Scirocco Super Lap

I feel a bit cheeky asking, but if anyone would like to recommend my tune for 'GTPlanet tune of the week' then I would be honoured and very grateful 👍

'Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/conversations/add?to=Terronium-12, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.'

Thanks everyone! :)

Thanks Bandit, I was really struggling to get past 1.31.7. The weight reduction was the key, instead of tuning the engine to the max PP. Got the gold which is really what I cared about and I'm sure I could shave a couple of seconds if I kept at it, but it's on to the next challenge for me.

Holy ****! That one was difficult. 1:29.9 with completely stock car, straight from the dealership, 445pp, abs 1 only.

I hated the Scirocco at first, but now I am starting to like it.

👍 Well done, and I agree. I didn't like its understeer, and I was having lots of trouble getting to gold. I actually had to give in and get an oil change (little bit of extra power). Managed to power me 8/10's of a second to a 1:29:6 (SRF off, TCS, ABS and everything else off).

Updated no SRF time:

Stock clutch,/diff
I did put the race susp on, very aggressive setup compared to others I've seen:

5.33/9.37
shocks
2/6
2/6
Bars

Camber
0.0/0.1

-0.06/-0.18
Brakes
3/6

Weight 52/48

I'll try again this weekend with custom diff in attempt to beat hash. I'll buy the Trans if it still allows use of h pattern.

Your setup suited me a bit better than Bandit's. The car was more stable during the turns & that's what mattered the most.

Thanks a ton.

You were able to touch the brakes without ABS? I can run my V8 Supercar without ABS, I can run a Star Mazda replica without ABS...

But the Scirocco was just stupidly hard to slow with 0 ABS. How did you manage that?

Well, after reading this thread I feel a lot better about my pain yesterday trying to get Gold on a stock car (after Oil Change).

Had a fair amount of training on Deep Forest due to the WRS Online Event last week, but still, it took me 28 laps to finally manage a 1:29.940 (ABS 1, all other aids off).

No other event was so difficult to gold on stock yet - I sure hope they keep this kind of difficulty, it's fun! :-)

See SRF isn't bad. lol
it doesn't improve your driving, it doesn't stop you from spinning out, it just makes it harder to slide.
Nearest I can figure is it likes slapping on 2 or 3 level softer tires on your car.
I found that quite by accident while doing some FITT tuning I had to take a short break so I took my as is and just slapped on the sport soft tires and I started running the same lap times I had when I did some test laps with SRF on by accident.
Yep, same thoughts here, no magic things but softer tires.
I was going to do the same as you but I didn't find the spare time to do that test yet.

This thread looks better organised than the other one 👍

In first so far on a 1:22.900, leading by 0.430.

Thank you very much for posting your setup online. Really impressive tuning, the car behaves like a sweet heart, turn in and turn out are both sharp and controllable. When you hit the gas pedal, nice recovery force brings the car back on its track! Very nice tuning! Love it! Thank you!

How did I manage it? Barely. The brakes aren't actually that bad, nowhere near as bad as the Toyota FR-1 for me.

Also, don't make it seem like I did something well, you'll make me arrogant! :P

any suggestion will be helpful.
Try rising the ride height to the max, stronger rear springs or softer front springs, the same goes for dampers, add rear negative toe and positive front toe, maybe that will make the trick, no guarantees though.

Finally got round to try this one last night -and it seems to suit me well: 1.23.836 (DS3) within a two hour session! Thank you for the tune Bandit -it handles like a dream. Where can i vote for tune of the month? EDIT: Just saw that! (Tune of the week apparantly!)

Forgive me for asking here but is there a thread for comparing licencetest-times? Or have people disregarded this opportunity for permanent TT-competitions?

That is a bit cheeky. How can you feel honored and grateful after lobbying people to vote for your tune. The honor comes when you stay silent and others vote because they truly do feel your tune is good, not because you asked them to vote for it. Some of the things you say here on these forums never cease to amaze me.:lol:

Take that all you political campaign leaders!

-Seriously though; You're right Cargo. Only i would not even have known of this Tune-of-the-week-thing if it hadn't been for Bandit -and i do think it's a good tune! Still can't seem to find where to vote though:confused:

Got gold for 0.1 in a not 100% clean lap after 45min of tries (+0.035 after 10 minutes, this is because the final lap wasn't entirely clean, pissed off), but... Using my usual setup, so:
- Only ABS 1 as driving aid;
- Only Oil change and Optimized chassis rigidity as tune (-20/23 PP from the limit).
So... At the end, i'm pretty happy.
The other 2 were much more easier, both get gold at 3rd-4th attempt (the fails were for mistakes and I went out of the track). Same low aids-tunes setup obviously.

i did use mr bandits tune and i managed 1.24.7s, after numerous tries. i tested your tune anyway, and it produced a similar lap time, high 1.24s. at first i couldnt believe the car with max height could go around the track just as quick:eek: its that bug isnt it? i mean, we are doing everything opposite to what we learnt in GT5, high front, 0 camber...

im beginning to think GT5 is a better game than this...:(

You just have to send a PM to that guy.
I wasn't meaning for it to say 'Hey look at me, vote for my tune!'. I was just posting that here because I know that people might not have known about it before. And everyone is loving the tune, so why not? :)

This is a challenging test with zero driving aids apart from ABS1. You know you have it in you but you can't do the same lap twice, one section perfect-next time you make a mistake. I was 1/10th away from Gold for quite awhile.
THEN I tried SRF, too easy. Not trying that again.

Just like a cheeky politician, your next move now is to back-peddle. Like I said, the honor comes when people vote on their own, not when lobbied to do so, which is clearly what you are doing. Only when Roweer1 posted what he did, did you come up with this excuse. Its all good though, just think its a very cheeky move, that's all. I mean what's next, GTPlanet Member of the Week.

Welcome to the haunted car settings of Gran Turismo, where nothing seems what it is, nothing is better or worse but just the opposite. :D

I was just informing people that it exists if they didn't already know... :sly:
No, both of you posted while I was asleep, that had nothing to do with my reply haha...
Come on, everyone knows that I'll never get GTPlanet Member of the Week

Yea, right.

And, I'm sure if you campaign hard enough, you just might get MotW.

Anyways, I'll stop now. I was just poking fun at you and your "cheekiness", nothing personal. 👍

I'd have to make flyers and everything to even be in the running!
Okay mate ;)

Finally! 1:29.906

I fiddled around with settings but just ended up using the "out of the box" setup that comes with full custom, except for 1/2* front camber. No aids aside from ABS1. Phew! Now I can sleep! :)

I don't go to hard at these events as "The perfect Lap" I don't have enough time or patience to set up a car and run the same track over and over :). I just want the credits and to post I respectable enough time.

That said I usually can get a gold without any effort usually within 1 or 2 laps. This time trail is actually trialling me though! Admittedly Deep Forest has never been a strong track of mine but I do know the lines through, just getting the gosh darn car to sit on it is proving very difficult.

I found using the stock LSD best with this car, I think my best time is about 30.4, only ABS1 with my G27. Very frustrated, I will try one of these tunes to see how I get on! I actually added 200kg ballast to the rear for 50/50 distribution in my quest to see if I could get the car to do it's thing to my liking. Need to remember the number 1 rule though, you can't tune out bad driving!
