Well, thanks to @Xenn and @SuperFrizzio; I'm back to exploring demos of GT2. This time, I'm checking out the Test Drive disc!

Well, I learned that not only the 1999 Mustang SVT Cobra is now playable (which I figured since it was an AI car for Class A), it's racing mod was the Saleen SR and the livery use to have the BASF decals on it. Here's a screenshot of the beta SR and the final one for a comparison.


EDIT: Another thing to note is that there seems to be a new placeholder car added. I'm now seeing the Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 when looking up cars in the demo and I noticed that the Shelby Cobra Daytona logo is present on one of the placeholder cars in the rally menu, but it's oddly enough still not on the actual Daytona coupe.

Regarding GT mode, there's nothing to be unlocked in it. The only hidden screen is the infamous "Gran Turisumo Gallely", like the other demos.

And btw im getting the hang on the color editing, its across all the palettes and a pita to do, but i have started a couple, and when im happy with how it looks.... would you be able to test among as a few other members to test them to make sure i did it properly and that there isnt any flaws...... if you and a few others could, please? Im not done with them yet, but when i do finish them...... its pretty much just fixing minor stuff on them now.



does anyone still do the lost art of gs bodymods? I.e. dropping the top on the honda s2000? I found old sites thanks to the wayback machine, lol

Okay then, I just wanted to make sure.

With that out of the way, here is something I recorded yesterday.


New things I should point out about the Test Drive disc:
- The Vector W8 Twin Turbo now has a body and it comes in more colors than in the final game. Though its wheels are missing.
- The Toyota GTONEs are still not completed. The road car has the same unfinished body that I showed in my beta cars video and the race cars just give me Galant placeholders.
- The Suzuki Pikes Peak cars are in the same case, no bodies present at all.
- The Lancia Delta Integrale Evoluzione is now at the correct ride height, which I figured since the regular Integrale has the correct body now.
- The BMW e28 5-Series now has a body, but with no wheels.
- The Acura Integras now make an appearance including the GS and LS models that are hidden in the final game. Though the Acura Integra Type R models still have place holders.
- The 1998 Integra Type R oddly enough has the castrol racing mod, I guess PD hasn't finished the DC Sports livery at this point yet.
- The Toms Angel T01 finally has a body!
- I tried seeing if the demo had the Focus Rally Car finished and it showed me a regular Focus instead.

I don't think the demo has any, I have it, though. It is weird. I only played the 1st - 3rd demos, the Test Drive version was nearly complete.

No, not yet. Though Ive sèen a bit of one playing when I leave the game alone for a few min. It was a Subaru Impreza Rally Car on smokey mountain north, though the 1996 model.

EDIT: I should mention that I do intend on recording the idle replays at one point as I've done this with past GT demos.

The reason i wanted gs sim mode codes was the unlock the sim mode and play it, like for gt1 trial version i can use gs codes to unlock the sim mode and play the game like normal......

The toms angle t01 is silver and red,

the toms t020 is silver, grey, red, yellow.

The cobra 427 has the same color scheme as the daytona coupe.

The concept car is altezza placeholder

And the clk race car doesnt exist until the final, which i thought was odd since the clk-gtr pics are from early e3 build. There is a slk320, but its identical to the slk230 but with smaller wheels. And the clk dtm named nissan primera race car is a altezzza toms race car body.

Also the ford rs200 doesnt exist until the final,
But the escort gti nameplate and description is still there but with a altezza placeholder. I know the escort has been talked about before...... but here is some sceen pics

Ah, of course it was.
It set me up for disappointment, I was really excited to see an orange CR-X Del Sol (one of the silliest things I've been excited about). oh well, I could paint a Del Sol in FM4 orange if I wanted to anyway.

EDIT: Here's a few odd things I've wondered about GT2 when looking at it. Why did Polyphony Digital only model the regular e36 3-Series when they could have modeled the M3? or why didn't they try adding the Escort RS Cosworth instead of the 1.8 GTI?

Seems like it is using Elise/Esprit palette (remember, the Cobra used Demio GL-X palette - and the GT90 used RX-7 '98 palette). 💡

Speaking of the Esprit, all 3 Esprit models are now finished in the Test Drive disc. I would get either a place holder or a game crash in the past demos, but not on the Test Drive disc.

I think your right, lol. Yes i ported it in just for the hell of it.

And i would have loved a rs escort cosworth (road version)!!!!! And im not a bmw fan, but the earlier 3-series looks better to me than the latter 3-series...... i dont understand why they didnt incorperate the z3 convertible nor the m coupe....... yes the m coupe was in gt4, but thats not the point...... i mean at the time of development bmw was pushin the z3, it was in a bond film (minor part) but it was in it.

Reading the description of the Ford Escort GTi 1.8 and watching the specs. I think the Ford Escort GTi was replaced with the Ford Focus 1.8 Zetec.

And if someone create a body texture mod of the Ford Escort GTi 1.8, we can have the car with the real (or similar) stats!

Edit*: Talking about the Ford Escort Rs Cosworth, i think that would be the machine where later on race modifing would be the ford escort rally car. Because the ford escort 1.8 GTi would be very slow (try to tune the focus 1.8i to the max and see) and with front wheel drive.

No, the Escort WRC was actually a race mod for the Escort 1.8 GTI before that car got scrapped for the Focus. I know, because I used a code to race the placeholder body of the Escort rally car once and the Escort 1.8 GTI came up in the race results.

Which still begs the question on why PD never thought of modelling this.
