One of the better BRZ custom jobs, IMHO: Prova subaru BRZ Black Edition

Oh, I missed that! Not an original design, then. I actually like that one better, because the wing is a bit excessive.

Yes much better on the BE without the spoiler. Im really just waiting for the Sti, I expect a great deal of enthusiasm from that car.

Big announcement coming?

Something big is coming to The Chicago Auto Show, and we’ve got a sneak peek. Check back in next Thursday for all the details on the Toyota Racing announcement!

It would seem fairly likely that the FR-S would replace the tC in the long-standing Toyota Celebrity Grand Prix that they hold in Long Beach every year. You know, the one that used to have the Celicas, and real celebrities racing.

That sound you hear is Mazda's Product Planning team fainting dead away.

Oh boy will this be interesting...

Maybe it's the 86 cup car that they are running in Japan and will be doing a FRS cup type thing in the States?

I agree. I wonder if it's just for the Continental Tire Challenge series or that Toyota Celebrities race. I wonder if they have anything planned for the ALMS.

Every time I see an FR-S or BR-Z in person I feel just disappointed. It looks so...average, especially in the lighter colors that seem to be most popular. They had such an opportunity to make a truly beautiful car with the proportions that car has, and they screwed it up with very bad detailing. When I see a post-facelift RX-8, a sight just as rare, they are truly beautiful cars. I think Maserati more than Mazda. And the FR-S just looks so...Scion. Maybe they will facelift it to be actually pretty one day...

I am understanding where you are coming from. These are my opinions but, I think that they have done brilliantly with the styling on the current car. It's the predecessor to the original 86. The original 86 was no "look at me I'm a sports car" look to it. It looks like your everyday hatchback for driving Tofu to a different town and back. :dopey: So, I think they have done a really good job at it.

Biggest mistake Toyota made with the car is selling it under the Scion Brand and without the 86 name on it. Most people who don't know the history behind this car won't buy it. They don't understand the point of a sports car with only 200HP. The people that do understand the point and history of the car, want it with the 86 name and under the Toyota name.

That's just it though, the new car is trying way too hard to look like an exotic sports car. The new car, by your logic, would look somewhat like a Jetta, Forte, or Civic. Something understated. Mostly, I think they did a decent job with the front, but the rear looks awful.

The OE design has grown on me quite a bit. I'm liking the rear fender bulges and the side profile overall. It's not a terrible car, and looks good in time attack/race trim.

Yes sir! GT4 car, is it me or does it look a lot wider than the regular car?

I wouldn't say a lot but, a wider body sure makes a difference. Probably runs slightly wider wheels as well considering the wheels it comes with stock are as narrow as a pencil.

-> Here's my rant about the SubieYota Conv/Cabrio, isn't that there is a saying that "a car that is built an open-top in the first place is far better than a coupe converted into an open-top?" I think I got that quote from Top Gear UK when they tested the Audi TT, 350Z, & Crossfire Roadsters...since these coupe-based roadster doesn't bode well when the top is chopped off most of the time.

Dedicated Open-Top Roadsters
- Mazda MX-5/Miata/Roadster
- Honda S600/S800/S2000
- Porsche Boxster
- Mercedes-Benz SLK
- Fiat Barchetta
- BMW Z1/Z3/Z4

Converted to Roadsters/Conv./Cabrios
- Nissan Z
- Audi TT
- Chrysler Crossfire
- Chevy Corvette
- VW Beetle (Typ.1 to New-New)
- Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG

-> And I don't think this SubieYota can pull it through either, light as it is...weight & body flex will be a potential issue.
