Sebastien Loeb Challenge

wow, i couldn't even get bronze with before with all aids off.

i read this thread, then turned on skid recovery and ASM, and GOLD!! by 9 seconds in the snow event!!!!!

Using a controller as well.

WOW.

Yeah, I tried a couple of times with a wheel, and couldn't get anywhere near bronze. I followed the info here, and POP! 'insta-golds' on all three events using a DS3! :D

Would be easy for me if I knew the tracks. I didn't and it took me some time (esp the snow one took me about half an hour to get gold). Great fun though! 👍

Don't bother to learn the tracks, it makes no diff. I haven't played since GT4, and so have no idea of half the tracks in the game. Just got to go really slow to be fast. And also the rally tracks are supposedly generated and not the same each time.

Controller user here.

Got all golds with no aids except TCS only for the snow one.

Tarmac took 2-3 tries max.

Snow took many, many tries. I had to turn the TCS on (setting: 1).

Gravel took about 12-15 tries (TCS turned back off).

I found driving without assists a lot easier if i'm honest. You can put the car where you want on the track and TCS is a complete no-no. Chamonix took me about 3-4 attempts to get gold but all the others were on my first clean run.

I am going to have to try it, even though I have made it to level 21, I had bypassed the Gallardo challenge. Then I got my butt kicked by it twice, really bad. Trip to the tuner shop for some racing tires and a gearing change, instant results, and GOLD! Do you get a Veyron for winning the Sebastian?

While I had no problems with almost any License - but I gave 2 full hours of my life for SebLoeb Challenges :D

Same,i still haven't even got bronze yet on the challenges, the problem for me is i don't really like Loeb or Citreon so i couldn't care about them now and i'm not really a fan of GT rallies.

Chamonix is kicking my butt. I gold'ed the others after a couple of tries, but Chamonix I still haven't even bronzed. Can't get my head around the snow driving apparently.

Never, EVER use TCS in rallyes.

Seriously. You'll be beating your own time by 10-20 seconds by turning it off.

If you are having problems controlling the car then I have a solution that will only make you faster. By default the car use's 70% on front and 30% on the rear for torque and acceleration to combat this do the following...

Go to Settings-Options-Hardware-Change Button Assignments-Edit R1 button to (RA fuction) Menu. Then do the same for the dpad arrows up/down/left/right for the adust and select values.

Then once in the time trial hit R1 and sit the front and rear to 50% 50% this improves the car's grip and stability massively and also turn all assist's off and abs 1.

And this, though i usually prefer 40/60 front/back. I also set the brake balance to 7/3 or something similar.

Have the RA options set to somewhere on the controller, you'll find that you can improve your chances by mucking around in there a bit if you do.

The reason active steering helps so much is that you need to be turning in the direction of the skid to get revs up... the car will bog if you don't. Active steering tends to keep the revs up for that reason.

I'm an old man of 42 so I put that on, and skid control, so I could gold everything before bedtime ;) you do still have to know how to throw the car around. Getting the car pitched at the right angle before you get into the curve, etc. It's fun even with aids, I'm sure I'll revisit it with everything off just to live dangerously- when I have more time :)

Just beat all of them by about a second each with no aids except ABS 1, and adjusted the diff to 50/50 for all events. In all it took me about 3 hours but I took a few breaks in between. I really enjoyed it actually.

These challenges i personally found to be way to easy compared to some of the others, done them all no aids (Aids make your car slower in the offroad courses from what i've seen).

I finally beat Chamonix by almost 3 seconds by turning the diff to 50/50. I also turned off ABS, but I'm pretty sure that actually made it worse. But acceleration is so much better at 50/50. The Ghost car never pulls away and you can catch it with some good corner entries in places.

Will try the DS3... I am totally dumbfounded by the weird rally physics... I have not unlocked the key despite tons of attempts. 7 seconds off at eiger and tons more on chamonix using my wheel.

I have wasted so much money on a crappy 340 hp audi tt quattro I feel I need to get something back on it. I can´t even finish the intermediate rally since the tarmac rally totally kills me. The weird thing is for that rally the snow is the easiest. Gold with 2 minutes with several crashes and 360s???

Managed to finish Toscana after realising I had the assists on and wasn't go anywhere. Just missed a Silver. On Eiger however I can't get close to bronze, not sure what I'm doing wrong. Does it help to use manual gears because so far I've only been using auto?

I golded all 3 in a few goes using the DS3 and AT, not bragging just saying - I have found the Rally events very easy in GT5. I think I set TCS, ABS at 1 and ASM off for this event.

I've done well with all the rally license tests, getting gold on them all I think. But those Loeb laps I'm struggling with; the car just doesn't seem to be moving very quickly. I'm taking a good line and staying on the track but the car seems to lack power, particularly coming out of corners, I just don't get where I'm going wrong when I had no problem with rally events previously.

I did this yesterday, the easiest way to make the rally car handle is to re-config your controller so that you have the ability to use "RA function select" and adjustments (may need to get rid of window wipers and ghost car functions)

then turn all assists apart from abs off, then in game goto RA function select menu and change the torque split to 45 front - 55 rear (this works a charm on toscana and eiger) on Chamonix change torque split to 50 - 50 for the start of race, then when you goto the first straight away change it to 45 - 55.

I got gold on both the gravel stages first attempt doing this, and after about three attempts on chamonix (made some errors and crashed).

Good luck and keep at it

Just go fast and dont brake unless needed just ease on the gas and be smooth I golded them all like that and turn off all driving aids they supress acceleration

Honestly I feel the best advice when it comes to rally is to pretty much not drift. Look at the examples and you'll see what I mean. Once I got this down I was able to pass Loebs ghost on eiger k

just golded these challenges in 2 hours or so. I found that the Toscana and Eiger challenges were pretty easy and the Chamonix took up most of my time (I hate snow). But essentially, the best tip is do not drift. It's all about throttle control and where you think you're going slow is probably the fastest way to drive. Do check the examples and you'll see.

I golded the first one on Toscana a couple days ago, and I found how important it is to NOT drift in every corner. Once I got that right it was easy. Yesterday I went for the 2 others. Golded the Eiger one in an hour, with 5 seconds to spare on only my second finish. A bit more than an hour for the Chamonix, that one requires delicate throttle control in the cornerns.

Im using a DFGT with MT and no aids except ABS 1. I think it would be harder with a DS3 though.

I will have to keep that mind (about not drifting every corner) because I find the rally races to be especially hard and I'm obviously not the only one. :)

the last one in the snow is actually pretty easy... just have trac off and 50/50 and take it very slow and easy and power through the end of the corner and its easy...but it is the most frustrating for sure

I will clarify myself a bit. As this is rallying you have to take most corners with some powersliding, but the angle of the car sliding should not be too large. If there is a straight after a corner, you will want to slide just so much that the car lines up to the straight. If you floor the accelerator the rear end will go out in a drift and you will come sideways out of the corner, which will cost you a lot of time.
