There you go. EVERYONE knows about 9/11 if they have access to TV, newspaper or internet over the past 4 years. So that's totally on him. Besides, Bi-polar wouldn't make you scream "I have a bomb" It may put him in a bad mood or excited mood, but not scream "I have a bomb"
Well, bipolar could have made him think that screaming that was a really funny prank and then when he realized that it wasn't seen as funny he took off running.

umm... what was the wife doing not giving him the medicine BEFORE they got on the plane... better yet BEFORE the got to the airport???

As for her role, I don't know, but I know that bipolar people try to refuse the drugs because they "don't feel like themselves."

A mood altering drug that prevents something of that degree can make what you and I consider normal seem very mellow to a bipolar patient.

Another thought about him being bipolar and yelling that he had a bomb is that he could have been on his low and this was his succesful suicide attempt, knowing what reaction he would receive.

That's what a lot of the theories are at the moment.

I honestly think you can make a separate thread for this Danoff. Though it's all terrorism, it's a totally seperate subject.

But anyway, I hate the fact that the man was killed but I'm glad the Marshall's were right on top of the situation.

Yea, I guess I wasn't expecting much discussion. I just rememberd that this thread covered the guy who was shot in London because they thought he was a terrorist. This situation seemed similar.

I was watching the CNN coverage last night. This Lou Dobbs guy was trying his hardest to find any wrong with the Air Marshals. He would stutter and move onto another question when the reporters shot him down. Does he not realize that, sometimes, cops shoot people?

Chalk up another for the Liberal Media.

Similar but different. If what has been leaked from the investigation into Charles de Menezes death is true (and of course until the investigation is complete we don't know one way or the other) the man killed in London did nothing to suggest he was a bomber whereas this guy in Florida ran about shouting about having a bomb. That's going to get you shot...or at least in a fair amount of trouble!

Anyway, I don't think there was much of an alternative though surely someone who was a bomber would'nt shout out that he was? He'd just blow up the bomb! Almost sounds like suicide by proxy!

As of this moment, it seems that none of the eye witnesses can confirm that he actually claimed he had a bomb. They're claiming that his wife was running after him telling the officers that he was bi-polar and hadn't had his medication.

That at least throws a tad bit of question into the mix.

But this is still and open and shut case in my mind. The guy was suspicious and didn't listen to the police. If he did claim that he had a bomb there was nothing else they could do.

Ok, but they don't have to notify the airport that this guy is bipolar?

:scared: that would suck... if that's the intent, it ain't gonna go far.

I think that would be something they would have to notify the airline for. Obviously, they didn't.

It would have not mattered. The flight originated in South America. I doubt they check passengers as stringent in the US.

Plus, you can't tell if someone is bi-polar from just looking at them. His wife should have alerted American Airlines before they boarded the 757.

ok but say they were boarding in america they would have been in a profile database right? If the profiling law went into affect.

look get real...you want people to protect you from bombers and other idiots...well WTF are you all asshats ? WTF do do want them to do ? Dont be F$#@Kin idiots.

look ...mods and others...but not for nothing ...sometimes you just need to be slapped around a bit to accept reality .

WAKE UP .

I don't think a profiling database would sort through people that had a bi-polar disease.

What if the Air Marshals were "nice" and politically correct and let the man run through the jetway into the terminal... and detonated? You would have the same people criticizing the Marshals now for not being alert and failing to stop the terrorist.

You can't have it both ways.

Oh... I'm just asking because I don't remember what requirements there are for profiling, besides the obvious of course.

Never heard that if they do. Bipolar people can go a long time in a stable condition and the slightest thing can set them off on a downward or upward swing. Next thing you know they are running drunk through the streets having the time of their lives or trying to kill themselves. It is very unpredictable without medication.

If he had been prescribed medicine he might be considered stable and not even a threat for airline notification.

It is like epilepsy. If you have a seizure you lose your license for a year (in Kentucky), but you don't have to tell the DMV beforehand. The doctor makes the notification when you have the seizure.
