I found several car codes on the final version of GT2 that doesnt have their specifical "buy any car" codes and unfortunately I can't even check what they are because of this..

Those car codes are:

- gt--a
- gt-an
- gt-bn
- gtian
- gtibn
- gticn
- gtlbn
- gtlgn
- gtlsn
- gtnkn
- gtprz
- gt-sn

I found on a demo some cars with the same codes and at the end I could check what their names are:

- JLOC DIABLO GTR '97
- X DIABLO GL '98
- JLOC DIABLO GT-1 '99
- TEAM FCJ FERRARI no. 28 '97
- TFCJ Ferrari F355GT '98
- SOK Mclaren GTR '99
- STP TAISAN PORSCHE GT2 '97
- TAISAN PORSCHE RSR '99

So, if someone can:

-Trying to make the "buy any car" working using the 5-letters car codes (I mean for example: a-a7r for the Mazda RX-7 LM Edition)

Or:

-Replacing a Arcade disk mode car with another car using the (5-letters) code.. (Xenn already did that code for the demos.. But I need the exactly code for the final version 1.2 NTSC)

Well.. If someone can tell me the codes to do it... Well.. We could check those cars I mentioned earlier... in the final version of GT2.. Because they are still there.

PS: No websites putted those cars in the car codes list unfortunately

Finally, the start screen of the demo:
rEh3M0N.png

If you have a demo with this screen, tell us. NOW!

Maybe I should do an HD rendition of this title screen as if it was a screenshot. All there is to it are existing screenshots and the start screen background from most GT2 demos. That might give us a chance to obtain this demo.
Anyone think Polyphony would still have this stuff laying around too? There has to be a chance of them having a build of this from this stage, even if we'll never see their copies.

The Spoon Civic Type-R is missing his White colour scheme in the NTSC version.. (The PAL version has it)

And the Spoon Integra Type-R is missing is Yellow colour scheme aswell

Yeah.. I realized that after I saw in another website the number codes (1178008, ecc..)

I found the exact code of the cars I listed previously.. And they all have Toyota Altezza as placeholder.. But still the name inside their files..

Gonna search in more demos to see if I can see something more..

In the NTSC version if you racing modify a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Turbo '95 you gonna get in the garage the "3000GT Twinturbo" logo

If you race modify a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 Twin Turbo, you receive a choice of a red or green 1995 Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbo, with a Puma Racing livery.

gto-95.jpg

They had to rename the 3000GT because there would have been a licensing issue with Pontiac, and Ferrari for using the GTO name in American regions. Plus, that was the reason why us North Americans only knew it by the 3000GT name.
But somehow this logo slipped through and made it into the US Versions.

I wonder how many people thought it was weird that they had a Japanese car with an "American" name, haha!

Interestingly...GTO is italian for Gran Turismo Omologato, which translates to “officially certified for racing in the grand tourer class”. So that must be true, the 3000GT race modified IS probably eligible for being a race car, a la GTO.

What I find supremely annoying with this whole GTO kerfuffle is Ferrari got dibs on the GTO name first (250 GTO) and they didn't throw up a ruckus with Pontiac. There's no reason for Pontiac to be so protective IMO, especially as the 2 cars in question are so different.

It's similar to the case of Ferrari F1 F150 who got sued by Ford because of the same named F150 trucks. Really? Are people going to be confusing an F1 car with a truck??? Licensing stuff just piss me off sometimes.

Found some sort of Spanish Forum page about GT hidden stuff
http://zonaforo.meristation.com/topic/1895915/
Nothing new actually, but this thing might be interesting

Down that thread, there are some videos with gameplay on 3 deleted/beta tracks
One seems to be a weird, buggy prototype of Apricot Hill with a massive drop on the final chicane
Number two is the infamous Indi oval
And number three looks like the Monaco circuit:eek: (without background)

Awesome find! Indy reminds me of the old Ridge Racer ovals with the tunnels and stuff. Monaco except for the chicane seems pretty accurate. Just imagine what could have been if PD had finished these tracks...

I got confused as in the PAL version the first complex of Apricot Hill was named as Palm Strip. Also sorry for the quality, just quickly recalled the mention and went into my any% speedrun video file and screencapped it... (basically the same as in this post. It's kinda interesting that name was left).

(Don't mind me, just checking into this thread as it seems active and saw the discussion about Palm Strip...in the OP... :P)

And that my friend, is why I will always call the Dodge Concept Car the Copperhead, because thanks to some stupid company the Concept Car became the most uninspired named car in the world, right next to the 1971 Plymouth Muscle Car.

Oh and that name too, Muscle Car. In 1971, the phrase "Muscle Car" didn't exist, but cars we now know under that class were actually known as "Supercars."

I figure that it had a different name when the beta Vectra looked more like a regular Vectra in comparison to the final GSI model. I guess they originally thought of using a regular Vectra, but then thought the GSI would be a better addition. Although, I can't see why they didn't just use both in the final GT2 when they had multiple trims of other sedans.

Yes.. And some other removed cars like Renault Sport Spider, Jaguar XK180, some Ferraris and Lamborghini ecc.. But they all have placeholders unfortunately..

Gonna check every GT2 demo to see if there is something else..

Wow, there really is another e36 3-Series hidden in the demo. Darn, I wonder why they didn't included it in the final game. I bet if Polyphony finished the racing mod model of this e36, it would be based on one of the BTCC 3-Series.

Yeah they removed two E36 based models (The 323i and the 320i).. But I think their racing modifications would have been the same as the 323Ci/328Ci if they were finished..

I'll agree to disagree, I personally don't see why Polyphony would use the same livery on an older 3-series as what they were using on the e46. Especially since a lot of euro sedans in GT2 had racing mods based on the BTCC series.

EDIT: Also @SuperFrizzio, can you show the other e36 along with the VW Polo and Ford Escorts?

I'm thinking about making a (really long) video that shows every single beta and hidden car inside GT2 and GT2 Demos, showing the differences between the cars and the names&logo aswell..

Unfortunately the other BMW has a Toyota Altezza placeholder like a said before.. And his racing modified counterpart aswell... Same with the Ford Escort 1.8 Gti and the Volkswagen Polo.. (At least on this demo I'm exploring, the Bonus Playstation Disc..)

Gonna check all of the cars of the other demos as soon as I finish to check the cars/tracks in the demo I'm currently exploring..

The racing modification of the Ford Escort Gti became the [R] Escort Rally Car in the final version; here is the in-game name of the Ford Escort Gti:

esc1_zpss0q3nyf1.jpg

Another hidden Escort I discovered is the Ford Escort RS2000, also here what it remains is just the name:

esc2_zps5rjwpjdo.jpg

The Ford Escort RS2000 was going to be something like this:

L-Escort-RS2000-Mk2-3.jpg

Btw, the final version of GT2 still has the description of the Ford Escort RS1600/RS2000:

esc3_zpsxzy6tj8z.jpg

esc4_zpsefrs5ndy.jpg

Here is the Volkswagen Polo 1.4 16V in-game name.. Same as in the final version..

polo_zpsccitjizq.jpg

I kinda figured about the 1.8 GTI; I used the Escort Rally Car code on my demo discs myself and got a placeholder aswell. Oh well, it's a shame, but I still would like to take a look myself. Can you post the codes for the Escorts, e36s, VW Polos, and Renault Spider?

Yeah, we already discussed that part.

Sure RandomCarGuy17.. Remember that I'm currently using the Bonus Playstation Disc Demo so I suggest you to use that.. : >

Here another hidden car.. This time a Mercedes-Benz car... The:

Mercedes-Benz AMG C55 (CODE: gmc5n)

Like you can see.. All what remains is the name and the logo... The model wasn't even started considering that there is another Altezza placeholder

Here is the logo:

Can't wait to look at the Test Drive Disc Demo cars :)

Thank you very much and great job so far. It's nice to see that there's still hidden cars to find after all of this time.

I plan to try these codes on the last demo of GT2. The one with the laptimes shown when you race.
