I dont' think I've ever seen a car which can be done so right by some modders but so, so wrong by others.

I'm yet to see a kit on the 86 that I'd honestly pick over just the standard car. Beginning to think it's one of those vehicles that's pretty much done after a set of nice wheels and a bit of a drop.

Oh, and just for a laugh: GT 86 shooting brake...

Apparently so. And that's probably my favourite of the tuner cars so far. Completely different vibe to it than the rest of them.

Though those black arches would look better if they continued into the side skirt. Nothing a bit of painting or a vinyl wrap couldn't sort.

@ homeforsummer. Yep, it's my favourite of the tuner versions so far as well, and i agree about the continuation of the arches (can live with the front one's, but the rear definitely needs that bit more).

@ R1600. I didn't realise they were still doing stuff either (TOM'S Chaser was one of my favourite cars in GT). Apparently they've done an engine swap too, (though i imagine it may unsettle the balance of the car, COG etc)... they're using the 2GR-FSE 3.5L V6 (Lexus IS and GS 350), it puts out 395hp along with 456Nm of torque, it also has a TOM's reinforced clutch etc. The thing's i really like though, are the TOM'S wheels and rear lights.

[EDIT]
Few more pics and article from Carscoop:

See, if you're gonna do a motor swap, that's how to do it.

Might want to check my signature haha
I just haven't heard anything from them in....forever.

At 1ness

I'm loving this kit! And like everyone is saying, it does something different than the rest of the kits out there, even though some are real nice.

Now I wonder if TOM'S is going to do a GT86/FR-S in a performance upgrade like they done with the MKIV Supra (TOM'S Supra), the MR2 SW (TOM'S TS20) and the Chaser JZX 💡

I'm seeing maybe a revised 3SGTE engine or a new engine built with the 3SG in mind (4SGE or 4SGTE) that pushes 330-380hp to the rear wheels and 320-370ft-lbs of torque matted to the 6spd auto and manual transmission. And include a sporty spoiler to gain some downforce to the rear and built chassis and suspension for the new power output.

Call it TOM'S GT30 maybe?

Agreed. A two tone would look real retro, especially with those rims. 👍

Did someone seriously just make some LF-A body panels for this car?

I'm not even sure facedesk would be enough to describe how terrible it is.

This is enough. Stop ruining 86s!!

(The idea was good but execution really poor.)

The mistake they made was to try and emulate the LFA exactly. It could look really good if they had taken inspiration from the Lexus yet made the kit somewhat original.

And then eminembeastfan2 pulls up next to both of them in his Camry 2.2 and beats them in a drag race.

He then receives a speeding ticket because he can't figure out how fast he's going thanks to the uneven ticks in his speedometer.

Now how awkward would it be if a real LFA pulled up next to it at a traffic light.

I'm seeing the scene right........ NOW!👍

Then eminembeastfan will say to the officer, "I was racing one of dem LFAs yo! Those slow cars couldn't take da beast 2.2L yo, so I hooked up mah NAWZ and turbo to ultra speeds and beat dem rich boyz!"

"Felt like I was in the Fast and the Furious G biscuit!"
