I like that color well enough on the Tacoma, looks great on the FR-S as well. Would be nice if an interior trim similar to that became optional on the "standard" cars as well.

It's about time the Scion gets those LEDs from the Toyota.
It's about time they all got some DRLs that don't look like they've been bought in 2006. Again, the aftermarket is offering so much cooler stuff for the 86/etc at the moment.

@Grandea GTR

It's been done.

H6 is very wide so I'm not sure if the steering geometry is compromised when the extra length is factored in. The way I see it is like this. A turbo 4 and a n/a 6 will likely be making about the same power. They also will likely be about the same weight. The 6 gives up a little extra balance (due to it's longer width) but retains the responsiveness of the n/a engine. The turbo 4 still gives up some balance (more weight) but you also lose the response and the sound. The 6 is better all around for me, but I doubt Subaru will do it.

God that sound is amazing.

But I really doubt a turbo offsets the weight balance as much as a larger engine would. And much of what's being reported with turbo kits is that any reasonably sized one produces little to no lag, and usually spools up right where the infamous torque dip is, almost leveling it off some.

EZ30 longblock: 315lbs
EJ25T longblock: 240lbs + turbo + intercooler + plumbing = ~20lbs-100lbs, total ~260-340lbs (ballpark)

They pretty much come up to be the same. Turbochargers and the associated plumbing that comes with them are not light.

And that sound is a stock H6. Listen to this built one...

It would be more about the balance than the actual weight, for me. With a turbo system, you have the extra weight (except for the intercooler... which doesn't weigh that much, anyway) further back in the engine bay. With the H6, it's spread forward over the front axle.

It's something you definitely notice, driving two different variants of the same car, with different engine layouts, back-to-back... but then, I actually like the response and sound of the H6 better than the turbo-four.... though I've never driven the 3.0, only the 3.6.

All I want from the 86 is a 2.5 liter motor with maybe 50 Nm more torque, please, and no stupid emissions-related torque holes.

The length difference is only a couple of inches. (Talking EZ vs EJ... the EG however IS much larger)

I'm starting to think a white FR-S with a dynotune, UEL, and single exit exhaust would be pretty much perfect for me. Driving the canyon/mountain roads around here with my lowly Mazda2 makes me realize that anything with more than 250hp is probably overkill for the type of driving I enjoy most. The perfect car, in my opinion, is an Alfa Romeo 1600 Giulia GTA. Momentum, late braking, subtle oversteer, keep it pinned, repeat. (coincidentally, the Mazda 2 is a fantastic companion for this type of driving) As the Alfas are neither affordable nor really even available (not to mention reliable/durable) I think the ZN6 twins are honestly the closest thing to it that you can have with a warranty. With a solid tune and exhaust, they seem to be making gains of around 20-30whp and a much more linear torque curve. Hell they even look good with 16" wheels. All the better for attacking a road with less than ideal surface conditions.

Oh, and this gauge package.

edit: And these wheels

So I was amazed to find out that Subaru is gonna sell this thing here, finally. The guys at the mag tested the car the other day. What truly surprises me is that Toyota isn't baiting, only as a Subaru, which is odd as hell because twice as much Toyotas sell here (as well as everywhere else I'd assume). We'll see how long can Toyota resist the temptation of making money off this car in here too.

So this could be what the front of the facelifted Toyota FR-S looks like, based on the spy shots taken of the camo'd test mule going around. Seems to match current Toyota styling cues. Almost looks like the last gen Celica to me.

I don't think it will look like that. I'm very keen on seeing the facelift though. I'm almost ready to pull the trigger....

The FR-S sooo close to exactly what I want.

In other fascia news, I discovered this Baruta body kit for the ZN6. I think it's actually pretty sweet. It's subtle and elegant, even more so than either of the stock twins. The chrome trim around the side glazing has a really nice effect against the red paint. The car looks Italian somehow.

The back is significantly improved over stock.

My only gripe is that it increases the visual mass at the front of the car. But for cleaning up the rather fussy details of the stock car(s) I think it's great. That's the thing with the ZN6. Proportionally and absolute size wise, it is damn near perfection. But the stupid front end (mutton chops on the Toyota, and a mouth guard on the Subaru) and clunky looking back kind of ruin it. If the facelift is not an improvement on the current car, I might just end up getting this kit.

I feel it needs more upper grille.

Have to agree with @Sixflags48 here. It looks awkward not having the grille by the headlights.

I completely see what you mean with it looking Italian. I'm impressed with many of the bodykits available to the Sciobaruta (:sly:) and that the tuners haven't ruined the overall look, for the most part. If I was in the position to buy a new car, especially a sports car, the BRZ would be high on the list, along with this kit.

I'd be all over that if It didn't have the foglight spots. I'm sure those could be covered anyway.

It's almost like the SF-R, but with less circle.

Edit: I think the upper grille found on Toyota's larger cars (the thin one,) would fit well strung between the headlights. Might even be able to make it come off by itself to make it easier to replace the headlight assemblies.

I don't think the Camry-esque nose looks bad necessarily, but it seems a bit heavy handed for the otherwise restrained design of the car. It's a little incongruous.

Typically, I hate that new Lexus grille, but I think it works for this car. Maybe with some tweaks here or there it could be better.

That would be an upgrade in my opinion, though I'm curious how it would look if the center bit of the grille wasn't blacked out.
