Come on @Johnnypenso that's not cool. Some of us try to remain blissfully ignorant of how good a racing game can be in 2014 and there you go just shoving it in our faces. How rude. Well, I guess I'm off to eBay to sell my PS3's. :indiff:

Even if "died" is a more appropriate word than "killed", I don't really feel it invalidates the bad taste argument in any way - it doesn't seem right that it should be dealt with in a game.

And secondly, small shops are exempt from the UK laws that ban tobacco from being advertised at the point of sale until 2015. I imagine an off-licence falls under the category of "small", whereas a supermarket such as Asda falls under "big", and they have been banned from advertising tobacco since 2012.

Tesco (an express outlet) has them exposed near where I live. Probably Sainsbury as well (been a while I went there and now I'm not sure about it, but almost sure it is exposed as well) ;)
Don't mind if it gets banned tough, would be nice if my missus gave up on that crap... anyway, back to the topic at hand.. :)

Regarding the sponsorship censoring, "Team Lotus Special" has been used to cover up the JPS logos on the old Lotuses for a long time now.

More interestingly though the Porsche 956 in Forza 4 has the full Rothmans livery with no censoring, despite the fact that Forza 2 and 3 has the logos removed and the game is rated a 3+/E

It's probably a pretty grey area legally and might depend on licensing as to whether it qualifies as advertising, and most game publishers would probably rather be safe than sorry.

Because it was DLC, which is unrated.

The in-game video is another question mark. It looks like a teaser that would be suitable for release in April.

"Coming in May"

Instead it got removed and from the looks of it they will unlock it with all the rest of Senna content which defies the purpose of a teaser.

Why would they remove it ? Clearly it was planned to include it in 1.07 (it's still written here) and that's how they "construct" it. The change of plans was made later and needed a hotfix.

But why ?

As far as I'm aware, Turn10 were able to use the Rothmans logos because the rating does not include DLC/online content. I'd imagine PD could go down that route, but 1. If they want to include the 97T in future games, they will just have to re-do the livery again for that game, or upset people by including it later via DLC, and 2. They might just be trying to avoid any controversy all together.

Especially Turn 10. If you see their Top Gear contect vs GT5, you'll know.
Ohmygawd... I hated the Top Gear content in Forza 4. Specifically that ignorant bowling stuff, which I didn't expect to see smack in the freaking CAREER MODE. Of all the stupid...

The reasonably priced car stuff... you guys were impressed by that?? :odd:

Good Lord, the human race has the most wildly divergent tastes I can imagine. Of course, what else is new when the hot music these days is EDM, rap, hiphop and metal, and man, could I mention a political loser we're stuck with. Meh... I'm on the wrong planet...

At least it's miles better than anything PD did with Top Gear .

I agree it shouldn't have been in the career but that sort of 'nonsense' is exactly what Top Gear is about. Silly fun. The bowling fitted perfectly, just as I say not in career mode.

Just noticed the MP4 is in the opening.

God this is painful. Atleast we'll have a picture of it in GT6 I guess.

Way to take an L Polyphony.

I do wonder whether they had a young apprentice write up these captions or are poor Japanese translations.

This season, high tech equipment were banned, with refueling during the race reinstated. Williams prepared the FW16, a car without active suspension nor ABS.

The Grand Prix opened in Brazil. Senna took his 63rd pole position, but spins while chasing Schumacher in the final, retiring out of the race

Just bad. Should be Grand Prix Season, and the final what?

Schumacher makes an excellent start in the final. Senna following behind is involved in a multi car accident in the first corner, taking him out of the race.

A pattern seemed to be forming this season. Senna dominates qualifying. Schumacher turns the tables in the final. In just 2 races, there was already a 20 point gap between Senna and Schumacher.

It's got to be a translation issue. Who calls races the 'final'? And then they use the correct word as well, races.

Off course. You, for instance, are happy with a track and a pointless Samba Bus chasing the rabbit kind of race as Top Gear content. Others think that FM4 uses the presenters in much better way. Dare I say that they are the majority.

if you mean the car that appears by his sister, it's the 1990 MP4/5B and was given to Ayrton when he won his second title. Guess PD could have modeled that, as it is privately owned.

No. The rights belong to McLaren, as always. (naming, design, the whole thing)

What you just said is like the same as: "you could make a copy of your GT6 disc and sell it because it's privately owned"...

Well they tried that with the JGTC Diablo in GT3 and that didn't work.

some cars actually have their intellectual property transferred to the new owner along with the object itself, it all depends on how the deal went down.

I never heard anything even remotely close to such deal involving a race car. Nevermind a F1 winning one.

Yeah, Ron Dennis would give away the intellectual rights of a world champion car.

I've thought of that one-off Ferrari, the P4/5 and the cars that win that annual contest to appear in the game (GT awards at SEMA). I don't know if it would extend to F1 cars. Judging by the good relationship between the Ayrton Senna Institute and McLaren, I wouldn't be surprised.

Hilarious thing. Forza featured the "reasonably priced cars" but never used them for challenges. Infact the TGTT wasn't ever used from doing standing start hot laps in career mode.

I felt it was wrong, but that's what makes Forza. It's supposed to be inviting to everyone. GT just used the track. Didn't go full bore into it.. made some silly events and a silly introvideo... just featuring the track. Nothing more.

The IP isn't given away with those cars though... they are again licenced even if on a direct owner-to-game producer basis. PD pay the car's owner (on non-racing cars the current owner would have image rights by default) and they allow them to use the car in the game.

On racing cars, and specifically F1 cars, it's much more difficult, especially seeing as there are licences that are held by other companies and FOM in general for anything F1 image-related from 1980 onwards.

So the Toleman was his first car and McLaren most recognizable (basically Senna=McLaren) but they went for Lotus.

Poor effort. They probably had cheaper access to Lotus than to anything else so yeah...thanks...I guess..
I thought the partnership with the Senna institute only allowed for stuff up until 1987? So for F1 cars, it was either his Toleman or any of his Lotuses. And they picked the car he won his first 2 F1 races in.

Indeed. It's not the end of the world, but it is sloppy.

In a country where communicating in English is a relatively big deal, and there are thousands of extremely highly qualified translators, not to mention many more thousands of English native speakers available for hire for trivial amounts of money, it's just outright lazy.

It wouldn't have cost them more than $100 to have the most professional of professional translators proof that. Probably less. The amount of text is very low, the only catch is the references to F1 specific terms, but any sensible translator will spot that stuff coming a mile away.
