Scirocco Super Lap

Brake in straight line. Turn in early. The rear will step out slightly putting you in a small slide. Wait for nose to point where you want to go and gun it.

I found that the somewhat opposite worked for this car. I don't know if maybe it's how I set it up, but for me the car's nose tightened up on the line if I gave it throttle. The first hairpin for example, I finish braking and I have the wheel cranked and it understeers while I'm off the gas, then I get on the gas and the front gains grip and tightens into the apex. That same behavior occurs in other corners as well.

I'm using Bandit's tune. If I touch the gas before the apex, the car will continue sliding out.

No way the rear of this car is going to step out running it completely stock. In my experience, I found that a precise amount of trail braking into the the turns keeps more weight in the front wheels and allows me to keep better momentum during the turn.

I have tried to induce lift over steer but can't quite get it to work. I will be playing with the rear stiffness again tonight to see if I can get it. I drive a Mazdaspeed 3 and use it for autox and have it specifically set-up to be loose in the rear. Unfortunately we do not have any control over tire pressures which can make a significant difference in how the rear end behaves on a FF car.

See SRF isn't bad. lol
it doesn't improve your driving, it doesn't stop you from spinning out, it just makes it harder to slide.
Nearest I can figure is it likes slapping on 2 or 3 level softer tires on your car.
I found that quite by accident while doing some FITT tuning I had to take a short break so I took my as is and just slapped on the sport soft tires and I started running the same lap times I had when I did some test laps with SRF on by accident.

So, with RS tires equipped and SRF enabled, you're actually on Racing Super Duper tires?

Just dropped in to the 23s with a scruffy middle sector was level with bandit till exit of first tunnel then it was like he engaged warp speed and I lost him but very happy with a 1:23.993

Holy ****! That one was difficult. 1:29.9 with completely stock car, straight from the dealership, 445pp, abs 1 only.

I hated the Scirocco at first, but now I am starting to like it.

well done on that sub 90 second lap.
I tried stock and not a scrap of that filthy ABS and even swearing at the PS3 wouldn't cure the understeer.
(It blinked the green light in Morse code... "You need a better driver" )

Tips so far are
Do your Braking in a straight line, Then do the turn in. (This alone makes sense- and should stave off my "Why am I in a Front wheel drive car?" bias.)

Any Gear and corner hints.
Drop a cog to get better power... or stay in a high gear to keep the car more stable in the turn in?

I am sure most of the gains will be nailing the "Cliff side corner" that leads up the power sapping hill to the second split. And getting the final corner can't hurt... And the out of the final tunnel banked sweeper could be better...

whats the best time u can get with a controller i can only manage a 1.24.6 with a ds3..do u have to have a wheel for lower times? what are ye using? my left thumb is blistered lol

I prefer trailbraking, fyi... and I run a weekly series with FF cars, I know a thing or two about FF.

You have to be smooth with the trailbraking. Pretty sure @BanditKarter22 did that best... Kinda why he's fastest.

I am also into trail braking for this car, especially in the first corner. I think a little bit of braking during turn in helps to weight the front down and combat a little of the understeer, making it possible to carry a little more momentum during the turn.

The one thing that got me from a 1:30.4 to a 1.29.9 with the stock car was the line I choose between turns 3 and 4. At first I was trying to connect the two corners. But then, I decided to sacrifice turn 3 a little bit, and exit really close to the wall on the right, so I could floor it thru turn 4, and brake hard for turn 5.

If I add together my best splits I think it would be possible to do a 1:29.6.

Yeah, I learned that trick in ITCC as well. It works in every car, no matter what, to try to stay wide in T2, use a portion of the concrete in T3 (or all, depending on rules of track boundaries) and then make T4 as wide as possible. I can almost take Turn 4 at like 130 km/h in some cars - and no, I don't mean the RBX cars

I think I'll upload a replay of my line and see if anyone else runs anything different.

But, for now, I can say that my line is very similar to that of the WRS Div. 1 guys...

In my description of the line I meant turn 4 is the one with the concrete, witch in the seasonal you can't run over it with the right tires. The line that was fastest for me, at least, is a bit different from the one in the video. In the turn before the one with the concrete, I exit as close as possible to the wall on the right, so I can carry the most speed on the turn with the concrete, and start braking right after its apex to avoid understeer on the tight right hander that follows.

It's similar, I'll admit, but I've been using the other line for a while, and I'm rather certain it's faster. You may want to try it, just in case... I'll try your line as well, though, just to give it a fair shot. :)

Just gave this a half assed attempt and after about a 30 min. session, got my time down to 1'24.459...137th on the board atm. I must say, this is the most funky ass handling FF car that I've driven....very weird handling indeed. :odd: I may come back to this one, but probably not. The WRS events are calling my name. :sly: Good luck to those still trying to improve.

One of my favorite cars so far is the Volkswagen Scirocco R. This car, which I always thought was 4WD, is a quite peppy and agile FWD car. I did spend some time with the racing-spec Scirocco before. That was a handful to drive! I have only managed Silver with a time of 1:31.547. Deep Forest has always been a tricky track to navigate and master. I haven't yet found the speed to get Gold with my fairly stock Scirocco R. It is a pretty good Seasonal nonetheless.

I managed a 1:29.6xx I think, without SRF and mods. Completely stock, no TCS, no aids except ABS...

...And then found out that I've lost my capture card power cable.

After trying to gold this seasonal for an hour the best I could manage was 1:30.001. I was wondering how you guys were so much faster and I ended up noticing that my car set to 460PP only has 252hp and weighs 1320kg... Is this like a glitch or something? Does anyone else have this issue?

happened again, i had sold that scirocco i got for free while ago and now i had to re-buy it...:grumpy: did the same thing for honda fit event some time ago, the prize money didnt even pay for the car.lol

to be honest i dont like FF cars, i drive one commuting to work so why do i have to drive them in the game when i get to drive my dream cars?

oh well, i gave it a shot. to my surprise, this car turns well, really well. turns better than that FT-1:P 52:48, amazing balance for an FF car!

i did some cheap tune up for this car: stage 1 weight reduction, sports com, cat converter, added 16kg at the very back to meet 460pp.

gota have custom gear box - im a gearbox guru who buys that even when all the money i have left is $20k:D
also bought custom suspension - when i try to be cheap and buy cheaper suspensions, i usually end up buying custom suspension in the end anyway so, yeah, "the cheapest solution is always the dearest solution."

tried to feel the car with all aids off. went off track twice. i forgot how unforgiving the cars when you turn off SRF! got gold on first clean lap, barely. then turned on SRF. WOW! its like GP2 to F1 difference! loads of grip, no understeer at all. after 5 laps 1:26 flat. nearly 4 seconds faster. its more performance gain than KERS & DRS combined together.lol

im having difficulty on that last super fast left hander - its a make or break corner that one. i gained half a sec if i got it right. i just cant seem to rotate the car fast enough so too much understeer or if i force it, a lot of speed loss.

do a tranny trick first, then 1st&2nd gear tallest, 6th gear shortest, rest in between, final 4.560. about 230kph max but i realise ill never get to that speed so ill make final a bit shorter.

any suggestion will be helpful.

I first tried with stage 3 weight reduction, but I was .046 seconds from gold(!) Then I put some ballast on and got the weight to a 50:50, did some engine tunes and got gold on the second try. The last turn is important to get right, you can earn alot of time there!
