anything, too :D

Although, I, myself, am kinda partial to Nissan's VK45DE, due to its GT500 heritage. But there certainly is no arguing that "LSx into anything" is quite a viable train of thought ;)

Gotta read up on the LT1, though. Went over my head entirely.

I too like the VK45.

Here's some food for thought.

But it was Road & Track did an article on the new LT1 but the the thing they point out
is that Chevy's small block is very small in comparison to other similarly powerful overhead cam V8's .
Infact if you outline the engine looking at it from the front the entire outline fits inside of the outline of a 2012 BMW 4.4 twin turbo V8 and the Chevy's 6.2 liters

If the LSx works for an RX7, it'll work for an 86. Porsche engines should fit. But if you're going that way, why not the 3.8?

That Vette phpto is funny. Reminds me of a guy on another board who swapped a D15 into his Protege, insisting it was a much better motor than his Mazda 1.6 because he was planning on turbocharging it.

See the mixed reaction from the LS2 swappped BRZ, Today I got something a little different.....

-> Isn't it Orido did the 1st transplanted BreezeFrees-86?

I posted that in the Questionable modifications thread the other day.
It surprise me that somebody like it.

Oh no no!
I just wrote "eyecandy" in a sarcastic way, but I forgot the sarcasm doesn't work on the internetz. :ouch:

Since I don't know a thing about engine swaps, I thought it was the ontly one that would fit. Looks like I'm wrong. :)

I wouldn't see why not. And would be 100x more interesting than an LSx.

I know, 2 times the power (and torque) while keeping the low center of gravity.

Hmm, I see the connection obviously but without forced induction it'll have less power than stock. :odd:

It's meant as a joke. Though those are the first pics I see of Pat's new car looking like a car, which has me wondering what he has in store for next summer.

Don't rightly know if the flat sixes will fit. While a V8 is slightly longer, that is narrower and can clear components on the side (and the LS is not a tall engine, so the traditional problems with hood clearance are not there).

A flat six might fit one way, but may have clearance issues with body structure where the engineers didn't expect an engine to be. I know the sixes fit the Impreza, but I don't know how much smaller the 86 bay is.

I think that I like the Wald bodykit now. Looks very nice and aggressive at the same time. Perfect for a daily or for the track.

But I want TRD to do something else to the FR-S/GT86 than the kit and upgrades they go out.

Maybe a TRD 2000R or something like that. 💡
