Sebastien Vettel challenge: all gold

Guys, has anybody managed to get 3 golds without SRF?

I managed 3 bronzes in 2.5 hours with SRF off, but gold seems borderline impossible at this point.

Just for comparison, I tried with SRF on and it makes huge difference, but it feels even more un(sur)real. You can corner harder and you can really feel the extra grip, but it kind of destroys the experience. You have to actually drive brutally and skid the car, since this is when you get the extra grip. Gold seems, perfectly doabble this way, though (obviously). Did it on Monza. For me in terms of difficulty it looks like Gold with skid on = Bronze with skid off (or not dissimilar).

My question is whether gold is possible at all with SRF off and if so, how much time you have invested (my reference is 2.5 hours for 3 bronzes, SRF off).

I did it with SRF off. You can take corners almost as fast as you can with SRF on, you just got to have a much tighter racing line, as the grip is considerably inferior. If you screw up on the line, there's no chance to recover and you will go into the grass/wall.

These are my replay videos for Nürburgring and Suzuka. I didn't save one for Monza as that one was pretty easy.

Nürburgring took me one hour, 45 minutes to gold and Suzuka took me over 5 hours. Monza was the shortest, under one hour.

Also, these are not the best times I could have achieved on either track, as I did far better laps during tries.

My god Lestat - those are mental. Good to see vids as they really showed me where I'm going wrong - I'm basically slowing down too much for a lot of the corners so seeing the speed through them is very useful for me.

Cheers.

You're welcome 👍

The hardest thing to do in the challenge is finding the racing line, especially on the esses on Suzuka. That's probably the hardest part of the challenge, in technical terms, as that section can instantly kill your chances for gold, if you take it too slow.

It's a shame that there isn't 900º wheel turn support in GT5 (I may be mistaken though, but so far I haven't been able to use it), as the X2010 would seriously benefit from it.

270º you mean? If so, then yes.

Here are my videos.

Total - 2:07.033
Lap 1 - 1:03.848
Lap 2 - 1:03.185

Monza:

I know 270º rotation is possible, but the DFGT allows for 900º steering, which isn't on GT5.

To be honest, I would have liked the option of switching between 270º and 360º, as that would be enough to counter some of the more quick-snap turning that affects some cars (Elise 111R comes to mind).

By the way, pretty amazing times you've got there

I do seem able to use 900º lock to lock in street cars with my G25. The X1 would be more usable in 270º from my point of view.

I wish I was able to do that on my DFGT. It would have helped immensely to soften the driving line on the esses on Suzuka.

While 270º is a good sweet spot for the X2010, I don't feel it to be quite as smooth as it can be.

Then again, we're talking about a car that goes around the 130R at 420 km/h, Spoon at 240-280 km/h and the chicane at 150. Anything more smooth than that, and we would be racing a Wipeout jet :-P

What is the wheel's rotation lock to lock range in the Game?

I can't set anything for my Fanatec in game but, can adjust the degrees rotation on the wheel itself.
Without knowing where it's starting from it'll be a lot of trial and error to sort.

My DFGT has 900º lock to lock range, but in GT5 it only seems to use 270º.

Might be different for other wheels.

I switch my DFP from 900 to 270 using SELECT - L3 - R1 (I think), I use that setting for the FGT, and will probably once I get an X2010.

Managed a bronze on Monza last night, but there's a couple turns on Suzuka and Nurb that I always seem to screw up on my second lap. I've done my share of laps on both tracks in the FGT in hopes that it would make controlling the beast any easier, and it hasn't. Only three levels left for Bob and I'll have it.

This will be one GT challenge that I will NEVER crack.

Do you use a wheel??

Is there anything that you can change on the DS3 settings to make this challenge any easier? Sorry to bring it up but I know that on Forza you can change the deadzones which affect how a car behaves but I've yet to see anything similar on GT5. I'm not too bothered about getting all gold but I atleast want silver on this challenge and it seems almost impossible for me.

Perhaps this challenge is a ploy to sell more wheels. You simply can't change the direction of the in-game steering wheel fast enough with a stick regardless of how good your reactions are.

All 3 gold check the PSN if needed :D monza took less than 3 tries, nurburgring about 45 mins and suzuka a hour and abit, imo this challenge was abit silly and unrealistic not so much a test of skill more reactions. but got my x1 prototype legit 0 duped cars im happy :D oh btw this is so much easier on a dfgt or thruxmaster, did the first 2 golds on my g27(shakes to hell and in gt5 the g27 support just sucks) aslong as you get a 1.05 on your first lap suzuka you should have gold aslong as nothing goes wrong.

Finally unlocked this two days ago thanks to Seasonal Events.. did one pass on Monza and got Bronze immediately. Then didn't play until yesterday, got gold on Monza after a few tries, then bronze on Nurburgring. Took me a LOT of tries to get gold on Nurburgring due to 2nd lap screw ups, but finally just got it.

Now I'm off to try Suzuka for the first time.. wish me luck, LOL. :)

Got bronze on all of them after not too long. Suzuka is easily the hardest. I can probably get gold on monza, maybe nurburgring after some work. Suzuka though....

If you cut corners on Nurb and Suzuka, do you get disqualified??

More than two wheels off and you're DQ'd. You can use the curbs, but not much else.

I ran for 3 hours on Suzuka last night and got silver, then called it a night. Tried again when I woke up this morning, and after an hour or so I'm ALMOST at gold..

2.10.053 :( :(

Thx mate. Good luck at Golding Suzuka.

They're all very difficult! Go for that Gold on Monza though, the experience really pays off! I managed to get it with the DS3. If you cut the chicanes proper, you can even pass the ghost on the short straight after the second chicane on the first lap!

I tried it many times, but even bronze seems impossible for me on this challenge.

At least on Monza I got pretty near and only was too slow for 1 second or something...
