Slightly off-topic to what we're talking about now, but what was the Eigen Loop, mentioned in the OP?
A very distorted version of Eiger Path, a course name shown in the various intros of GT2. I believe it's an early name for Grindelwald, but others think it's a scrapped racetrack.

That machine test/garage bug you guys mentioned well I did some research and when I bought three copies of GT2 (in different versions) and it seems that versions 1.0 and 1.1 has the machine test/garage bug while the Greatest Hits versions aka 1.2 doesn't have it meaning PD fixed it.

That machine test/garage bug reminded me of @Parnelli Bone 's amazing poetry about the bug.
Sportwagon: sorry to disappoint you, but it's true, the Garage Delete bug still exists on newer copies of the game. I highly doubt that Sony sold me a refurbished disc. I think the more testing and sharing info between memory cards you do, the more suseptible your cars are getting lost.

I claim: the Thief he walks among us.
He lurketh unseen in Cyberspace
And reareth his ugly head on occasion to steal our precious mobiles.

Despite his tricks i envy him,
For I track him, I witness his moves,
But I can never catch him
As he makes off with my Civic, my Shelby, my RUF Porsche.

Beware! Turismo lé Grandé II.

Anyways I'll be looking into more PS related magazines in search of GT2 related content.

So, thanks to a very good friend I've got my hands on the Test Drive build. While I haven't really started digging into car models, I've found these two logos that I don't remember being mentioned here:

-cV8bL1UH_xNIxj0b_FVMcTHMrcYHIE2jWKaAD7Odkj1I0SQZTuu5mWTUTKZGSXXuldYtgt95UwwfA=w212-h56

The scrapped Polo G40 (gvp4n), known from the previous demos. This build has the logo, but the model itself is the same old Altezza.

pUGjKGp2jfJYrxGmuQbTJ9QqHobR_gK0FlLyQiiFmT2b1hQMu-_2XNcRlG_m6SYGzpSrZhSMmiWrbw=w252-h44

Now that's an interesting addition - Golf Cabriolet (gv3cn). Once again, no model, not even an Altezza placeholder.

I'll see if I can find some yet undiscovered stuff. This build is two weeks more recent than the late build from Euro Demo 53 in terms of content.

volkswagen-golf-cabrio-11.jpg

A decent car. But what's with PD adding a lot of cabriolet model cars?

Hmm...
Makes me wonder, that's two VW cars taken off the game, the one being only a logo (kinda like the Rex Supercharger) and the other having the logo in the demo, and the model in the final game.
Why would they remove that many VW cars? Couldn't have been technical issues. Makes me think that VW probably was very picky with which cars would make it...

After backreading the whole thread, maybe these guys could be some help (if they are still active that is) in finding info about the E3 version of GT2.

@Parnelli Bone @Pupik

I also like to mention in the early parts of this thread (going off topic) that they mentioned GTF and its downfall.

Is there any where a tutorial on porting? Ive searched and searched and google and this forums search bar doesnt give me what im looking for..... also im havin issue with importing the gt2.vol file with cdmage, it doesnt give me the option of importing it.....

It would be cool for a tutorial video to appear to make things a bit easier to grasp.

Yes it would, hell i would even take a picture/writen tutorial thats abit more in depth than mmrivit's quickie on youtube.

I got the main part mostly, extracted the vol, exploded the vol, hexified the uncompressed .cdo and .cno, plucked those plus .cdp and .cnp file into the final car file (in .gz format obivously), trimmed the bytes the match via editing the gtmenu/ita file. Rebuilt the vol with the exploding tool, then To check the byte size i just right click in the .vol file and clicked on properties to bring up total byte size, reopen the dispossable .bin in cdmage with track mode2/2356 or something like that. But it wont let me import the modded vol file when i right click the vol file in the .bin iso.

Cdmage is 1.1.5 i think and my comp is an old windows xp pro....... completely dedicated for the modding of gran turismo....... and extracting music, and videos.....

On a side note speaking of videos..... i did extract GT2000 videos from a psx japan demo, its an interview with the creator and he talks in japanese about the development of gran turismo for ps2....... you can even see a small green box under the t.v. ....... thats the early prototype ps2 that was for developers in the very early days....... no one seems to have much info on the mystorious green prototype ps2...... lol.

First, does CDMage show a message about file size when right-clicking the VOL file, selecting "Import file..." and choosing the altered VOL?
Second, does it start importing the file, or does it throw an error before the process?
Third, if you don't get an error before the import process, do you get an error during it, failing the process?

Usually when I fail to import the new VOL, it's a matter of getting a new, fresh .bin or .img to import into.

I've tried modifying a GT2 ISO before, not for cars/tracks though. I tried different things, and I use UltraISO. It's free (I think, been a while), which is a plus 'cause I couldn't find a goddamn iso modifier that didn't recquire to pay to be able to save it >.>

Anyway, the only thing is you need to mod an original ISO with the new file. Replacing a modded file with a new one brings up an error.

I found its name EB-2000 or EB-2000S
Following this article http://assemblergames.com/l/threads...e-playstation-2-development-kit-thread.31231/ it seems there was another one before these two.

WOOOOOOOOWWWWW!!!!! holy crap! Thats uber cool and so big! I have to go read that post thank you for it.......!

And i rewatched the video, and i was mistaken......its actually a thin blue box, more like the 1st gen psx console shape but in blue and more flat, with what looks to be a ps1 dual shock connected to it............ i could share the video, i used jpsxdec to extract the videos (5 total from demo disc) they are in a mpeg avi format, but they are fuzzy.......

If someone could clean up the video quality or something, i have the videos, the .bin, and the rar file of the demo it came from.......

Thanks for the compliment. :)

I suspect the culprit is the CDmage version. Try version B5 (sometimes referred to as beta 5), which is the one I use for modding, or follow submaniac93's suggestion of UltraISO (I've never used it, but I believe it does the trick).

Yes, i see the issue now. i got cdmage b5 now it worked!

And MMRivit i have a question about the car textures you shared on boobtube... lol, do you want me to ask in a pm? I wasn't sure if you would prefer it to be private......

And also MMRivit i have a copy of multiple gt2 demos, i.e. opm us, opm uk, ect. including the rare gt2 test drive, and also gt1 demos both gt1 trial version and gt1 test drive........

And which .vol builds had:

-Orange mugen crx pro 3

-White/silver renault espace f1

-All white daihatsu midget 2 (no black on bumper)

If they exist........

On another note....
Also i'll try to post some pics later of a few things i thought was "share-able" lol for this thread, like my .vol file of the 1st dated gt2 build, inside the .vol, the carlogo file is empty. I also noticed a car file in the 1st build, but it was removed in the 2nd build, but it was in the 3rd and the test drive .vols.

Can I ask you a question?

as you know when we put the wrong code to display an in used car, there appears a vehicle named no name no name with green logo. This error can could be a hidden car in the game? I thought it might be the kids hidden prize, which is currently the only trophy of licenses to not have a body and wheels and it's green & yellow.

in the demo that you explored... there are vehicles of licenses? Because I know there's BGCourse, maybe you could check off something interesting!

Ty for have readed.

If you have questions regarding palette mod how-to's, feel free to ask them here, I think it should be of other people's interest too. If it's something about the custom stuff I shared on the video description, use YouTube's comment section or drop me a PM...

None of these exist. The CRX uses a placeholder body on all demo builds, the Espace F1 is only available in the regular color scheme and the Midget II has the black bumper on all builds. Doesn't mean that we can't mod them though... :mischievous:

I'm genuinely interested in that last bit about the missing car file. I've checked all models from the first three builds and no files were ever deleted from them, just added or updated.

The green color is just the default primary color, linked to the Mazda RX-7 A-spec LM I suppose. There's no Kid's Prize model hidden in the final builds, and none of the license "cars" are present in the demo builds (as you mentioned, only the Course BG is present).

I checked the car param for the demos, so. I come to the conclusion that from the PS Shock demo is that something is off about this one in particular. It has no Car Logos of any kind, maybe. It's hidden within the data? I believe this is the second or first demo, but I don't exactly know. Here are some arcade data params for the cars, maybe we can assign cars directly towards the data for any car that exists in between the data?

"..t291n..n24vn..m2g5n..m2g6n..h2s2n..a28sn..s2lgn..x2a8n..q2mcn..k2zzn..ia54n..gas4n..gb28n..dcc1n..cc69n..cc67n..ccrcn..fcx8n..iictn..ufm9n..ilden..io19n..gm32n..umcon..bmmgn..gotin..fp26n..ulrrn..ulcun..ulgxn..ulpsn..brmcn..gv4gn..m2r5r."

From my hex editor, it is a kind of string used to catalog the arcade cars or something.

File: devcarpm.dat

Note, there are longer versions of these names, they are only five bits of data for the game to really see it from the arcade mode menus.

Ok, ill send you a pm in a day or two, its annoying that i bought the viper gts in blue but in my garage its stays silver..... and others

And could you please make an orage crx pro3 and a silver espace f1 pretty please?

There is a pic of the silver espace f1 and the all white midget 2, in that spanish psm mag that was linked a page back..... i screen captured it and ill post it among others.

I finally did find the white spoon civic type-r.... lol, and the nice metallic purple plymouth pt spyder!

And about the car file, sorry my bad, i had over looked it. It wasnt at the top in the 2nd build. Its a2ksn or something like that, its just a honda logo placeholder body with body colored exhaust tip. But i did notice some in the "gt___" part are they the trophies like in the final?

I too am interested about it. What's the name file called.
